Jack went eventually back to his office in the Pentagon and Sam, Daniel and Vala decided to take a walk in one of the parks near their house since the weather was quite pleasant. Siting in one of the benches, Vala couldn't hold her curiosity any longer.

"Darling, you seem in a better mood today" she stated smiling.

Sam was indeed feeling a little better. Although no significant or profound talks with Jack had been made she could tell he was making a serious effort and was pleased. She was also knowing she was the one holding back.

"He told he tried to resign" she said through her sunglasses.

Daniel cough a little bit.

"YOU KNEW?!" she asked unbelieving.

Vala had already heard from her husband all the details about yesterday's talk between the two friends but had told him she thought it was best not to tell Sam the content.

Daniel nodded, a little embarrassed.

"I went to his office yesterday and we talked. He mentioned that" he admitted.

"Ah and you failed to tell me that?" Sam asked hurt.

"I didn't tell you on purpose, Sam. Don't be mad. I just thought you should hear it from Jack, not from me" he explained.

Sam sighted and Vala decided to butt in.

"Darling, you know the General is a complicated man. You've always knew that. He hurt you deeply and might even hurt you more in the future like you can hurt him as you did in the pass. That's what happens when two people who love each other very much like you two decide to join their life's together. But I'm also certain that every time he will hurt you, he'll make all his damn efforts to make it up to you. He's not stupid. He knows his faults. And he loves you to death.

Sam ears were bright red. She knew that Vala was right. They had their arguments but so far until this Kerry's episode they had never a real fight what had surprised Sam tremendously because both of them had quite a temper and were both used to live alone for many years. Besides their jobs demands were quite high and they had a long distance marriage. She knew that the big reason behind for that lack of huge fights couples sometimes had was because Jack was older than her and had much more patience and took a lot of crap from her.

"I know that Vala" she said in a low voice.

"Not that we are excusing him from the shit he has done, Sam. We are not" Daniel was quick to add. "What he did was appalling, I never thought he could do something like that to you" he continued.

"Me neither" Sam admitted.

"Well he has done it. He is apparently very sorry for that. We have to pass that" Vala said in a practical way.

Sam took her sunglasses and looking at the sun closed her eyes.

"That's is the difficult part, my dear friend. How do I move on?" she asked quietly.

"Darling, you took Ba'al, punched him in the face, fought so many System Lords, the Trust, blew up a sun, got ridden of the Wraith, replicators, let me see if I'm missing some evil…Oh the Ori – Vala was counting with her fingers actually.

"I didn't anything of that alone, Vala…well maybe punching Ba'al" Sam admitted with a small smile.

"We are here to help you anyway we can but eventually this is something between you and Jack, Sam" Daniel said taking her hand.

"I know and that's what scares me" she admitted.

"Why darling? He's your husband, you love him he loves you" Vala looked confused.

"My brain is having some problems sorting that out lately" Sam admitted finally her problem.

"Ah…" Daniel said understanding her problem. Sam's brain was her greatest asset work related but also one of her weakness in terms of social interactions.

"I think you'll have to find a balance between your heart and you big brain, my friend" he said patting her hand.

"Easy to say, not so easy to do" she said biting her lower lip.

Vala gave her a big hug.

"I believe in you, Samantha. If you put your mind and heart in something nothing can stops you" she said in her ear.

Sam smiled taking comfort in Vala's hug. She really missed her friends.

Daniel and Vala returned to Colorado Springs before the gala. They said their job was done and that both Jack and Sam need their time alone. Sam was sad to saw then leave but knew they're right. It was time to face the music. It was her marriage, she had to stop procrastinating.
