This story was a challenge to me because Menoa is not a villain but she's no hero either, but I do feel she'd think of herself as the hero. God, that is messed up and messed up aint always easy to write. That said, for the title, my intention is not to steal from the beloved movie, but this title was fitting however I can change it if someone gets offended by it. I do see that point of view. This is written for the whumptober Day 14 'desperate measures'.
This had been the only way. Why did Tai and Matt not understand? Did they want to say goodbye to their partners? This was the only way.
"What is wrong with you?" Menoa said to Tai and Matt who kept getting back up no matter how much Eosmon knocked them back. "The more you fight, the less time you have."
"That doesn't matter," Matt said, clenching a fist. "We don't want to say goodbye to our partners, but we can't remain kids forever. We can't trap people in their memories even if we think it's right."
"They all wanted this," Menoa insisted. Why didn't he understand? Why didn't they understand? They loved their partners, and this was the only way they could stay with them forever. It was the only way everything could remain the way it was. If they would continue to get in the way of the world she desired, a world where children never grew up and remained with their digimon forever – then they would die with their partners. She wouldn't let them ruin everything she had been working towards. She had waited so long – too long to see Morphomon again, to tell her that she didn't want to grow up if it meant saying goodbye to her. It had been her decision before she had realised the consequences. She just wanted to see her partner again, to help the others not lose their partners. Tai and Matt were nothing but barriers in the way.
"Menoa, come on," Tai said, breathing heavily. "This isn't right, don't you see that?"
"What isn't right is your insistence to sit back and let your partners disappear," Menoa said coldly, her fist clenching as she glared at them. "I'm getting my partner back. And you're only getting in the way." She stepped toward them before looking back at all the DigiDestined she and Eosmon had possessed. "They're trying to ruin our dreams. Trap them."
