A Naruto AU based around Shakespeare's Hamlet. The Hokage is dead, but his ghost is still haunting Konoha. What does it want? Whao will give it what it wants? Summary sucks, but story is good. Id o know this title is a quote from Romeo and Juliet.

A/N: So this story was a request from a friend in my English class. We've been read Hamlet, and she thought it would be awesome if I wrote a Hamletesque Naruto story. So anyway, here's the prologue, and I hope you like it. Warnings: AU, Character death, maybe OOCness, and maybe BL (Yaoi). Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto or Hamlet.

Prologue

"The Hokage is dead! The Hokage is dead!" These words haunted him as he remembered the day his beloved sensei died. He made sure his tie was in place before he headed out towards the funeral he longed to be just a bad dream.

He looked up when he felt a familiar presence at his side. "Hello Sasuke," his blonde best friend said sadly.

"Naruto," Sasuke said, capturing the blonde's hand in his own, comfortingly. The blonde smiled softly, squeezing Sasuke's hand. They made their way slowly together towards the event that they hadn't expected for many more years.

Naruto stopped walking and said, "Sakura." Sasuke looked up to see the teary-eyed pink-haired girl coming towards them. Naruto let go of his hand and stepped forward, hugging Sakura tightly.

"Why did it have to be Kakashi-sensei" Sakura hiccoughed.

As the funeral ended, everyone headed towards the place where the celebration for the next Hokage would be. Sasuke couldn't understand how everyone was okay with celebrating for the new Hokage right after the funeral for the last Hokage. It just didn't seem right to him, and he could tell his teammates felt the same.

The crowd stopped in front of the Hokage Tower and Itachi Uchiha stepped forward to accept the title of Hokage. As Sasuke watched Itachi be named Hokage, he couldn't help but think something wasn't right about this, but he just couldn't place what it was.
