The One

Tears streamed down her face, blurring her vision of the road. Taking one glance of the mirror to see her child peacefully sleeping in the wasn't ready for this but once her little boy started asking "Where's my daddy?" ' she couldn't keep the lies anymore. She thought moving so far away would do her good. She was now twenty-one, her life wasn't what she dreamt of but she never regretted it. Her son was the best thing that ever happened to her with his golden blond hair and his blue eyes so familiar it hurt her sometimes; he held the teddy he had won for her on their first date at the carnival. She gave the little boy his father's middle name it looked so complete yet thinking back when she held him when he was crying, and took him to a nursery because no one else could take care of him, working two jobs with a one and a half year old baby, did he even deserve to part of this kid's life even if it was just a name, a name so meaningful, she wanted his name to just disappear but it never did. Again she looked back to the sleeping child you could hear his thorough breaths. His freshly cut hair so in place, he was sitting in the car seat one of her neighbors gave them. He wore Good Will. She was doing so much better now they had a medium sized house he had clothes and toys. They weren't poor she just made sure that they never ran out of money.

Facing the road again she wiped the tears away. This was it the exit to her old life, her hometown, her friends, the love of her life that broke her heart, but she reminded herself the reason was for her son sittin in the backseat of her silver Audi. She pulled into the familiar driveway. She considered backing out but she didn't, she got out. She slowly pulled her son out of the car and walked to the door. This was it now or never, this would change her and her little boy's life. She knocked, soon after the door opened there he was the sandy blonde/brown haired guy, the one, he saw them and in shock he stuttered, "Is that..." all she did was nod. His face lighteded up and soon a smile plastered over it he let them in. Glancing around the room she saw pictures, pictures of them in high school so in love then there was a picture of their son she smiled, even though he messed up so much he cared and that's all she needed to know for now.
