A/N I've written this for Pippi55 who was nice enough to leave me a review for my snippets story commenting that this would make a good drabble/one-shot. I was in an emo mood and had a little free time and this is what transpired.
Tattered Edges
She ran her hand over the tattered edges of the paper. It was all she had left of him. He was gone, and all she had left was one measly letter.
Ginny,
I'm not good at sappy love notes, but just in case something happens, I do want you to know that I did love you...do love you. See, I've already made a mockery of it. You're probably scowling right now; if you are then I know I've failed the purpose of this letter.
I, Draco Malfoy, love you, Ginevra Weasley-Malfoy. I want to make the barmy pink haired babies Luna keeps raving on about with you. I want to grow old with you watching those pink haired babies make a mockery of the Malfoy name and become Hufflepuffs or worse, Gryffindors.
I didn't marry you for your status or even for the fact that you're a pure-blood like everyone keeps crowing. (My, how war changes the world. People would have thought the opposite if it had been two years ago,) I married you for your smile, your optimism, your bloody annoying courage. Merlin's beard to save my poor hand from developing carpal tunnel, I'll just simply say I married you because you are everything I am not; I love you , and the bonus is that you're a good shag.
So if I shouldn't return from this Merlin forsaken ridiculous mission the Order has me on, you know the routine. Everything's left to you, all the paper works are in order, you'll just need to sign it. On that same note I want you to keep your pretty freckled face out of trouble while I'm gone. I do know how difficult this will be for you, but please do try.
-Draco
As a tear slipped down her face, she smiled to herself as she reread these words for what had to be the hundredth time. She savored them in her mind as she pictured him as he wrote it. The frown that graced his aristocratic brow, the smirk that found it's way to his lips when he had thought of a good retort.
All those things she would miss and all those things she would never see again, but she had them all wrapped up in this one last letter. She wouldn't ever be able to tell him that she loved him too. Or share in the surprise she had found out right after he had departed. They had made the baby she was now carrying, Ginny just hoped it didn't have pink hair.
Ginny might never get her happily ever after but she did get to live out her fairy tale romance for awhile. The memories she had from the months that they were together would always be cherished in her heart and she didn't regret anything.
