If you could think of a type of shoe, Matilda Williams had it. Walk into her room and you'd witness a flood of shoes on the floor, shelves, and even on a table in there. She was, if you could really call it, obsessed. When she was actually noticed, she was regarded as someone weird who probably only had shoes for friends. Wasn't true, but it might have just as well been decided that it was at a certain point.
Putting on her zebra print convers, Matilda headed downstairs to the kitchen. At the table Francis, her brother, was slowly eating his breakfeast as her father set out her food.
"Maple-kins, ready for school today?" Her father chirped happliy as her cheeks turned slightly red.
"Yeah, I am," She turned to her brother, "Are you ready? You're still in your pajamas..."
"I can get ready before we have to go, so it's fine. Ah," he noticed her shoes out of the corner of his eye, "That pair? Good choice Maddie." He patted her head before going back to his pancakes and sugar toast. Quickly finishing her food, Matilda got her shoulderbag and lunch.
"Dad, I'm leaving early!" Peeking his head out of the kitchen doorframe he smiled and waved.
"Have a good day!" Begining to put her lunch in her bag as she ran out the door, she quickly turned her head.
"Ok, I will!" Her dad sighed as he turned back around.
"Francis, get going!" Francis sighed and walked upstairs to get ready. His dad sighed before starting to work on the dishes.
ooOoo
Opening her locker Matilda began to place books that weren't needed and her lunch into it.
"Why do I have to have a bottom locker? It's just so-" Suddenly, seeing as she was on her knees, she saw a pair of shoes that she never saw before. She quickly slammed her locker closed, grabbed her bag, and began to follow the pair of shoes, only focusing on them and not the person wearing them.
"Daaamn, I forgot to do that math homework. Whatever, I don't need math! I'm just that awesome!"
Upon hearing the boy's voice, Matilda snapped her head up and blinked in response to the boy before her:
Alfred Jones. He was on the football team, basketball team, and was one of the most known kids in school. Girls flocked to him and boys envied him because of it.
"HE has those shoes? No way!" Matilda shook her head, causing her short blond hair to move along with the motion, and once again began to follow him.
She stopped a few inches away when Alfred stopped and began to talk to a group of girls.
"Oh no. Noo. Jessica's in that group! No way! I can't go over there!" She screamed in her head.
"I'll just leave before she sees me-" At that moment she heard a voice that made her stop right in her tracks.
"Matilda? What are YOU doing over here? I thought you had a date with a pair of shoes!" Jessica snickered as she crossed her arms. Matilda twitched a smile reluctantly before responding.
"Aha, very funny Jessica. Very funny. I thought you had a date with Thomas? Or was it Derek?" Matilda then adjusted her red rimmed glasses.
"I mean, it's hard to keep up with all the guys you've dated, seeing as it usually only lasts five days." Jessica's brown eye twitched as she walked closer to Matilda. Utterly confused, Alfred simply tilted his head to the side. He then turned to a girl that was next to him.
"Ah..who's that," He pointed to Matilda, "And why is Jessica fighted with her?" The girl sighed as she cupped one cheek with her hand.
"That's Matilda Williams. She's so in love with shoes, she stalks people around school just to look at their shoes. It's really creepy to be honest; But, by the way, everyone calls her Shoe Girl,"
"As for those two fighting, they had, like, a MAJOR fight in 9th grade and have hated eachother since." Alfred blinked while turning to the two arguing girls before him.
"I HAD heard of some girl nicknamed that, but I didn't know she'd look like that," His eyes wondered to Matilda's chest, than to her figure, "I was expecting someone that was ugly or something...and was fat. Well, she's sorta fat...chubby I guess though..." His thoughts were broken when he heard Matilda and Jessica throwing insults at eachother.
"Bleach blond!" Matilda leaned in to the blond haired girl.
"Four eyes!" Jessica proceeded to lean in as well.
"Small brain!" Matilda leaned in even more.
"Shoe screwer!" Jessica leaned back out.
"Coming from someone who-" Before Matilda could even begin to respond Jessica inturrupted and began going on a rant.
"Shoe's are your only friends! Don't you realize how creepy you are, stalking people just to look at their shoes? I mean, only a sad freak would do that! Besides that," Jessica leaned in once more and poked Matilda's stomach for effect,
"You're fat." Alfred ran between the two girls and tried to get them to stop.
"Ladies, ladies, calm down! There's no need to say things like that! Since I'm heroic, I just can't allow you two to keep this up!" Alfred smirked at both of them before continuing, "And besides, whatever made you two hate eachother isn't worth this."
Jessica snapped her head away while Matilda just looked down. Alfred suddenly began to hear small, little sniffles coming from the Canadian next to him.
"Are you ok?-" Matilda quickly grabbed both of Alfred's hands and sprung her head up at him, cheeks and nose red.
"Please let me have your shoes!" She smiled at him with big eyes and a determined look on her face, leaning in the process.
"Just looking at them makes me happy!" Her smile widened even more.
Everything remained silent, akwardness spreading through the air.
Alfred stared at her with a confused look on his face as he slowly tried to take his hands away from hers.
"...Excuse me?" He raised a blond eyebrow at her.
"What is up with this girl?" He thought while thinking of how to reply.
"Well? Can I?" Matilda's eyes widened even more as she leaned in closer.
!o!o!o!
I had the idea on my mind for a day or two and decided to write it. Matilda seems more outgoing then usual, huh? She's very determined to get those shoes! (As you can obviously tell, DUURR)
She blurted that out, because, well...w' I guess if they make her happy, she can ask for them in the most unsuittable time ever...? Something like that I guess...
Sorry for making it so short! I'll make the other chapters last longer OTL
Review if you want, tell me what you didn't like, or if I made a mistake 8D I tend to make those alot when writing a story :'D
