The Pathetic, Hopeless Dream of Colin Creevey
Her hair is such a beautiful shade of red, thought Colin, as he stared at it absentmindedly in Potions class.
"Creevey, stop staring into space and work on your potion," drawled Professor Snape. Colin felt his face grow hot. He would hardly call the back of Ginny Weasley's head 'space', but he was glad Snape hadn't known what he was really looking at.
"Yes, sir," he mumbled, and he turned his gaze back to his potion.
Somehow, that didn't seem as appealing as its previous subject.
Colin would know. He had pictures of Ginny Weasley posted all over the wall by his bed, but they were charmed so no one but him could see them. It was quite convenient to have a reputation for always having a camera around and taking pictures of pretty much everything. It wasn't very hard to snap lots of photographs of Ginny without catching any unwanted attention.
From staring at those pictures so many, many times, he knew every detail of her face. Her heartwarming smile with those adorable dimples could only be topped by her beautiful skin sprinkled with the cutest, most charming freckles imaginable. But her luscious, luxurious hair topped it all.
He also adored her voice. It was as soft as velvet, and it had a sweet ring to it. Just then, a not-so-sweet ring sounded, though it did signal something sweet: the end of Potions.
Eager to get away from his least favorite class, Colin hurried out with everyone else. It was lunchtime, and he liked lunchtime, especially because he always made sure to get a great view of Ginny.
Of course.
It seemed like Ginny was all that was on his mind these days. So it only came naturally that, eventually, someone would notice.
Luna Lovegood eased into the seat next to him, looking in the direction in which Colin's gaze was so intent.
"You really like her, don't you?" Luna said.
"What?"
"Ginny, of course," Luna said matter-of-factly.
For the second time that day, a Ginny-induced blush crept up Colin's face. "How-how did you know?"
Luna smiled. "Oh, I'm in Ravenclaw. I notice things others don't, you see. You don't have to be embarrassed," she added, seeing his expression. "She is very attractive."
"She has nice skin," Colin admitted reluctantly.
"Yes. Hermione Granger has nice skin too," Luna said dreamily.
"Oh. Yeah, I never thought about that."
This was one of those times when Colin wondered if Luna was completely...there.
Luna added, as if it was a side point, "But you know, Ginny and Harry kissed last night."
"What?" Colin gasped. "I hope you're joking."
"I seldom joke."
"Oh," said Colin. "What a blow."
"On the bright side, you're a poet and you didn't even know it," Luna said with a cheerful smile.
The world was truly coming to an end.
The End. (not of the world)
