A couple days later, Luz was holding Eda's staff in the air and was spinning it.
"Not bad, Kid, you're getting really good at staff training." Eda said.
"Thanks, I'm just as surprised as you. I didn't think it would be this easy to use." Luz said.
"Well, you are just full of surprises." Eda said.
"Not as much as compared to you with that crazy ass tunnel you put me in." Luz said with a small glare, pointing to Eda with her own staff.
"Hey, it worked, didn't it? You've got a girlfriend now." Eda said as she pushed the staff away a bit.
"Speaking of, I have a date to get ready for." Luz said.
"Already?" Eda asked, shocked and checking her scroll for the time. "Dang, time flew by fast!"
"Yep and I need to hurry and get ready or else I'll make Amity mad." Luz said, walking into the house.
Luz threw Eda's staff to her and went inside to get ready.
"Bring flowers or candy! That's an excuse good if you're late!" Eda called out quickly.
"Won't need it but thanks!" Luz called back.
'Ah, to be young and feel love... and your back... again.' Eda thought.
Eda cracked her back a bit, walking inside to relax a bit after training Luz a bit. Now that Luz had a friends AND a love life, Eda had more free time to herself.
'Hmm, speaking of love…..could I have a chance to get back with Raine?' Eda thought, remembering her truest love.
She was knocked out of her thoughts when she saw a black blur run passed her and out the door.
"Well, there she goes." Eda said.
As a black panther, Luz was running through the forest as fast as she could to get to Amity's house. Even with all the trees and random obstacles in the way, it was easy for her to navigate as fast as she could go. She made it to Blight Manor, well, the outskirts of the woods around Blight Manor, and turned back to normal.
"Okay, now to just go and knock-"
Luz was tackled from above by an... abomination panther?
"Huh?"
The panther head opened, and Amity's head popped out.
"Hi, Luz." Amity said, "What do you think of my latest Abomination technique?"
"Abomination technique?" Luz asked, still surprised yet in awe.
"The thing about abomination magic is that once you reach a strong enough level of control, you can turn yourself into an abomination. I used that as inspiration for this new technique." Amity said as she got off Luz, "Look, I'm.. kind of like you."
Amity ran around Luz for a bit, enjoying the speedy feeling she got from four legs.
"Yeah…you are….." Luz said, slowly reaching up as Amity stopped and turned to her, reaching to caress Amity's cheek. "And…you're incredible."
"T-t-thanks." Amity said.
"Now turn back, we have a date."
Amity did so and Luz grabbed her hand, unaware that someone had begun to watch them.
'So, you want to play with the Human, do you?' Odalia thought.
With a quick idea in mind, Odalia was going to make sure that human would never be heard from again. Luz and Amity headed into town.
"So, can I know where our date will be?" Luz asked, holding hands with Amity.
"Nope. It's a surprise." Amity said with a tiny smirk. "You won't even get a hint until we get there."
"Hm, fine, keep your secrets." Luz said.
"Like you kept your spirit animal a secret?" Amity said, low enough for only Luz to hear.
"That's different, Amity." Luz said to her.
"A secret is still a secret." Amity said back.
Amity looked at the ground for a minute.
"Hey Luz… if I was a human… what do you think my Spirit Animal would be?" Amity asked.
"Your spirit animal? Hmm." Luz said, rubbing her chin a bit. "Well, I would have to say….you seem like a white tiger kind of girl."
"White tiger? Sounds ferocious." Amity said, not even knowing what it looks like or know it's a deadly animal.
'Okay, I should show her what a white tiger looks like sometime.'
Before long, putting that thought aside, Amity had stopped the couple as they had reached the surprise destination for their date.
"Wow... where are we?"
"Only the best steakhouse in Bonesborough." Amity said with a smile.
"Meat?" Luz asked, "Let's go!"
Luz rushed inside while dragging a giggling Amity, who made reservations for them.
"This way, please." The witch said, leading the two of them to their table.
"Wow, this place is fancy." Luz said.
"Are steakhouses not fancy where you're from?" Amity asked, making sure not to reveal Luz was a human.
"Not from my experience. They're more rustic." Luz said before shrugging. "But I suppose it doesn't matter if the food is good. Speaking of, what's the biggest thing of meat they have?"
"Depends on what you're looking for." Amity said to Luz.
"Something… raw."
"Raw? Not cooked?" Amity asked Luz.
"The thing about me, Amity, it doesn't have to be cooked or not. Seasoned either, for a true carnivore can find the flavor in any and all meat." Luz said like an expert, "Besides, you've seen me eat an animal I killed just a few days ago, are you really surprised?"
"I shouldn't be but still, a cooked meal is better than a cold meal." Amity said with a small smile.
"Not unless you feel adrenaline when eating it." Luz mumbled with a sly smile.
"What was that?" Amity asked quickly.
"Nothing, dulce tigresa". Luz said.
"Uh… what does that mean?" Amity asked.
Luz giggled a bit before shaking her head.
"It's nothing. Don't worry about it." Luz said with a smile.
'I'll tell her later.' Luz thought.
"So, what are you going to get?" Luz asked.
Amity picked up the menu and looked it over, going through the various meat and non meat options. Just because it was a steakhouse, doesn't mean it didn't have vegan options.
"I think I'll have the ghost chicken salad with one crotons." Amity said, looking up to Luz as the human looked over her menu. "What about you?"
"Oh, they have ribs." Luz said.
"Yeah, I heard this place has the best ribs in the isles." Amity said, looking over the food item.
"Great!" Luz said with a smile.
"And can I guess you'll want to try it with all the sauces?" Amity asked Luz.
"I don't want it seem greedy but I do." Luz said with a small whisper.
Amity chuckled.
"Go ahead and order the ribs with the sauces but try not to make a mess." Amity said to Luz.
"I promise. I will eat like a civilized person." Luz said with her hand up as a waiter came to their table.
"Are we ready to order, ladies?" He asked them.
"I believe we are." Amity said.
After the two gave their orders, the waiter took their menus and left them to talk while they talk. Though, for some reason, Luz's instincts were telling her something was off and something was watching them. She looked around but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, or at least, what she thought was out of the ordinary.
'There's too many people here.' Odalia thought, looking in through a window, 'I'll have to wait until they're on their way to Blight Manor to get rid of that human.'
If there was one thing Odalia learned from her first interaction with Luz, it was that she was dangerous and she needed to die! Stopping Luz from "manipulating" her daughter to defy her, as Odalia thinks, was just a very good bonus. But, to Odalia, Luz was still a human, no special powers to her knowledge.
'I can defeat her easily.'
Spirits or mental torture should be enough to mentally break Luz into a possible vegetable state and get rid of the body. She'll beat her easily. Back in the restaurant, the young couple was giving a small basket of bread and sausage as an appetizer. Something Luz appreciates but doesn't want to dig into.
"A common rule for restaurants, don't fill up on appetizers. That's how they get you." Luz said.
"Oh, I know." Amity said, "Edric doesn't believe in that though, and I've seen it happen plenty of times."
"Did you see it from your mom too?" Luz asked before chuckling a bit. "Hehehehehe. I don't mean to be mean but-"
"Her ass is the size of a building? I know." Amity said with a sly smirk.
"Phhhffff! Hahahahahaha!" Luz couldn't hold back and openly laughed!
"She acts like she's civilized, but when she eats, it's like another creature replaces her." Amity said.
"What kind of creature? A ratworm? Slitherbeast? A wild fairy?" Luz asked, remembering the beasts from class.
"Trash Slug."
"Oh man, that bad?" Luz asked with wide eyes.
"I kid you not, it is. Especially when we eat in private." Amity said with a smile, "She is a beast."
Luz chuckled once again, a bit louder than before as she was imagining this beastly eating.
"That must've been something to see."
"More like not see." Amity said, grabbing a biscuit. "It's something that's actually scarring at a young age. Especially when we have mom's favorite meal for dinner."
"Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she really was a monster." Luz said.
"You have no idea." Amity said.
Unknown to Amity, because she wasn't wearing her "favorite" necklace, Odalia was using a small spirit to listen in on their conversation and was NOT happy to hear this.
'That girl's going to be grounded until she's older than the Titan!'
It took all of Odalia's will power to keep herself from blowing her cover, she still wanted to strike after the date. If she attacks in the public, then her image would be ruined.
"Here are your meals, ladies." The waiter said, returning with their food in both hands.
"Thank you."
A ghost chicken salad with a side of croutons was placed before Amity, the chicken was greenish brown with wisps of translucent "smoke" coming from them. And before Luz was a big plate of demon animal ribs and small cups of different color sauces.
"Oh ho ho, come to mama!" Luz said.
Luz rubbed her hands together before putting a bib in her shirt and grabbing the biggest rib.
"First, a bite without a sauce. Then a bite with a sauce." Luz said before taking a bite of the rib.
Luz took the first bite and immediately felt the wonderful taste hit her mouth.
"Hmmmm! Oh my god, that's so good." Luz said with a mouthful.
Amity laughed.
"If you like it that much with just the meat, I wonder how you'll react to the sauces." Amity said before taking a small bite of her chicken salad.
"I can't wait." Luz said.
Luz swallowed her bite and grabbed one of the sauces, pouring it over the rib before taking another bite!
"Even better." Luz said.
"Again, try not to make a mess." Amity said as she drew a spell circle, making Luz's bid wipe her own lips.
"I'll try but the messier the ribs are, the tastier they are." Luz replied.
"Luz... you're not a panther right now." Amity said.
"I know, that's just a common thing on Earth. People just love ribs slathered in barbecue sauce, it gets really messy." Luz said to Amity.
Amity sighed.
"What am I going to do with you?" Amity asked.
"Give me a kiss?" Luz asked.
"….Later. When your mouth is clean." Amity said with a blush, focusing on her chicken salad.
"Tease." Luz said to her, going back to her meal.
"Someone has to." Amity said.
The two of them chuckled at the joke and went back to their meal. After their meal, Amity and Luz were walking through the woods, enjoying their time.
"That was the best dinner I've had in a long time." Amity said with a smile.
"You mean with the food or with the company?" Luz asked.
"Both, but maybe more of the company." Amity said, gazing at Luz.
"Awe, you." Luz said, "So... about that kiss."
The two stopped and looked at each other. They slowly leaned in and were about to kiss when-
"AMITY BLIGHT!"
Amity and Luz flinched from the sudden screaming, turning to the source and seeing Odalia was standing in the forest ahead of them. Her arms crossed and her right foot tapping the ground as she glared heatedly at the two girls.
"Mom? What are you doing here?" Amity asked.
"Stopping a travesty from happening!" Odalia said s she looked towards Luz. "I don't know what sort of tricks you pulled but your sway over my daughter ends now!"
"Sway?" Luz asked.
"Luz, knock some sense in her, please." Amity said.
"Are you sure? She is your mom." Luz asked Amity.
"And are you joking? You think that HUMAN can do anything to me?" Odalia asked, pointing to Luz. "She can hide her ears under that little hood but I know exactly what she is."
Amity gave Luz a look that said, 'Kick her ass'.
"Fine, fine, I'll deal with her." Luz said.
Amity nodded as she took a step back and let Luz walk forward towards her mother.
"Mrs. Blight, I am offering this last chance to just walk away." Luz warned her.
"I was going to offer you the same thing." Odalia said, grabbing her necklace and summoning a spirit to her side. "Walk away and stay away from my daughter or you die."
"Okay, I tried to do this the easy way." Luz said.
"Trust me, this will be easy." Odalia said.
She commanded the spirit to attack Luz.
"Raaaaah!" It screeched at Luz, swinging its claws but she ducked under and rolled.
"I really hate ghosts."
"That's hurtful since you'll be one soon!" Odalia said, holding her necklace to control the spirit.
Luz crouched down and placed a hand on the ground.
'I have to wait for the right moment.' Luz thought.
Luz watched the spirit circle around and attack her, moving with simple attacks as she continued to dodge them.
"Stay still you miserable creature!" Odalia said, sending a dozen spirits after Luz.
Luz was hit full force by the spirits, sending her flying into a tree. Amity was nervous, but that was quickly turned to anger as Odalia grabbed Amity's wrist.
"Now, as for you." Odalia said, holding Amity's wrist so tight that her nails drew blood, "You are going to be grounded for the next year!"
"Let go of me!" Amity yelled, "I'm not your pawn anymore!"
"Why you little." Odalia said, "If I have to punish you more, then so be-"
A roar filled the air, making Odalia go stiff. Amity smiled as she pried Odalia's hand off.
"Oh, you made a mistake." Amity said, "Look up."
Odalia did, just in time to see the creature everyone is taking about fall at her.
"ROOOOOH!" Luz roared!
"AAAAAAH!" Odalia screamed before Luz dug her claws into her shoulders, taking her to the ground!
Luz shifted back, much to Odalia's horror.
"If I learn about you touching so much as a single hair on Amity's head, I will find you, and I won't be so merciful as I am now." Luz said, "Got it!?"
"W-W-W-W-Wha-" Odalia was slapped in the face by Luz!
"Speak up, woman!" Luz shouted at her.
"What in Titan's name are you?!" Odalia shouted in fear, ignoring her stinging cheek.
"I'm just human." Luz said with a smile, "Now answer the fucking question. Do you understand me?"
Behind her smile, Luz was giving off as much killer intent as she could muster. Instilling great fear into Odalia's very soul as Amity watched in rightful glee.
"I-I-I-I-I understand! I won't bother you ever again!" Odalia said with a stutter, nodding rapidly! "Y-You and Mittens can continue to date for as long as you both wish!"
"Glad we can come to an understanding." Luz said.
Luz stood up and walked away, intentionally stepping on Odalia's face and grabbing Amity's hand.
"Let's get away from here and continue what we were doing."
Amity could only nod as she smiled widely, so happy at the results of Luz and her mother "talking things out."
The two walked away, holding hands.
"So, can we try that kiss again?" Luz asked.
"Yes, you have more than earned it." Amity said with a smile.
The two stopped and looked at each other for a good minute, before grabbing each other's cheeks and pulling their lips together.
