Today is my 18th birthday, but instead of celebrating I am leaving St. Vladimir's
Academy to hunt for my former mentor and lover who was turned Strigoi. Dimitri and I had promised each other that if one of us became Strigoi we would destroy the other. It was an easy promise to make, but it was not an easy one to follow through on. After the attack on the school, I had a couple of days to plan what I was going to try and accomplish. I was going to need money, and lots of it. Fortunately Adrian was willing to set me up a bank account and let me use his money. There was only one string attached with that deal at least. He made me promise that when I came back from my hunt, I had to give him a chance. I agreed because I figured that I would not be returning. I also had to deal with Lissa before I left. She was not happy that I was going, and she thought I was betraying our friendship. Heaven forbid I do something for me instead of constantly taking care of her. I needed to put myself first for once. So that is why and how on my 18th birthday I was leaving my life behind, and going on a mission. A mission that was going to end up with either me or Dimitri dead, but first I had to find him.
