Disclaimer: Battlestar Galactica is not mine, or else there would be a lot more Baltar/Head!Six interaction in the last season.

Author's note: Meh...I just watched "Islanded in a Stream of Stars" and was so happy about the Baltar/Caprica scene, that I finally got my lazy ass up to write something about them. God, the scene broke my heart, it was so intense and sad (and long overdue). However, enough with my fangirlish squeals and on with the story: Enjoy!

Distorted Symphony

Caprica had not thought that seeing Gaius again would hurt so much, that he still could stir so many emotions in her. After what happened to her child, she had felt numb and now it was this man who drew her back by simply recognizing her. He was the last man in the universe she wanted to do this to her. She had thought she was over him, over everything that had to do with him and now she realized she wasn't.

His hands in hers, her hands in his, the simple touch of skin to skin almost made her breath hitch and her heart stop. It was painful and she didn't want to feel this. Not for him. Not again. Not ever.

He had the impertinence to offer her to stay with him and his cult and the worst was, a small part of her wants to. But she had been led down too many times already, not just by him, Saul too, to even dare to follow her broken heart again. She knew better. Gaius had not changed at all and he will break her again if she lets him. She had changed, though, and she won't be so stupid again to trust someone like him.

She had no intention of becoming part of his little harem. She had no intention of becoming a trophy for him again, a doll to be broken.

Gaius Baltar has not changed and never would, she told herself, as she walks away and doesn't realize that he already has.

Gaius Baltar does only care about himself and no one else, she told herself, as she walks away and doesn't realize that he already had started to care for others.

Gaius Baltar can only break hearts, he can not mend them, she told herself, as she walks away and doesn't realize he already mend the hearts of the hopeless people in the fleet.

Gaius Baltar's heart can't be broken, she told herself as she walks away and doesn't realize that the moment she walks away and does not understand, she breaks it.

Gaius Baltar can not love her, not in the same way she loved him, still does, she told herself as she walks away and doesn't realize he already does.

Caprica Six told herself she won't be fooled again by this man, but her skin still tingles and the vision of the Opera house lingers in the corner of her mind.
