Believe Me Menendez: little, obscure references
SCENE ONE. INT OF A POLICE STATION
Officers LOVOWITZ, MENENDEZ, and MARSHALL are hanging out on desks in a busy police station, they are holding a seemingly casual conversation.
MENENDEZ: You know when you're drinking out of a straw and it gets that little bend and stops working?
LOVOWITZ: (Puzzled) I guess.
MENENDEZ: That's the worst.
Lovowitz shakes her head and chuckles, young officer Marshall stands up off the desk he's been leaning on.
MARSHALL: You know what's the worst, working here! The coffee is terrible, it's nothing like Law & Order, and my screenplay still won't get published!
Marshall storms off stage left and Lovowitz rolls her eyes, Marshall does this a lot.
Menendez, oblivious to Marshall's outburst, poses another question.
MENENDEZ: You know what I've always wondered about?
LOVOWITZ: (Tiredly) What, Menendez?
MENENDEZ: What do you think they use to make the "Chung-chung" sound on Law & Order?
Lovowitz sighs and moves to leave, patting Menendez on the shoulder as she exits.
Menendez, confused at her exasperation, shrugs and exits as well. He walks slowly and cheerfully, humming/ whistling the Law & Order theme song.
