Worth Fighting For

It was strange just how much our tragedies brought us together in our fight against the machinations of the government. In the end we were fighting for different things or people but perhaps for the same overall reason.
Lighting was fighting against the government because she had to stop thinking of her sister's fate somehow.
Snow was fighting to save the world because the woman he loved asked him to.
Sazh was fighting for his son because he wanted him to live in a better world.
Hope was fighting for his mother because he needed to become stronger.
Fang was fighting for me so that I wouldn't turn into a Cie'th.
What was I fighting for? For a while I wasn't too sure. I was just helping everyone else with their fighting for their reasons. Then I realised that their reasons had become my own because I was fighting not for myself, but for them.
I was fighting for Lightning. I had been the reason her sister was where she was now.
I was fighting for Snow. I had owed him that much.
I was fighting for Sazh. I had been person responsible for his sons cruel fate.
I was fighting for Hope. I had been the one who looked out for him initially.
I was fighting for Fang. I had to be strong for her now.
Then everything didn't seem as hard. It was easier to stand up because I was determined to do something now. I was determined to save Cocoon. It was neither a wish nor was it a prayer, it was a promise.
I would save Cocoon. I never said anything about trying. I had to do it. It was compulsory and the only way now that I could repent for all I had done to my friends.
My friends who still stood by me, even after all my lies and revelations. My friends who would still stand by me and help me in my promise. I would save Cocoon.
Finally, I had found my something to fight for.
This is short but my first Final Fantasy XIII oneshot! Hopefully there will be more to come.
I've loved Final Fantasy since I was quite young and I just finished the game a couple of hours ago.
I wrote this a couple of days ago though but it didn't feel right to post it until I knew the outcome of the game. Now I can post it and I'm looking forward to reading other stories!
