Lain wandered through the streets of her city, sighing occasionally. It was about three or four days after she had erased the memories of her existence from everyone and everything in this world. Unfortunately, she had become quite lonely in the last few days-even more so than before everything happened, and she learned what powers she had. Before this whole incident, at least a few people knew Lain, and she had a small group of people to talk with at sometimes at school. But now, there was no one to talk with, no one to smile with.

It was this loneliness that caused Lain to decide that she wanted to change her settings. She turned around a corner on the street and headed deep into a deserted alleyway. After first making sure no one saw her, she then forcefully ripped open a hole to another dimension-a new world. Through the hole, she could see a grassy field with a few white windmills scattered about. Smiling, Lain went through the hole, and sealed it shut.
