I'm a canon fan all the way. When another person suggested that Lois might not be perfect for Superman, I was initially flabbergasted. However, when a friend pointed out that Superman was better suited for Wonder Woman (Both will live longer, both have superpowered strength, etc.) I partially converted. I still love Lois/Clark and Bats/WonderWoman, but the logisitics of things make Superman and WW more...physically compatible, if nothing else. Ideally, Supes and Wondy would get Lois and Bats till they died, (I know, but I'm being realistic here) leaving them with each other. However, I've read another fic somewhat like this (though...Bats was chewing Supes out for spending too much time with WW...if anyone know the fic, please tell me, I'd like to read it again) so...

That was all he could think as he held her in his arms.
If the world was made of cardboard, she was made of foam.
Personality wise she was made of steel, but her body…
If he were to lose control, even for a second, she'd be dead.
He would kill her.
And the fact that he didn't mean to would make it even worse.
But Diana…
She could take everything he could give her and return it—with a vengeance.
In more ways than one.
Not only that, but she would live a lot longer than Lois would. He wouldn't have to worry about watching her grow old and die while he was still in his prime.
She could take care of herself.
And for a person whose life was always on the line, that was important.
He wouldn't have to be looking out for her, always worrying about her safety.
If he stayed with Lois…
His mind made up, he pulled away.
Lois looked up, startled.
"What…?"
He shook his head.
"Sorry, Lois. I need to think."
And he took off.
