Around two weeks later, Luz was finally allowed out again. Eda didn't want her to hurt herself while injured. She didn't even let Luz go to school, making her video chat via crystal ball all of her classes and sent Owlbert to pick up her homework! Eda was so dotting and worrying like a second…..parental figure. Yeah, parental figure.

"Oh thank Titan, the fresh air feels good!" Luz said with the breeze coming in through the door.

While she may be healed, she had some scars on her legs, and her eyebrow now had a scar going through it.

'I hope my friends don't notice and ask questions, it might be awkward.' Luz thought, walking out to the market to meet them.

"Be safe, Luz." Hooty said.

"Try and use protection with that Blight girl!" Eda said.

"EDA!" Luz yelled.

"You'll thank me!" Eda shouted before Luz shut the door and speed-walked away.

Eda also found out that Luz MIGHT have developing feelings for Amity but constantly denied it, saying she didn't have time for a relationship right now.

'I need to get those girls together.' Eda thought.

Luz was too young to worry so much about life, she needed to be a teenager while she could. Go to parties, have fun with friends, find love; the problems of her home dimension could still be on her mind but they can't consume her life.

"Now how to do it?"

"Maybe I could help?" Hooty asked, stretching towards Eda.

"No!" Eda instantly said to him, pushing him away.

"Awe."

"You probably have some crazy scheme that could do more harm than good." Eda said, walking back to the kitchen.

"I could still help!" Hooty shouted to her.

"Nope!"

As Hooty continued to beg Eda to help, Luz made it market and looked around for her friends.

"Where are they?"

Luz decided to focus her ears a bit to try and pick up on her friend's voices. She used that and began to follow the sound.

'They're close.' Luz thought as she continued through market, avoiding certain people along the way.

"Guys!" Luz said, seeing her friends.

Gus, Willow, and Amity turned to see Luz coming down the street.

"Luz!" They said with smiles.

They group hugged.

"It's been too long since we saw you in person!" Willow said.

"I thought you'd be a captive shut in forever." Gus said.

"Well, I had a bit of a problem." Luz said, "Hey, check this out."

Luz bent her arm backwards at the elbow, just like when she had her arm broken, except now she can realign it with ease.

"I guess Eda's healing magic is a bit rusty, because now I'm double jointed."

"Urgh, that is not right." Amity said with grimace.

"That's so cool!" Gus said while looking closer, whispering. "Are all humans like this?"

"Not everyone. Some are naturally like this but not all of them." Luz answered.

"Please realign it." Willow said.

"Please." Amity agreed, feeling a little sick from seeing it.

"Oh, sorry." Luz said, moving her arm and elbow back to their normal position.

The crack that it made as she did it almost made them regret asking her to do that.

"Okay. Now that my arm is back to normal, what do you guys wanna do?" Luz asked.

"I want to learn more about your Spirit Animal." Gus said.

"Didn't I already tell you about it?" Luz asked.

"Not everything." Gus quickly replied.

"Alright, let's go to the woods."

The group headed towards the woods outside of town. While a large bird palisman watched. It flew and landed on Gwen's arm.

"Well, Edalyn will be glad to know they're hanging out." Gwen said, "I'm so glad she called me over to try and get those two together. Now, we can't keep Witchlet waiting. So, let's follow them and learn a bit before heading there."

The large bird palisman nodded before flying up, transforming into a staff and allowing Gwendolyn to saddle on before flying after the group. With the group, they arrived at a place they won't be disturbed.

"Alright, you wanted to learn about it." Luz said.

Luz shifted into her spirit animal and ran at a tree. She climbed it like she was flying.

"Whoa! She's so fast!" Willow commented.

"So agile!" Gus said, pulling out a notebook and writing this down.

She disappeared in the tops of the trees, with her black fur and even blacker spots helping her hide. This allowed her to sneak up behind them. She waited until she was about four feet from them before letting out a roar, scaring the absolute hell out of them.

"AAAAAH!" The trio shouted in fear, jumping into each other's arms in fear.

While she was motionless, inside, Luz was laughing her tail off.

"That was not funny, Luz!" Amity said, holding her chest.

Luz shifted back.

"I beg to differ."

"I almost messed my pants!" Gus shouted at Luz.

"You wanted to know."

"Can we know anything else NOT scary?!" Amity asked, holding her chest.

"Well, I am an excellent swimmer."

"As a human or a panther?" Gus asked.

"Both, but that's just me. Some humans with aquatic spirit animals are much faster swimmers." Luz said as Gus kept taking notes, "But for ground, tree, and water, I am pretty good and well rounded with mine."

"Can you tell us what other types of Spirit animals there are?" Amity asked.

"Lots." Luz said, "There's things like wolves, eagles, bears, sharks, alligators, deer, lots of animals like that."

"Could you say there are possibly millions?" Gus asked her.

"As much as there as people on my planet, yes." Luz said.

"So, who wants to see me hunt?"

"Hunt?" Willow asked in surprise.

"Yeah, it'll be fun." Luz said.

Luz turned back into a panther and began sniffing around, looking for something to hunt and to show her friends how Earth animals hunt. At the Owl House, Gwen landed.

"Hey, Gwen!" Hooty shouted.

"Hello, Hooty."

"So, how was the plan?" Hooty asked.

"That's for Edalyn to know." Gwen said with a smirk.

"Speaking of, mind getting her for me?"

"Oh sure, just one second!" Hooty said before opening the door and stretching inside. "Come right in!"

"Thank you."

Gwen walked into the house and sat down in the couch next to King, who was napping.

"Eh?" He let out, looking around before going back to sleep.

'Such a cutie.' Gwen thought as she scratched his back a bit.

He moved in his sleep from the scratch.

"Mmm." King hummed as he kept sleeping but was moving into the scratch. "Yeah, that's the spot."

Gwen laughed.

'Oh I would love it if Eda just adopted you already so I can spoil you like a proper nephew.' Gwen thought as Eda came into the den.

"Hey, mom." Eda said with a tiny smile.

"Ah, Witchlet, Amity and Luz are in the woods." Gwen said.

"Ah, young love."

"What are they doing?" Hooty asked.

"Hunting." Gwen said.

"I knew the kid should've eaten before she left." Eda said.

"Well, I think it was more for demonstration than for actual food. Her friend Gus said he wanted to know more about spirit animals." Gwen said, holding her chin.

"Yeah, but did she suggest it?" Eda asked.

"Yes." Gwen said.

"Then she's still hungry." Eda said, shrugging. "She did leave in a rush. Now, how to get them together."

"Maybe make it so they can be all alone instead of with a group?" Hooty suggested.

"No Duh." Eda said to him. "But those four a practically thick as thieves by now. How do we get Luz with just that green haired girl? Maybe we can lure them into a trap? That will work! King, get the tranquilizers! We're going hunting!"

"Woah, there is no reason to do that." Gwen said.

"One of them is an apex predator and the other is Odalia's daughter. I think I do." Eda said.

"Edalyn." Gwen warned.

"Ugh! FINE! No tranqs!" Eda said, "Way to take the fun out of it."

"This is about romance, not fun for you." Gwen said.

"Why can't it be both?" Eda asked.

"Because I said so."

"Yeah! Getting two girls together should be romantic, magical, and perfectly set!" Hooty said with a smile.

"Exactly. Thank you, Hootcifer." Gwen said.

"Oh please, what does he know?" Eda asked.

"Probably a lot given that he's seen you fail a thousand times." Gwen said.

"I have not failed at dating a thousand times!" Eda said.

"Fine, two thousand." Gwen said.

"It's not two thousand either!" Eda shouted as she blushed brightly.

"Don't even get me started on her old flame, Raine." Hooty said to Gwen.

"Hey! Get back on track!" Eda said.

"Oh Raine! They were such a catch! You should really get back together sometimes." Gwen said to Eda.

"Moving on!" Eda shouted, blushing.

"I mean, Lilith will never give me grandkids." Gwen said, "You could've had wonderful kids with Raine."

"Stop! Please!" Eda begged.

"No, I don't think I will."

Eda was left groaning, sitting on the couch as she covered her face.

"I will kick you out of my house." Eda said.

Hooty and Gwen giggled at this, knowing Eda didn't really mean that right now. Not when they still had Luz's and Amity's love lives to think about.

"Okay, now we can go back to discussing Amity and Luz."

"Finally!" Eda said!

"And afterwards we can talk about getting you and Raine back together."

"Mom!" Eda shouted at her, blushing.

"My mind is made up!" Gwen said.

"Here here!" Hooty shouted as King woke up.

"What is with all the noise?! I'm trying to sleep!" King shouted at them.

"They're humiliating me." Eda said.

"Can I join?" King asked.

Back with Luz and company, they were following Luz in silence as she was prowling after a nearby prey.

'Slowly, don't make a sound.' Luz thought to herself.

She climbed up a tree and climbed to a branch overlooking her unsuspecting prey.

From a separate tree, Gus was covering himself, Willow, and Amity with an illusion spell so they could see it up close.

'I almost feel sorry for that animal.' Willow thought.

Luz let gravity take control and fell from the tree, landing on top of the prey and biting on the back of it's head, her canines going right through its skull, killing it almost instantly. The prey didn't even get to make a sound before it died in Luz's jaws. Luz began to eat it.

"Ugh." Gus gagged, looking away. "Do you have to eat it, Luz?"

Luz growled as she continued to eat, saying yes. She was always taught to never kill for sport, so she's going to keep making sure she eats it, making sure it won't go to waste.

"Do we have to watch this?" Amity asked.

"I don't think we do. But I don't just want to leave, that would be kind of rude." Willow said, looking away from the animal being eaten.

"Plus, she could hunt us down if we did." Gus said.

'True.' Luz thought as she ate as much as she needed before she pulled back and turned back to normal.

"Not bad." Luz said, wiping her mouth of any blood, "There's nothing quite like the taste of fresh meat."

"Maybe not THAT fresh, Luz. I think meat from a butcher is just as fresh." Amity said as they walked up to her.

"True but that adrenaline you feel mixed with the blood of a prey makes the mat tastier. At least that's it to me." Luz said as her lips were clean, "But, I'm an apex predator, what can I say?"

"Okay, I think I have enough. Humans are really scary." Gus said, finishing his notes.

"Not all of us." Luz said.

"Yeah, some of them are herbivores, right?" Willow asked Luz. "Plant eaters?"

"Herbivores and omnivores, yes." Luz said with a nod. "If you don't know what an omnivore is, it's an animal that eats plants and meat."

"Ah... so not Willow." Gus said.

"Hey!" Willow said to him.

"What? When was the last time you ate something that wasn't meat?" Gus asked.

"I've had juice!" Willow said to him.

"You drink juice, not eat it." Gus corrected her.

"Whatever! The point is just because you haven't seen me eat fruits or vegetables, doesn't mean I don't eat them." Willow said to him.

Luz shook her head, this was something she wished she had in the human realm. Genuine friends to talk to, to hang out with, and to bond with. They didn't just be friends for her status as a rare spirit animal holder, they genuinely wanted to know her and care about her. It was nice.

"Well, not that this isn't interesting, how about some lunch? Surprisingly, I didn't lose my appetite from that." Amity said, gesturing to the dead magic animal.

"I could eat." Willow said before pointing to Gus. "And I will have a SALAD with my meal."

"I'm sorry, okay? You're not just a carnivore!" Gus said to her, his hands up.

Gus wasn't sure who he was scared of more, the actual man eating big cat, or Willow.

"Hehehehe, let's go." Amity chuckled before gesturing them to follow her. "I know a good place nearby."

"Good idea." Luz said, "Don't want to be out here too long."

"Why?" Gus asked her.

"Cuz this might be another predator's territory and I don't want deal with them right now. Plus, there is a Beast Keeping Coven right? They might be investigating me as a panther." Luz explained as they left the forest, "By the way, they are very inaccurate about what I look like."

"Yeah, I know." Amity said.

"I thought you could transform more." Gus suggested.

"No, my panther form is what I look like."

"Oh, poop. I thought it would get even cooler." Gus whined.

"She's a giant killer cat, how cooler can you get?" Amity said, before blushing realizing how that sounded.

"Oooooh." Willow let out, gazing at Luz for a reaction but she just keep walking forward.

'Do not blush. I don't have the luxury of love.' Luz thought, even if she blushed a TINY bit.

Later, Luz and Amity made it to the Owl House.

"Thanks for walking me home." Luz said, "Though I can handle myself pretty well."

"I know but I just wanted to make sure you were alright." Amity said.

"Thanks... want... want to hang out for a bit?" Luz asked.

"Oh... sure."

The two went inside, only to find that the lights don't work.

"Huh? that's weird." Luz said, "Hold on, let me use my Panther eyes, they are better at seeing in the dark."

Luz closed her eyes, and when they opened, they were panther eyes. She looked around the room for any clues, needing to find where Eda and King went off to.

"Um... what's going on?" Amity asked.

"That's what I'm trying to figure out."

Amity decided to stay close to Luz as she looked around as well, wondering what was going on herself.

"I could make a fire spell to help us see." Amity whispered to Luz, not to alert anyone that might be inside.

"Uh... maybe don't... a lot of things in here are flammable." Luz said, "Wait, I see something."

Luz brought Amity to a door with a weird sign on it.

'Enter for a surprise.' the sign said.

"Enter for a surprise?" Luz whispered, drawing Amity's attention.

"Surprise? What surprise?" Amity whispered back.

"There's a sign over there and it says "Enter for a surprise."" Luz whispered, subconsciously pulling Amity close by the waist, "Come on, surprise is very vague here, and I don't want Eda to blow herself up."

"Okay, lead the way." Amity whispered.

Luz opened the door and helped Amity down to the basement. They made it down and were suddenly hit by a bright light, nearly blinding Luz completely.

"Aaaah!" Luz let out, her panther eyes forced to take the blunt of it because she didn't change them back yet!

"Luz!" Amity said, holding Luz up as she held her hands over her eyes.

Luz stumbled a bit before stepping on a button that opened a trap door beneath them.

"Aaaah!" They both screamed, holding each other as they suddenly fell into a slide that carried them deeper below the house!

They landed on a... Hooty... Swan boat?

"¡¿Qué coño!" Luz asked.

"Uh... is this always here?" Amity asked.

Luz rubbed her and blinked them as her eyes returned to normal and adjusted to the lights.

"I honestly don't know, I didn't even know this place had a basement." Luz said as she looked around.

The boat began moving.

"Now we're moving?" Amity asked in the boat. "Just what is this place?"

"I don't know but I have a bad feeling about this." Luz said, looking around.

Suddenly, they saw hearts everywhere.

'Is this... a tunnel of love?' Luz thought.

This was the last thing Luz had expected to see down here!

A dungeon? Maybe.

Hidden weapon room? Probably.

A stash of snails Eda hordes? Hell yes!

But a tunnel of love? Not in a thousand years!

'Oh, I'm mauling someone after this.' Luz thought.

It only got worse as more lights came on to reveal Luz and Amity's names next to each other with a heart between them or around them. Amity blushed.

"This is….interesting decor." Amity said softly.

"Yeah…it is." Luz said, feeling embarrassed and angry!

'Oh I am DEFINITELY mauling someone after this!' Luz thought before romantic music began playing in the background!

Amity was looking at it, confused but also... interested.

"This is…..nice." Amity said, making small talk. "The river ride is surprisingly relaxing."

"Yeah, it is." Luz said, growling a bit at this obvious set up.

A sign fell down next to Luz that said, 'Confess'.

Seeing it, Luz grabbed it and ripped it off the strings before throwing it into the water.

"What was that?" Amity asked, not seeing the sign.

"Nothing. Probably something fell into the water, this stuff looks hastily put together." Luz said, lying to Amity before another sign dropped in front of them.

'Confess.' It said again.

"Confess?" Amity asked.

"It's nothing!" Luz said, slicing it with the metal claws she used against Grom.

But more signs just dropped down with various words displayed on them.

'Don't fight the love.'

'Love will set you free.'

'1 + 1 = you 2 forever.'

"Luz, what's going on?" Amity asked.

"I don't know, this is a surprise to me too." Luz said to her, getting out to destroy those signs too!

"What did they mean by Confess?"

"I don't know!" Luz said to her, clawing the signs with ease!

"You can't lie to yourself!" A song voice said, making Luz stop slashing.

"Who said that!?"

""Love is ultimate medicine for your health." Another voice sang, as a hymn beat was heard!

"Do you hear music?" Amity asked, looking around.

"Oh god, no! This is NOT a musical number about love!" Luz shouted as she blushed.

'This is the worst day of my life.'

The romance song continued to play as angels came out to sing, pushing Luz and Amity closer together. Amity was a bit happy, while Luz was horrified.

'When is this going to end? I don't want this!' Luz thought, even if she was lying to herself about one part of this. 'I can't risk it.'

"Luz?" Amity asked, noticing her expression.

"I don't want this." Luz said.

"Want what?" Amity asked her.

"I…I don't want to do this. I don't want to….drive this feeling away but I don't have any other option right now. Not with everything going on." Luz said, pulling her knees into her chest and holding them. "Amity…..everything in my life right now, it's chaotic and I'm trying to kept it under control before something else bad happens…..I don't want to lose someone else important to me like-"

"What Grom showed everyone? About your mom?" Amity finished for Luz.

"I don't know if she's alive, I don't know if I'll ever see her or my home again, I... I don't know if I can handle anything happening right now!"

The music came to a stop as Luz was struggling to hold back her tears.

"I don't know what my future holds, and that scares me." Luz said.

"Luz... you don't need to be scared... talk to me." Amity said.

"I…..I want to but I don't think it would help." Luz said as the tunnel of love came to an end.

"Talking about something can always help. So please, talk to me." Amity said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"It's not that easy." Luz said.

"Why not?" Amity asked.

"Because... It's... I just..."

"What, what is it Luz?" Amity asked.

"I love you! Okay!? I have had feelings for you for a while, and I know you feel the same, but I can't be in a relationship with everything going on!" Luz screamed, finally breaking down, "I want to be with you, but I don't belong here! I... I want you to find someone that won't be a burden, that will give you everything you want. I can't."

Amity grabbed Luz's hand and rubbed her thumb over Luz's hand.

"You can... because everything I want... is you." Amity said.

"…And if I hurt you? Unintentionally or not, physically or emotionally?" Luz asked, turning her gaze towards Amity. "What will you do then?"

"Luz... I know you, you can try and hide your emotions... but I've known you for a while, I know you would NEVER hurt me... Luz... I know the future isn't exactly clear, and you don't know what to do... but you don't have to hide them, you don't have to do this by yourself... Luz... let's figure this out together."

"But-" Luz said before Amity put a finger on her lips.

"Luz" Amity said softly before leaning closer. "Stop talking and stop worrying."

Luz closed her eyes.

"Why do you like me?" Luz asked, "I'm an emotional wreck that can't put a thought together."

"An emotional wreck wouldn't be the nicest, most selfless person I've ever meet." Amity said, "So how about you stop acting like you have to do everything by yourself and say you'll go out with me."

'Really? That's how she asks a girl out?' Luz thought with a smile.

"If I say yes, can I get out of this boat?" Luz joked to her.

"I'll consider it. I may want to ride the tunnel again." Amity joked back with a smile.

"Hehehe, fine. Yes, I'll go on a date with you, Amity Blight." Luz said with a smile.

Luz scooched over and leaned her head on Amity's shoulder.

"Everything will be okay?" Luz asked.

Amity kissed Luz's head.

"It will, I promise, I'll be with you through everything you go through."

Watching from their hidden viewing spot, Eda, Gwen, and Hooty were celebrating! Their plan to get Luz and Amity together, even if it didn't go EXACTLY as planned, was a success! And it was totally worth the seven miles worth of running from the angry panther.
