The Closet

Tearju and Lavi had just pranked Kanda, well tried to at least. They had put a bucket of water on top of his door and left the door cracked so he would check it out. Unfortunately he figured it out just in time and sidestepped out of the way. But the damage was done. Kanda was pissed.

So they ran away. And Kanda chased them, Mugen unsheathed.

Tearju grabbed Lavi's hand and pulled them into another hallway. Kanda was gaining on them. She quickly opened the door to one of the many closets and shuffled inside, pulling Lavi with her.

When they got inside the mood changed instantly. The closet was cramped so their bodies were pressed together. They were panting from running, chests heaving trying to fill their lungs. The closet was dimly lit but they could see the others face. Tearju looked into Lavi's eyes, and then quickly moved her gaze to his lips. They were parted slightly; inviting. Looking back up to meet Lavi's eyes again, she saw him quickly steal a glance at her lips.

Their faces were inches apart. She knew he wouldn't close the distance, he was a bookman. He wasn't supposed to have feelings. He was pushing it with being close to Tearju because that were best friends, but kissing her, kissing anyone, was something bookmen didn't do.

Tearju pushed herself closer to Lavi. She pressed her lips to his. He tasted like cinnamon and peppermint. She declared it was thing she had ever tasted. He was shocked at first, but soon he got over the initial shock and started kissing back feverishly. After a few bliss filled seconds, they parted.

"Strike," he mumbled, then pulled her back to his lips. To him she tasted like blueberries. They continued to kiss passionately, his hands tangled in her blue hair, her hands wrapped around his neck. They were breathing loud and heavily. They could not hear the closet door being opened. But they could hear Bookman screaming:

"What are you doing?" Lavi and Tearju parted. Tearju's eyes were wide as she instantly worried Lavi. Said teen was relaxed.

"Will you calm down and stop screaming, you old panda?" He said. "You're giving me a headache."

"I'll show you a headache!" Bookman said before he promptly kicked Lavi in the head.

"Ow! What was that for?" Lavi yelled.

"You know that you are not allowed to have emotional ties to anyone Lavi," Bookman said evenly.

"I know that, I slipped up." Lavi said looking at Tearju who was looking at the floor.

"Good. Now meet me in the library we have many books that need cataloguing," Lavi nodded and Bookman walked off towards the library.

Tearju was crushed. Lavi thought that their kiss was a mistake? She turned to walk back to her room when she felt a hand on her arm. She turned around and saw Lavi standing there with a big mischievous smile on his face and mirth in his emerald green eyes.

"Now that the old panda is gone, he won't suspect our newly secret relationship, huh?" Tearju smiled and nodded. Lavi grabbed her hand as they walked down the hallway to her room.

"So…same time, same closet, tomorrow?" Lavi asked jokingly but with a hint of hopefulness in his voice.

"Only if we lock the door next time," She replied with a wink and a smile.
