Poseidon has many children. Through age of Gods to the age of man.

But not many know. That he has more and less children than people know. Than he should have.

You see…

What comes from the sea belongs to the sea.

One way. Or another.

It was adage old phrase that the Sea Deities know and adhere to.

The water bodies are connected with each other. The rivers led to the sea. And the sea borders on another sea. They may not mix, but they are still large bodies of water. Still be part of wide construct that cover large part of earth. Mix together, they may be not. But belongs together? Yes.

Then, what does the phase relates to how Poseidon has more child than he should have, and in the same time, less children?

Once Upon a time, a child is conceived through a mortal woman and god of the sea.

You all can guess who is the father.

It's Poseidon.

However, at the time, Poseidon is being punished alongside Apollo, for daring to join the riot led by Hera, who was incessant with Zeus' continuous infidelity. Thus, Poseidon is not in any shape to give the child the protection associates to his name. No. Rather than protection, only misery would await, as Poseidon is fully aware that, like any other gods, Zeus is capable of holding a grudge.

Poseidon refuse to let his mortal child bear burden in folly. Just so soon after the birth.

A thought passed his mind.

If the child wasn't his but still related to him, the child would be safe.

Furthermore, because it won't be his child, he can visit them.

Thus he ask for one of his immortal children, Triton, begged him to lay claims upon his future half-sibling to protect him from immortal wrath. Begrudged at first, Triton still appears before the mortal woman at night of delivery. Relaying the message behind the night veil, and lay claims upon the child.

The revenge never befall upon the child. For the child become Triton's, not Poseidon's, thus cannot be harmed lest the deity risked wrath of not one but two sea gods who would work in tandems of exercising their wrath should it be tested; for Triton had come to adore the child he never sired yet fully embrace as his own.

About a number of years later, once again Poseidon's child was claimed by another sea deity.

This time the mother dies in a thunderstorm when she comes out to bought supplies. Leaving the child, three years old and know nothing about danger the world poses to her, alone.

That is. Until Ceto, daughter of Pontus found what happened and took pity upon the child and beg Poseidon to allow her to claims the child as her own. It took seven full moons before Poseidon allowed her to lay claim upon his children.

Another instance, have Proteus, lay claims over twin child of Poseidon after they help him set free from chasers. Poseidon doesn't find out until later, when the children have become adult. At that point in time, it was too late and the claims had been made solid.

That is the beginning of many sprites seek child of the sea god. Not to murder or eaten, but to stolen and claim as their own. Several successful attempts just embolden them.

Originally annoyed, Poseidon finally let it happens on a ground: he gets to try and claim their children as his own. An eye for an eye. It goes double if the original parent happens to be closely relates to him, as it increases the right to claim them as well.

For he had claim Kymopoleia's son as his legacy, but people mistaken it as his own son. And his daughter let him be for Poseidon is Stormbringer and she get her title as Storm goddess from that aspect of him.

Thus, word spreads among the water deities.

If the child is not yet adult, you may lay claim over another sea deity's children. If the child is yours when they reach adulthood, they are yours till death do you apart.

Hence, Poseidon has less children and more children than he should have.

Age of Greece fell, and Age of Roman began. Poseidon take backseat and let Neptune run his course.

The agreement did not change.

Nor when Flame of Civilization moves.

.

At end of World War II, Zeus forced his brothers to swore an oath upon Styx River to not have children.

Poseidon simply make the storm and sea roar louder than anything, drowned any other sounds.

All to hide the fact he did not swore the oath.

The sea deities, and those who has connection to the sea or any body of water, had constantly tried to claims each other kids. It's become to the point if you are born to one, you are related to others. One way or another.

Poseidon doubt he can hold back from claiming a child as his. Even if they are not born to him, they would be his, maybe not today, but one day surely. Thus rendering the oath moot.

There is less painful way to Fading away back into nothingness than breaking the sacred oath of Styx, angering the deity in question in the process.

(After all he still remember a daughter that Styx claims amidst snarl and growl and threats that all Poseidon can do is raised his hands in surrender and slowly back off

He still want to exist, thank you)

Poseidon supposes, he won't have any children for the meanwhile.

Others would be elated.

More children for them to claims. One less competitor.

Ah well.

He can pull in favors to make some adjustments.

.

Perseus Neptune Jackson born at August 18th.

Poseidon visited him when he was baby and coated him in his godly aura. It last brief enough for Olympians to not pick it up, but it would be always present as reminder to other.

Percy Jackson is Poseidon's son and he will not yield the claims to another. Prophecy be damned. He is his son.

River Styx allows it.

For Poseidon did not break his oath. There's no oath for him to break for he never swore upon her name regarding children.

.

"Who are you?" Eleven Year old Percy Jackson asked. "Who am I?"

"One of our many extended relatives, of course."

The one who answer was not Chiron.

It is a girl with long black hair pulled with side braid and shell earring dangling from one ear, who bore same eyes as Percy. Different shape, but the eyes are the same sea-green. Accompanying her was a boy with sea green eyes, not quite like sea but more of a storm, who played with a coin flip.

"Who are you?" Percy asked. Heart beating jackrabbit.

The boy grins. Sharp and wild and reminds Percy of Hurricane of the night his mom disappears in gold light.

"Sup. Name's Jacques Ligre. Son of Kymopoleia."

"Elaine Thames. Daughter of Triton."

Bowing respectfully the girl, Elaine, address Chiron. "We shall take him, if you don't mind."

"…very well." Chiron turned to Percy. "Cabin three. I hope you enjoys your stay here Percy."

"Of course he will." Jacques—and who name their kid that?—grins and slung his hand across Percy's shoulder. "We take care of baby."

"I'm not baby!"

"You're eleven. I'm fifteen. And you are the youngest so until there's a newbie younger than you, you are the baby of the group."

And with that, Percy is pulled to his new home.

(In one world, Percy Jackson would be put to Hermes' Cabin. It won't be until attack of Hellhound for him to get claimed as Son of Poseidon and moved to Cabin Three, empty and sad of life.

In this world, though his parentage is still up to speculation, Percy Jackson had been part of Cabin Three since the beginning. With other children of Water deities welcoming him and make him feel like he is one of them.

In one world, Cabin three has only one occupant. The last son of Poseidon.

In this world, Cabin three accepts any and all child of Water Deities. Minor Ones, Obscured Ones. All children of water have a seat in this Cabin. And those who are related to water.)

"We are child of water." Smiled Elaine with gleams in her eyes. "We stick together and take care of our own, come Tartarus or End of the World."
