"Ash, we have to retreat! This battle is impossible!" A figure shouted.

"No, Leon, we can't just leave! Arceus needs our help! We need to free it from Giovanni!" A boy with z marked cheeks shouted back, twisting his cap backwards.

"Arceus! Destroy the boy! Hyperbeam!" a man commanded, dressed in black, with a Persian following him.

Arceus, the God of Pokémon, prepared a hyperbeam to shoot at Ash.

"Pikachu, stop Arceus by shocking him! Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded, Pikachu hopping from his shoulder.

"PIIIIKA—" but was cut mid-between when Arceus shot his hyperbeam.

Suddenly three figures jumped between. They were unmistakably recognisable. A man with blue hair, wore a slight smile was standing with a tall woman with pink hair. A Meowth was with them.

"Twerp, run. Don't worry about us. We were already gonna be killed by boss." James said.

"Don't make our sacrifices be in vain. Run, you can't win this battle." Jessy agreed with him.

"Twerp, we are sawhry fawh everythin' we have done. Boss is gonna be one hell of person tuh fight. Okay? So run. We'll hold dem off." Meowth said, when a Charizard grabbed him and Pikachu from behind.

"No!!!" Ash shouted, not wanting this fate for the Trio. They were blinded by a flash of light.

A few moments later, Ash opened his eyes to find a Gardevoir, which he recognised at once.

"We're going to win today, Pikachu! We'll beat Leon, the strongest trainer in the world! And we'll be one step closer to being a Pokemon Master!" Ash happily said.

Pikachu raised his chubby arms in the air "Pika! {Yeah!}"

"Come on out everyone!" Ash said throwing out his Pokeballs.

"Gengar!"

"Burr!"

"Car!"

"Ulalalala!"

"Fetch'd."

"Guys, this is it. We're going to battle Leon, and we're gonna win! So let's give it our all!" Ash announced, while the other Pokémon cheered.

Dracovish was so happy that it bit down Ash's head. "Ula!"

"Ugh, Dracovish! Don't do it!"

"Ulala!" Dracovish got off Ash, while he chuckled at Dracovish's enthusiasm.

"Would the battlers please present themselves?" A voice announced across.

Ash returned everyone to their Pokeballs. "Pikachu, let's beat Leon."

"Pi Pika! {You bet!}" Pikachu cheered.

Ash marched off confidently to the battle stadium. Thousand of people were cheering.

This was it.

The moment to battle Leon had arrived.

"Let us welcome, the Monarch, Pride of Galar, The Unbeatable, The Champion LEON!!" The announcer said excitedly.

A Charizard flew in, with a person carrying on its back. Leon jumped off the back of Charizard in style, presumably trying to impress everyone.

"And now, let's welcome the Rising Star, Hero of Galar, the Champion of Alola and Orange Islands, I give you, ASH KETCHUM!!"

Thousands cheered, his mom, Serena, Brock, Misty, Clemont, Bonnie and Goh being the loudest.

"Ash, I have been waiting." Leon said, with a big grin on his face.

"Yeah, me too! I'll beat you, and get one step closer to my goal!" Ash replied back enthusiastically.

"No way. I am the unbeatable Champion! Nobody can beat me. Show me what you've got Ash Ketchum! Let's have a CHAMPION TIME!" Leon said, doing his signature pose.

"Challengers, this is a 6v6 battle. You are allowed to use Mega Evolution, Dynamax and Z-moves. Battle. BEGIN!" The announcer said.

"Let's see what you're made of." Leon said. "Go Aegislash!"

"Aegi! Slash!" Aegislash cried out, appearing out of the pokeball. It was a very impressive looking pokemon with a golden shield, a sword in the middle and two purple plumes from either side of the shield.

"Aegislash, huh? Let's see what it can do. Go Gengar!"

"Gen Garrr!!" and an almost violet colour ghost pokemon burst out of the pokeball, levitating in the air with a determined expression.

"Let's get the first move! Use shadow ball!" Gengar shot a shadow ball, when Leon commanded "Aegislash, kings shield! Then use shadow claw!" Aegislash quickly protected itself and lunged forward to attack Gengar.

"Gengar, dodge it with shadow sneak!" Ash commanded. Gengar nodded and disappeared in the ground, with no sign. Leon, however was one step ahead.

"Aegislash, dodge it and use iron head!" Gengar did a bit of damage on Aegislash, but was hit hard on the face with iron head. Gengar cried out in pain "Garr!!!"

"Gengar, are you alright?" Ash asked worriedly. Gengar got back up, and gave him a reassuring look. "Gengar! Gar!"

Ash grinned excitedly. Gengar had come a long way from being scared of being abandoned. He looked at Aegislash and had a sudden idea. "Alright, now use dazzling gleam! Blind Aegislash!"

Leon wasn't prepared for that command and it cost him. Seems like Ash can actually confuse him (other than directions obviously).

"No, Aegislash!" Leon cried worriedly. However before Aegislash could recover, Ash gave another order. "Quick Gengar, use rapid fire shadow ball!"

Gengar quickly began pelting multiple shadow ball, for which Aegislash was hurt badly.

"Hang in there, Aegislash!" Leon said, gritting his teeth. Watching Ash's battles, he had learned not to underestimate him. But battling him was completely different. He now sympathized for those who had experienced Ash's unpredictable moves in a pokemon battle.

"Aegi!" Aegislash cried out reassuringly, and dodged the incoming shadow ball.

"Now, Aegislash, kings shield and then iron head!" Aegislash followed accordingly, and hit Gengar again. Gengar however was prepared and endured it. Ash got worried a little and asked "Gengar! Can you fight?"

"Gar!" Gengar cried with confidence. Seeing this Ash also became much more confident. He gave a wide grin, and Leon paled at seeing this. This meant Ash had an idea.

"OK then, let's finish this. Gengar, use dark pulse!" Ash ordered. Dark pulse was a recent move he had been practicing with Gengar.

"GenGAAAR!!!!" Gengar shouted and shot a dark sinister beam. Aegislash, unable to take the hit, rolled down to the ground, unable to battle. Leon had a surprised look on his face. He had not counted on this.

"Aegislash is unable to battle. Please send out your next pokemon." the referee announced.

The stadium went wild with cheers. The announcer shouted "And would you look at that! Ash has beat Leon's strong Aegislash! The pokemon who has been feared in Galar! Can Leon make a comeback?"

Leon grinned at Ash. "Wonderful battle Ash. Gengar is powerful, no doubt. But now, it's time to show why I'm unbeatable. Let's go Haxorus!"

A beam of red light, and out came the green dragon type pokemon with two axe like protrusions on its face, making it look like a scary ax. It gave an intimidating glare.

"HaxORUS!" Haxorus cried out, raising his hands in the air.

"Gengar, return. You did a great job. I'll need you for later. Go Dragonite!" Ash said. He would need Gengar in later battles.

"Burr!" a dragon cried out. It had orange coloured scales, with a white belly, and two short wings. Dragonite had a determined and confident look on its face. Leon moved first this time. "Haxorus, use dragon dance!"

Ash, worried, ordered "Dragonite, you use dragon dance too!"

Leon, now seeing the game quickly changed his tactics. "Quick Haxorus, use—" and he was interrupted by someone saying "Arceus, hyperbeam."

"What the—" Leon shouted, but barely got out of the way. Ash's eyes widened. Did someone catch Arceus?

"Haxorus, return, Charizard come on out!" Leon said, now his voice returning to a professional.

"What's happening?" Ash asked frantically. Many people in the crowd screamed at seeing this.

"Show yourself! Who are you to control Arceus?" Leon asked bravely. And out came a man, a man who Ash thought had left him. It was Giovanni. He had a psychotic smile.

"Giovanni!" Ash shouted angrily. "What are you doing here? How did you get Arceus?"

"Ash Ketchum. The thorn in my side. Because of you, my plans were foiled. And now, I'll destroy you and your pitiful rat! Arceus, Giga Impact!" Giovanni ordered gruffly.

"Dragonite, no!!" Dragonite, who was in the way, got the brunt of the attack.

Dragonite fainted instantly. Ash recalled Dragonite into his pokeball. "Leon, we have to battle him now." he said his face turning serious.

He turned around a saw the lady who owned the Gardevoir. "Diantha?"

"Hello Ash. This was not how I had imagined meeting you again after our PWC battle. I teleported everyone to a safe house outside of Galar. Gardevoir is tired. So tired." Diantha said softly.

Leon got up and stretched "Mate, that was rough. I never imagined someone catching Arceus."

"Oh my sweetie, you are alright?" Ash's mom said while hugging him. They parted and suddenly a blur ran into him and hugged him tightly. "Ash, you're alright."

He recognised her honey blonde hair. "Hey Serena. I'm alright." Serena parted, and her face was red. Dawn and May were smirking in the corner, but Ash didn't notice.

He saw Bonnie on the side crying. He knelt down to her "Hey Bonnie, I'm alright. Don't cry now. Show everyone that you are a brave girl."

She immediately calmed down. She sniffed "Thanks Ash. I hope everyone is safe."

May and Dawn came forward and hugged him tightly. "Hey May. Hey Dawn. Glad to see you are alright."

"Ash, h-how?" Dawn asked, with a hint of fear. "How did he catch Arceus?"

"I... Don't know. Arceus had thought about it too. That if somebody catches him, the trainer cannot use Judgement. Which is a big relief, because Judgement can destroy entire regions." Ash answered honestly.

Leon looked at him weirdly. "Mate, what do you mean? How did you know about that possibly?"

"I, er..." Ash stuttered. He hadn't imagined answering it. "Well, in Sinnoh, I travelled back in time when Arceus needed help, and I helped him, and well, I came back."

"WHAT!? How did you...?" Leon had wide eyes.

Misty snorted from the side. "Yep, that's Ash alright. Legendaries always flock to him for help."

"Ash." a voice said from behind. Ash quickly recognised it.

"Riley? Long time no see!" Ash greeted.

Riley chuckled "Only you Ash. Only you can remain cheerful in this atmosphere."

"What are you doing here?" Ash asked curiously.

"I completed my training. I am a full Aura Guardian in the Lucario Kingdom." Riley said.

"Congrats Riley." Ash offered.

"Ash, I'm here because I sensed the aura of Arceus. And it's now tainted by a human." Riley said. "Can you still use your Aura?"

Everyone's eyes widened except Brock and May's. Goh asked first "What does Aura mean?"

Ash answered "Aura is the energy inside everything. This energy is used by Pokémon for their moves. Lucario and Riolu are the only pokemon who can manipulate auras. There are some people who can too. I, err, I can do it too." he added the last sentence in a small voice.

Riley nodded and continued, not giving anyone a chance to question "That is the reason why Legendaries find Aura Guardians for help. And Aura Guardians can do this." he raised his hand to create a blue-ish aura ball.

"Woah, Ash can you do it?" Chloe asked. She had never seen or heard anything like this before.

Ash shook his head "No, I'm not even strong."

Riley had a dead panned look. "Seriously Ash? You can't lie to me. You are maybe the strongest Aura user in a thousand years after Sir Aaron. If you took some training, you could be using it."

Cynthia gave a sharp gasp "You are the strongest after Sir Aaron?"

Everyone had a wierd look except Ash, Riley, May, Max and Brock. Cynthia, seeing this answered "Well, you know I love history. Sir Aaron is a legend of Lucario Kingdom. He was the greatest Aura Guardian, and he had a Lucario, and both of them protected Rotah."

Riley stopped her "Enough of the history lessons. I am going to check your Aura, Ash. So stop hiding it." he said with finality.

Ash rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Riley's eyes turned blue and he gasped loudly. Which attracted everyone's attention.

"Arceus," then he winced, which was probably the best with the current situation. "I mean, Holy Mew, you are the Chosen One! No wonder every legendary flock to you."

Some people were genuinely confused while, some had neutral expressions, and some had shocked faces. Misty groaned "I'm sorry Ash. It couldn't remain a secret."

"You kept it a secret from everyone? Why?" Riley asked.

Ash answered in a small voice "I don't want to be seen special because of someone's decision. I want to be known because of my actions. Ever since Lugia bestowed that stupid title upon me and a prophecy had my name as a stupid pun, my life has never been the same!" as he blinked back a few tears. It was true. His life was never peaceful after Shamouti. Legendaries came to him like it did for no one.

Riley was grimacing. "Lugia chose you, because you met Ho-oh, didn't you?"

Ash looked at Riley with shock "But I never told you about that!"

"You didn't." Riley agreed "But Ho-oh left a mark upon your Aura, proclaiming you as a pure-hearted person. Lugia saw your mark and thus you the Chosen One."

Everyone in the room had disbelieving faces. Riley finally said "Ash, we have a lot to discuss and train."

I've noticed there are really few Ash Time Travel stories published, most of them being WIP or just abandoned.

Yes, this is a time travel story, even though it may not seem like that in the beginning. In a few chapters, you'll see. (most probably in the second chapter)

This will be a slow updating fanfic, because I need to re-watch a lot of Pokémon Episodes for providing the skeleton of the story, even though there will be a lot of changes.

This is an Amourshipping fanfic, because I like it very much. Doesn't mean I hate the other ships. I also like Pokeshipping, Pearlshipping and Advanceshipping, thank you very much. I just thought of using this ship for this fanfic. I'll be using other ships in the upcoming pokemon Fanfics (If I get a new idea of one). Also, please don't ask for Harem pairings, because I don't exactly like them. I'll read a fanfic with Harem if it has a good and compelling story, otherwise I generally avoid reading them.

There are a few time travelling Pokémon Fanfics of my favorites, and are worth reading. Personally, my favorite is "dripping like a saturated sunrise" in AO3 (Archive of Our Own). It doesn't have Ash going back in time, but making Alain go back in time to save Ash from dying. It is a WIP, but you should give it a try. It has Ash and Alain travelling in Unova, and features more usage of Aura powers. Another one of my favorite is "Ashes of the Past". It's kinda long, so don't read it if you don't like really long Fanfics It has 305 chapters, can you believe it?
