A/n: Hello~! It's been a long time since I posted anything, hasn't it been? I'm SO sorry for that... but I hope maybe this can make up for that... This takes place in between the three years in which Kagome leaves the feudal era, and returns. Enjoy and review, -ne?

Disclamer: I do not own Inuyasha. The series belongs to Rumiko Takahashi.

Sometimes:

Sometimes, before she fell asleep, she would think of what she had left behind. She remembered the cool wind that would blow through her hair as she slept, the moist grass against her outstretched fingers, the light breathing of her companions. She remembered the crackling of the fire, and the expanse of stars that stretched over head. She remembered the tender gaze of gold that rested upon her as she rested, a silent promise of love and protection.

And she missed it.

Sometimes, on warm nights, she would take her blankets outside with her, and lay beneath the Goshinboku, staring upwards to the dark skies through the branches, remembering the wild of the world she could no longer visit.

And she would sigh.

Sometimes, when the weather grew cold, she would stare at the gathering snow, and hope they were warm, and happy.

Because she wasn't.

Sometimes she dreams of his tentative smiles, his outreaching hands, his burning gaze, his warm arms –

And she wakes up in tears.

Sometimes she wants to move on, and just live. Be normal. Date, have fun.

But she can't.

She loves him, them, there… yes she loves them too much.

Her friends try to talk her into dates, and she allows herself to meet new guys.

Yet none hold a candle to him.

They never will.

So she tries to live. She wants to live. And she does in a sense.

But something always holds her back.

Sometimes, she wears a bittersweet smile, and often her eyes become glazed and her thoughts distant.

And in her own way, she suposes she's content.

For the moment.

She's fine looking back on the past and missing it.

What has passed has passed.

So she lives. And tries.

For them.

But her heart yearns for a distant time and place.

Sometimes, her feet lead her to the well, and she finds herself staring into its depths. Wondering, hoping, thinking…

And sometimes she jumps in, pleading with kami to let her dreams be reality.

But nothing ever happens.

Sometimes she speculates, his future. Perhaps he missed her too? Was he alright?

Sometimes doubts nagged at her heart.

Maybe he's moved on. Maybe he's found someone else.

She sometimes thinks grimly that he had no problem the time before.

But she knows deep down, that wouldn't happen.

Sometimes, as she peers into the depths of the well, and think she can feel the feudal air washing over her, and hear the distant voices of her friends.

But she thinks she's imagining things.

So –

When a bright blue sky appears at the bottom, and a light breeze caresses her skin, she thinks it's another illusion. A day dream.

Yet doubt is replaced by knowing.

She knows that it's not dream.

She knows that she has to go.

She knows he'll be waiting.

And she knows that yes, sometimes she will miss what she's left behind.

But she has to look forwards from now on, and make her own decisions.

She knew sometime in the future she would sigh and shake her head at her actions.

But she also knew she would never regret them.

A/n: So what did you think? I'd very much appreciate some reviews... :)
