Jack was already in his dress blues in the leaving room waiting for her, passing, when she went downstairs. She as breathtaking.

"Wow…" was the only thing Jack manage to said.

His eyes were sweeping down her figure, taking the tight black dress floating down her bare legs and clinging to her waist and hips. The dress was simple, elegant and looked absolutely gorgeous without even trying. She was wearing her mother necklace, a small, understated sapphire and diamond that was perfect with the dress. Small and delicate. Her long hair was simply tied back with only some curls to the face.

As she got down, Jack could see her face better. Her makeup was also simple but whatever she had done to her eyes, they were now so blue they almost didn't seem real. With the black hells on she was barely an inch shorter than he was and has she moved to grab her clutch, Jack noticed that the dress showcased most of her back. Sweet Jesus!

"You look dazzling, Sam" he said hoarsely.

"You don't look bad yourself" she said smiling.

"Shall we? The car is outside waiting…" he said keeping the door open for her.

Sam nod and left the house and Jack hurriedly closed it with his keys. She was still on the last step when he extended his hand to help get to the limo. She took it.

"Aren't you going to be cold?!" he asked concerned.

"You look sufficiently capable of keeping me warm, General" she said with a smile, climbing into the car. He was right behind her. The drive to the White House was a silent one but full of stolen glances from both of them. Jack was feeling like a teenager.

Upon arriving the White House, Jack showed the invitations and they entered. As they walked in, they start seeing the usual familiar faces of the high-ranking officers, Pentagon staff, White House politicians and civilians as the crowd moved to the overly decorated ballroom. Jack pick two flutes of champagne and hand one to his wife.

"Trying to get me drunk already, General?" she asked amused.

She knew that using his honorific in places like this was a huge turn on since they were married.

"Definitely not, dear" he said smoothly. "I can barely keep my hands of you as it is and you get very affectionate when you're drunk" he said winking at her.

Sam laughed and drank her champagne all at once, blushing in the end. Oh this was going to be a fun night!

"Fine", she said putting her flute on of the high tables around the room.

"Would you like to dance?" he asked almost casually.

Sam's eyebrows were a good impression of Teal'c.

"Excuse me?" she asked.

They only had danced in their wedding for maybe five minutes.

"Dance? You know? You, me, music…", he made the gesture with his hands and pointed to dance floor.

"Oh this is going to be good. Sure, Jack I'll dance with you" she said amused.

He held a hand out to her and she took it gently. As their palms made contact Sam immediately felt the usual goosebumps swoop through her skin. Instinctively their eyes locked. Her hand was warmed in his grasp and her fingers fit between his like always did. The next minute they were weaving in and out of dress blues, black suits and dresses and towards the now crowded dance floor.

The band was playing a slow jazz song and Jack moved closer to her, his hands resting on either side of her waist as they began to sway gently to the music. He tugged her a little closer and she was nor pressed against him. In response, she slipped her hands around his neck, their noses inches away from each other. His hands dropped a little lower from her waist as he stroked her hips in circular motions with his thumbs through the thin material of her dress.

Sam briefly closed her eyes and leaned against him to rest the side of her head on his shoulder. Her hand slipped down to his back, holding him close, while he turned his face into her neck.

"Good?" he asked still caressing her.

"Very" she admitted with her yes still closed.

They continue to sway for a while until someone interrupted their sweet moment.

"Colonel Carter?" I didn't know you had returned" said an eager voice forcing Sam to open her eyes and facing General Maurice Vidrine.

Sam and Jack stopped dancing. General Maurice Vidrine oversaw the development and operations of Earth's fleet of spacecraft built using alien technology and was on of Sam's deepest fan.

"General, how nice to see you. Angela, you look lovely", Sam greeted both the General and his wife.

"Dear Samantha you shouldn't appear in this places looking like a model and putting all poor of us to shame. Right Maurice, there should be a law preventing it?" Angela Vidrine said laughing.

General Vidrine had the intelligence to keep his mouth shut.

"Sam is right, Angela, you do look beautiful", Jack said taking her hand to his lips.

"And this is one of the reasons why this man is the President darling" Angela said blushing.

"Jack I think you had enough flirting with my wife" Vidrine said with a little smile.

"If you say so, Maurice", Jack out his hand around Sam's waist.

"So back to D.C., Colonel? Vidrine asked again. He knew perfectly well she was to stay two months on Earth.

"Yes, it has been a long deployment" she said diplomatically.

"Yes it was" he agreed looking at Jack. "Well I hope you have a nice nigh" he said moving around to greet other people.

"Want to sit down a bit" Jack asked pointing to the bar.

"Ok", she nodded.

They sat side by side and Jack ordered a beer for him and a martini for Sam.

"The President should be arriving anytime now" he said looking at the watch.

Sam was distractedly playing with her wedding ring.

"Hum…"

He put his hand on top of hers, bringing her back to the ballroom.

"What are you thinking?" he asked putting the beer down.

"That I would like to go to the cabin, actually" she said looking at him.

Jack smiled broadly. "Really?! You do?!" he asked barely managing to hide his enthusiasm.

"Yes, I think it will be good for us" she said quietly.

"God, Sam! Thank you, you have no idea how that's mean to me" he said relieved.

"Actually I do, Jack that's why I'm agreeing in going there. Like I said before, I want us to be ok again, I want my marriage back" she said her eyes darkening.

He squeezed her hand firmly.

"I want that too, Sam, as much as you do, maybe even more because I was the one that screw up. We can go after this if you want" he said in a serious tone.

"And your work?" she asked.

"Already taken care off. We just need to go pick some clothes and grab a flight. I already have a rental waiting for us at the airport there" he said.

"That confident?!" she asked lifting an eyebrow.

"I have faith in you" he simply said.

Sam drank the rest the of the martini and was spared to continue the discussion because the President and the First Lady arrived at that moment and all the presents stood at attention in the case of the military or just stood up.

Minutes later, President Hayes and his wife were coming towards them and Jack felt a knot in his stomach because everyone was looking at them. The couple had barely entered the room and already pick him as their target. Sweet luck!

"General O'Neill! Colonel Carter-O'Neill", Hayes said extending his hand.

Jack and Sam complimented both the President and his wife.

"So Samantha", Hayes said putting aside the honorific. "I heard you had some problems upon arrival to D.C." he said looking straight to her his tone a little too serious for this kind of occasions.

Sam couldn't help but blush.

"You can say that, Mr. President" she admitted. There was no point denying something the President already knew.

"And has this problem has been taken care of?" he asked keeping looking ate her like jack wasn't even standing next to her.

"We are getting there, Mr. President, thank you for your care and concern" she said smiling a little.

"You know I can always send a certain General trough a ring we shall not name to a place we also not name and leave him there for as long as you want. You know that? I can do that, I'm the President, you know?" he asked smiling.

Jack was suddenly very pale while Sam was very amused.

"Yes I know you're the President, Mr. President. And that you can do that. Let's keep that option open, for the time being" she said with a big smile now.

Hayes padded her hand gently.

"Just say the word, dear" he said and took off.

Sam had to put her hand quickly to her mouth to prevent a giggle while Jack was between being mortified and fainting.

"I'm glad you found that funny" he managed to say.

"Well actually it was rather adorable" she said picking up another flute of champagne from one of the waiters.

"So you have no problem if the President decides to send you husband to another planet and leaves him there indefinitely?! he asked with almost an outrageous voice.

"I'll have to get back to you on that" she said smiling.

"You can be very evil when you want Samantha Carter-O'Neill" he stated crossing his arms.

She put down her flute and looked at him.

"I want to go home, Jack. Now" she said very serious.

"What?!" he asked confused. "You want to leave now?"

She put a hand in his chest and pulled him to her. "Yes now" she ordered her eyes almost dark blue.

"Ok we're leaving" he said immediately, picking up his cell to call his driver. He knew that look.
