Learn from Treize

Relena was not the type to argue with someone—she preferred to avoid confrontation if she could at all avoid it. Especially if it involved trying to 'reason' with Dorothy Catalonia, who was the equivalent of a brick wall—sturdy and unyielding. They were just simply too different.

"Relena," Dorothy said, finger around the tea cup handle, "it is human nature—my nature—to fight. We are designed to live in chaos. And I will do what it takes to have you realize that all humanity wants is battle." She took a sip from her tea, then. But Relena shook her head. "There is always another way to handle this situation. I will not go to war with the Colonies, no matter what 'evidence' you give me that suggests I should. Have we not learned from our mistakes? Have we not learned from Treize what crying out for war does?"

Dorothy stood, her palms flat on the table. They had been in this meeting for what felt like hours and it seemed like neither of them was getting anywhere.

"Exactly!" She pounded the table. "We must learn from Treize. We must learn from him and follow his example of standing by our beliefs even if it means our deaths! I am prepared—are you?"

Relena nodded and motioned for Dorothy to calm herself. "I am and always was prepared to die—for peace. I will see to it that the harmony we have between the Earth and the Colonies is maintained until such a time where it is broken. I will not hear of war talks unless it is a time of war." Relena leaned forward in her chair, her face calm, yet determined. "You may desire chaos and do whatever it takes it get it, but I am just as adamant about peace. I will not yield."

Relena stood gracefully and signaled the end of the meeting. "Good day, Dorothy. This discussion is over."
