Almost a week later, Hunter was walking around the castle, coming up to the top secret room. It has been quite an experience since he secretly joined the resistance, accepting some very shocking truths that explained a lot about his "uncle" that he didn't know before. Some of them from the resistance and some from his new best friend/palisman, Flapjack.
'No, I'm not going to call him Uncle anymore.' Hunter thought.
According to the staff, Belos was at the conformitorium, so this could be his only chance to see what Belos is working on.
'I pray the Titan has mercy for anyone that sees Belos today.' Hunter thought.
He grabbed the door handle and looked around before opening it. He paused in cause of some sort of trap but found none, quickly entering the room and closing the door behind him.
"Now, what's he been hiding?" Hunter asked.
He looked around before finding something under a sheet. He pulled it off and his eyes widened.
"The portal?" Hunter asked aloud, "He told me weeks ago that this was abandoned."
"Oh ho ho, what's this!?" A child like voice said.
Hearing the voice, Hunter looked around in shock and pulled out his palisman to defend himself!
"Who's there?!" Hunter shouted!
"Ooh, you have one of those staff things!" The voice said, "Better hope your uncle doesn't find out!"
"You mean Belos?" Hunter asked, looking around for the source of the voice.
"Who else would I be talking about?" The voice said.
"Who are you? Where are you!?" Hunter said, "Show yourself!"
"Oh, I'm closer than you think."
Hunter looked down and saw that his shadow was not his, but some kind of shadow... creature... thing.
"Hello!" The shadow said, making Hunter jolt and teleport away!
"A living shadow?!" Hunter asked in shock.
"Oh, I've wanted to talk to you for a long time." The Shadow said, "I was there when you were created."
"W-w-what are you?" Hunter asked, very scared at this.
"I'm not allowed to say." The shadow said.
"Then tell me why you're here. And why Belos is constructing a new portal." Hunter said, gesturing to the portal.
"Oh it's just a part of his cool plan!" The shadow said.
"Plan? You mean the Draining Spell?" Hunter asked.
"Ooh, someone knows a lot."
"But you probably know more, don't you?" Hunter asked.
"I'll never tell." The Shadow said before moving behind Hunter, turning into his shadow. "But I will admit, you're one of the first to have that palisman. You must be really special."
"First? You know about the other grimwalkers?" Hunter asked.
"Know about them? Who do you think taught Belos to make them?"
This information threw Hunter for a loop, making him a bit angrier that there were TWO people responsible for his "nothing but a tool" birth.
"I see." Hunter said, tightening his grip.
"Yep! That's not all I thought him, I've been teaching Belos everything I can about magic and other cool stuff for the last 3 centuries." The Shadow said, looking like Belos.
"Interesting." Hunter said, "So, if you don't mind me asking, since you can't tell me who you are, can you at least tell me where you came from?"
"You wouldn't believe me if I told but sure." The Shadow said before shifting into a relaxed position on his side while pointing to the sky. "I come from up there."
"Up there?" Hunter asked.
"Beyond this castle, beyond this realm. Beyond the STARS." The Shadow said.
"Really?" Hunter asked, pretending to be interested, "Incredible."
"What? You don't believe me?" The Shadow asked.
"No no, I do but it's just a little…..far fetched?" Hunter said to him.
"Oh it's true and I can prove it!" The Shadow said.
"You can, can you?"
"Yes, I can. Just watch." The Shadow said as he moved closer to Hunter.
'What is this... thing... doing?' Hunter thought.
The Shadow held up a finger and moved it closer to Hunter's face Or at least the face of his shadow.
"I'm just gonna give you a TINY bit of information about me so you'll believe me." The Shadow said.
'I'm beginning to regret this.'
Suddenly, a rush of information came into his mind and made Hunter stumble back a bit. Information about a race he never knew existed and could wipe out entire worlds with just a flick of the wrist. A race of…Collectors! Hunter had to back up, it felt like his mind was about to explode.
"Well? Believe me now?" The Sha-COLLECTOR asked with a smirk to Hunter, who was taking deep breaths to try and calm himself down.
"T-That…is what you are?" Hunter asked, looking to the shadow as it nodded to him.
"W-w-what happened? Why are you a... shadow?"
"Ugh, you can thank the big meanie you live on? They locked me up before I could have any fun." The Collector said, crossing his arm.
"Really?"
"Yeah, it's so unfair! I just wanted to play games and have fun, but he just had to be a big meanie and stop me." The Collector said.
"And if you help Belos, then he will set you free?" Hunter asked.
"Yeah! That's what he promised me! He'll free me and together, we'll play all sorts of new games! It'll be so much fun!" The Collector said, excited like a child on Frost Day.
Actually, that's exactly what the Collector was from what Hunter's seen. An all powerful child that can't comprehend the consequences of his "fun" or knows who to trust.
'No doubt he's just another person Belos is manipulating.' Hunter thought, no longer feeling angry at the Collector for telling Belos how to create Grimwalkers.
"I see, well, I should get going and resuming my duties." Hunter said, "But, before I do, I have a game."
"You do!?" Collector said, excitedly.
"Yes, it's called Secrets, you win if you don't tell my uncle about me being here." Hunter said, "Think you can do that?"
"Oh! That sounds fun! Sure! What do I win if I keep the secret?!" The Collector asked, flying close to Hunter.
"You…get a friend. A friend that you can trust." Hunter said, smiling a bit.
"Okay!" Collector said.
"Good." Hunter said, leaving the room.
'I need to tell Raine about this.'
With no other witch around to see him, Hunter quickly teleported out of the castle. Elsewhere, at the Owl House, Luz was looking through a book, trying to help King learn about Titan's. So far, she was reading the unauthorized history of the Boiling Isles since it could be the best source of information on Titans for now.
"There's not much in here to be honest." Luz said.
"But there has to be something. I need to know more about myself and my dad or mom." King said, sitting at the table with Luz.
"I understand King but I would need something more than this. Maybe something before Belos came into power." Luz said, closing the book. "Something from the Savage Magic age."
"Most of those were destroyed."
"And the ones that weren't?" Luz asked King.
"I guess they could be inside the forbidden area of the Bonesborough Library." King said, poking his chin.
"Hmm, maybe Amity could help." Luz said.
"She works at the library? That's a good idea." King said with a nod.
"Yeah, I think I'll go check with her." Luz said, "Man, I still can't believe you're a Titan… you're so wittle."
"Hey! I am not "wittle" anymore! My voice is proof enough that I've matured a bit." King said, gesturing to his voice. "And there's Jean-Luc too."
Pointing to the den, the golem itself was actually entertaining itself trying to solve a rubix triangle puzzle. Turns out, it could learn things and become smarter in order to protect King.
"Well, I'll go see Amity, I'll see you when I get back, you mighty Titan." Luz said.
Luz left the Owl House and shifted into her panther form, running into the woods, unaware of a Coven Guard watching from the tree line.
"The Owl Lady has the Titan." He said quietly, "Belos must know of this."
The Guard rushed off. He had to be careful to keep his distance while spying or else Luz would've sense her! But now, he could report back without worry and be rewarded for his success. At the conformitorium, Belos looked down at some of the "Prisoners".
"You know more about the Isles than anyone else... where is the last Titan?" Belos asked, "I won't ask so nicely if you don't give me the truth."
"I don't know." The prisoner said.
"Hmm, fine then... this one shall have his arms and legs tied to snorses and have them rip him apart." Belos said to the guards, before moving to another prisoner, "What about you, do you know where the last Titan is?"
"I…..I don't know. The only Titan I know is the one we live on! I don't know if there are any other titans!" The prisoner said.
"Hmmmm, I believe you." Belos said with a nod, before looking to a prison guard. "Send this one to solitary confinement for a mon-"
"EMPEROR BELOS!" The coven guard shouted, rushing in. "I've come with news!"
"Out with it." Belos said.
He quickly caught his breath before pulling out Eda's wanted poster!
"It's this small demon, here! The one that lives with the owl lady! He is the last Titan!" The guard said, pointing to King on the wanted poster.
Belos quickly ripped the poster out of his hands and looked at it.
"All this time, it's been right under my nose." Belos said, "Tell the Beast Keeping Coven Head to meet me at the castle."
"Right away, sir!" The coven member said with a salute, rushing off again!
'I am so getting a raise!' He thought, proud of himself.
"Consider yourselves lucky. You're all off the hook." Belos said to the prisoners, making them all sighed in relief, as he turned to the prison guards. "Take them all back to their cells. I have a Titan to collect."
"Yes, Emperor Belos!" The prison guards said.
