A.N: I love this pairing! xD

"Squidward! SQUIDWARD!" Spongebob screamed out at the very top of his lungs, "Oh gosh, Squidward HAS to help me!"

Gary jolted from the loud voice, and he even lowered his eyestalks and grumbled. Spongebob jumped up on the mattress of his bed, and almost - just almost - cracked the ceiling. Well, again. A small rain of debris did occur, albeit not much. He caught sight of Gary rolling his eyes when the sponge started to rub his head. It's a good thing he didn't bang his head too hard this time!

"Why are you saying Squidward won't help me? Of course he will!" Spongebob reassured his precious little Garbear, and still rubbed his head in the process.

In response, Gary just groaned.

"What are you saying it was just a nightmare I had? It was super scary and I need to talk about it with someone!"

Gary wasn't having any of these excuses.

"What do you mean I should just suck it up and go back to sleep? It was a really scary nightmare! Wh-what if it's...prophecy?"

Gary raised a curious eyebrow of stupidity.

"What do you mean evil bunnies aren't going to destroy the world?"

With a huff blowing into the air, the snail settled back down on the newspaper and went to sleep. Avoiding the conversation was probably for the best before Scaredybob Gulliblepants made it escalate. Spongebob just hoped Squidward wouldn't respond in the exact same way like Gary did, but Spongebob believed Squidward was a true friend so maybe he wouldn't.

The only thing Spongebob was wearing was his underwear, and it'd be pretty awkward heading next door without anything else on. He couldn't let his bare spongey skin be exposed to Squidward!

The first thing Spongebob did was wrap his body in a fluffy dressing gown. This dressing gown had a hood on it with two floppy bunny ears on the crown. Spongebob lifted the hood over his head, and now he had bunny ears. They looked so cute! Two white fluffy ears. Meanwhile, Spongebob heard Gary mock him which wasn't nice.

"What do you mean my dressing gown caused me to have nightmares about evil bunnies?"

But this time Gary turned his back to Spongebob and just slithered away.

"Okay, Gary. I'll see you in a little while."

There was zero response from the snail.

In his white, fluffy robe, Spongebob ran next door to Squidward's house. It was too dark and scary to be outside at this time! No wonder why Gary was cranky!

When Spongebob knocked on the door, it creaked. That one creak caused so many horrid possibilities to fill Spongebob's gullible, defenseless brain. The sponge started to scratch his side nervously.

"SQUIDWARD!" Spongebob yelled from both fear of his nightmare and the darkness outside.

The snail rolled over to the bathroom and climbed up to the ledge of the window. Gary watched from the window, but Spongebob didn't notice. The poor sponge was too busy trying to make his way through the darkness of the night. He shot a glance over his shoulder just in case there were one of those killer monsters on the loose. Luckily, Spongebob was standing right in front of Squidward's house, so he would be able to rush inside as soon as Squidward answered.

A patch of seaweed rustled and Spongebob jumped with horror at the sound!

"HAH..."

Spongebob tried his hardest not to knock on the door, but when he did they were very quiet knocks. He didn't want to attract any negative attention at this time of night. Yet, he still screamed out Squidward's name, so the sponge didn't quite cotton on to what he was doing.

The hoot of an owl followed.

"Oh my gosh, the SEA BUNNIES ARE COMING!"

Those once quiet knocks soon turned into chaos. Spongebob was knocking after every split second, and they turned thunderous. Poor Squidward would have to plug peanuts into his ears or something.

"SQUIDWARD!" Spongebob yelled again, hoping that this time Squidward would answer.

The door eventually opened and showed a very annoyed octopus. Spongebob continued to scream, even after Squidward answered. Tears ran down Spongebob's cheeks.

"What do you want, Spongebob? It's two in the morning," he snapped, but Spongebob merely thought it could just be the early morning blues for him. Or the monster sea bunnies. Spongebob just gulped.

"Oh, Squidward! I had a terrible nightmare!"

Squidward's eyes went wide with a look of compassion. He immediately opened his tentacle arms and allowed Spongebob to run into them. Spongebob let his tongue escape his mouth as he hugged Squidward.

"It scared me!" Spongebob cried as he nested his wide, yellow face into Squidward's torso.

But funny thing...Squidward wound up pushing Spongebob at least an inch away from him. This was a sluggish, yet gentle push. The octopus had literally no energy at this hour, unlike the energetic sponge.

"Spongebob, let me remind you not to invade my personal space."

Spongebob wrapped his stringbean arms around his torso as he looked up at Squidward's miserable face. Spongebob was four foot five inches in height, thus he had to look up...UP at Squidward. Even Sandy was taller than Spongebob, and Patrick by a few inches. Those deep ocean blue eyes stared up at Squidward, and even sparkled with water building up.

"U-um...didn't you hug me first, Squidward?"

"No, I didn't. You were daydreaming," Squidward huffed.

"I'm sorry, Squidward. I just can't help myself..." Spongebob moped, "I'm so emotional!" Spongebob added, and those three words sounded quiet and squeaky.

"And what could your nightmare have been about?" Squidward questioned, his eyes looking tired as ever.

And yet, after all this time, Squidward never mentioned Spongebob's fluffy bunny robe. How rude! Spongebob thought his dressing gown looked super cool, and it was snuggly. It was only twenty bucks at Mr. Krabs' car boot sale yesterday - keyword: only.

"Well..." Spongebob finally started after some thought, "I dreamt about these killer bunnies chasing after me. They were giant sea bunnies that came along and destroyed our homes! And even worse, they destroyed the KRUSTY KRAB!" Spongebob screamed in panic as he grabbed his square head with both hands, and his eyes grew wider as the story was told.

"Right," was Squidward's sarcastic response.

"Really, it was scary!"

"I'm sure it was."

"But really, Squidward; it was!"

"Mhm. Killer sea bunnies. I'm sure it was scary."

"Squidward, you HAVE to help me! I think..." Spongebob leaned in and started to whisper in Squidward's ear, "I think the nightmare was prophecy!"

Squidward glanced about his surroundings, lazily checking the front garden with his miserable, judging eyes.

"And you really think giant sea bunnies will attack us?"

Spongebob nodded madly.

"Oh, they will! I just know it! They were giant , fluffy , and had sharp pointy teeth !"

"I'm going to offer you a glass of milk if that makes you sleep for the rest of the night. That means leaving me alone after all this."

At that reply, Spongebob instantly perked up. A wide, cheerful smile appeared.

"Oh boy, really?"

Squidward let out a low sigh of misery.

"If it makes you shut up."

"Aww, please! I'm being real! It's not just for the milk!" Spongebob pulled open Squidward's tentacle arms and hugged him again. He ignored those groans of agony, because that was normal for this hour.

Without this being much of a challenge, Squidward turned around and walked to the kitchen. Spongebob was still clung to his slender torso, albeit Squidward was most likely too tired to even care at this point. If anything, Spongebob enjoyed the ride! Squidward opened the fridge door and poured a single glass of milk.

He didn't even let Spongebob stay, though.

Returning to the door, Squidward peeled Spongebob off his torso and placed him outside on his feet. Squidward then gave Spongebob the glass of milk.

"Good night, Spongebob," he said before closing the door on his face.

Well, that's okay! At least Spongebob wasn't thinking about those giant sea bunnies anymore. Spongebob turned around and walked back home. Gary fell asleep at this point, and he was still perched on the bathroom window ledge. Hopefully this glass of milk helps Spongebob sleep.

But there were butterflies in his stomach as well! All that hugging made Spongebob feel loved.
