Chapter One: Memories
Keira Stokes pulled up to the academy, her tired Dodge Charger made it's usual route through the streets of New York's early morning, the town seemingly trapped in its twilight hour.
She had applied for this teaching position three months ago, and she was eager to meet her military charges, and yet she hoped that someday, she would qualify for real war.
As she stood in front of the room full of teenagers through men and women in their early twenties, the aspiring instructor cleared her throat, "Good morning, I'm Keira Stokes, and I'll be your instructor in this course, before we begin, I'm open to any questions you may have and will be happy to answer them." a fourteen year old boy with piercing blue eyes raised his hand, he seemed like trouble.
"Miss Stokes, why are you here?" his smile misled the young woman, "I'm here to make sure that you have the knowledge you need to survive in the battle field." the woman smiled gently.
The boy shook his head, "No, I mean, I've read your personnel file, it says that you completed three tours with a unit called F.E.A.R. And according to this you were some big hot shot in the unit, if that's so, then why are you here?" the boy looked at Stokes with a iron expression.
The boy's question stopped Stokes in her tracks, "Why am I here, well the answer to that is a story that is complicated to explain let alone understand, but according to your intelligence profiles, I'll have to do my best explaining it to you." these memories she had held inside since the incidents that triggered them, she had the chance now to let them go once and for all.
