AN/1Welcome to the three way crossover nobody asked for, lol. When I first came up with this idea of mixing my favorite series it was this story I came up with first, but then I realized that I needed to set the scene so to speak. A huge thanks to my amazing beta, if you seen any mistakes it is because I can't leave well enough alone, lol. I do hope you enjoy! So here it is the last part to my xtreme crossover series.
General Samantha Carter, the head of Stargate command, stood at the front of the two SG teams that were assembled in the conference room. One of their allies had informed Stargate Command about ruins ,which had potential to be from the Ancients, that had been recently discovered on a nearby planet . Dr. Daniel Jackson had jumped at the chance to explore the newly discovered ruins, so Carter had assembled two teams, SG-13 and SG-16. SG-13 was led by Colonel Dean Winchester, and consisted of his brother Dr. Sam Winchester, Dr. Charlie Bradburn, and Dr. Rowena MacLeod. While SG-19 was comprised of Jack Dalton, Angus MacGyver, Corporal Riley Davis, and Wilt Bozer. They were an odd team being as they were mostly made up of civilians. Both Dalton and Mac had been deployed in the Army and Dalton had retained his rank as a Master Sargent, so he was the de facto leader of SG-16. But they all deferred to Mac, whom Dalton referred to as their resident genius unless it was a tactical issue, at which point the team listened to Dalton. The two teams had been chosen because of their combined intellect and military prowess. Or as Jack had said it they had both the brawn and the brains.
"Thank you for being more or less on time," Gen. Carter said as Dean and Dalton slipped in and found seats with their teams. "I sent out a dossier with all the vital information, but I know how some of you are." She paused to fix her eyes once again on Dalton and Dean before continuing, "So Dr. Jackson's going to go over all the things you'll need to know." Dalton started to groan but Mac shot him a look.
"Huh?" Daniel asked, as he hadn't been paying attention to Gen. Carter because he had been going over the papers he was about to present to the teams. "Oh yeah, P3X-285." He paused to grab all his papers and to push his glasses up. "If you'll, uh," He waved the papers at the assembled group and stood facing them. "So yeah, we got a report that there are some Ancient ruins on the planet. As a result, we sent in the MALP and the ruins look promising. The local village also has a library so hopefully we can get some background information on the ruins especially if they turn out not to be built by the Ancients." Grinning at the possibility of new Ancient tech he pushed his glasses back up his face, "So to that end we're going to be divided into two groups. One to assess the ruins and the other to start researching at the Library. Uhhh," He paused as he rifled through the papers he had been holding finding the correct one. "Going to the library with me are Rowena, Dr. Winchester, Cpl. Davis, and Bozer. At the ruins will be Mac, Dr. Bradbury, Dalton, and Col. Winchester. Any questions about that?"
Dean spoke up, "Why do you have Charlie at the ruins? Davis is great with tech, so I'd have her at the ruins while Charlie goes to the library, it's like her natural environment being part of the geek squad and all."
Charlie turned in her chair to face Dean and gleefully flipped him off. "It's Queen Geek to you. Remember RenFest last week?" Turning back around she told Dr. Jackson, "And he's correct, I haven't met a library that I didn't love. Unlike that fae at the Renfest…" Her voice trailed off as she remembered where she was at.
Before the room could dissolve into chaos Daniel continued, "Fine. Dr. Bradbury will join the team going to the library and Cpl. Davis will join the team going to the ruins. If that's all the questions you have I think the dossier Sam e-mailed you contained everything else. If you would please read it." He blinked a few times knowing good and well that only half of them would even bother, but the half that did read it would inform the half that didn't so it all evened out in the end.
Gen Carter stepped back up, "You have your assignments and your mission is set to start in three hours, see you in the gate room."
As the two SG teams left joking and talking among themselves Daniel turned to Carter, "That went well, right?"
Carter sighed and led him back to her office. "As good as a briefing with them ever is. With them together it reminds me of the early days with Kawasaki and Feretti. Daniel raised his eyebrows at that and Carter changed the subject back to the planet they were headed to, "So what do you think we'll find on P3X-285?"
Daniel pulled out the pictures that the MALP had sent back and set them on her desk, "You see the writing here, and here?" He said pointing at the images, "Both look to be in Ancient, but the resolution isn't high enough for me to be able to read them. I'm not sure if the rest is in a local language or if it's in code. That's why I assigned MacGyver to the ruins, he has a good understanding of Ancient, a good head for mechanics and is a great puzzle solver."
Smiling Sam said, "I was the one to recruit him and Dalton into the program." She laughed, "Dalton showed up in his night clothes."
Chuckling Daniel set out a couple more pictures of the ruins, "I'm hoping it's not another repository of knowledge. Jack's not here to stick his head in it, again."
Carter turned somber, "Twice was enough. If you encounter another one, please don't let any of them sick their heads in there, meeting the Asgard and finding the weapons platform was wonderful, but I can do without anyone almost dying, again."
Daniel nodded and started to gather up his papers, "Fair enough. Did you hear back from Teal'c about whether he was coming to the get together at your house this weekend? Vala's going to try to make it back, but I think she's just in it for the pie."
Laughing Carter then schooled her face and mimicked Teal'c, "I shall endeavor to make it to your feast on time."
"Great, and Mitchell?"
"His class reunion is at the same time, I told him no aliens this year." They both paused for a second.
Daniel frowned, "I'm not the best at American public schools, but aren't reunions every ten years?"
"Mitchell said something about it being 35 years and to be honest I wasn't paying that much attention. He needed a break after all the ups and downs SG-1's being going through lately.
Secretly Daniel felt kind of sorry for Mitchell. He had wanted to lead SG-1, and they had a good year or so together before Carter had been sent to Atlantis, Teal'c had become more involved with the Jaffa, and he took on more of a research role and only going off planet as needed. They had tried to add other members, but no one really worked, so right then there wasn't really an SG-1. Daniel sighed, "well I better go and make sure that I have everything I need to dig through a pile of old manuscripts."
"You love it, I'll see you in the gate room," Carter bade him good bye as she turned to her computer.
Jack Dalton sighed as he slipped his favorite Glock into his thigh holster, and then grabbed the P-90 that most of Stargate command carried while off world.
"So, MacGyver's never carried a gun? I knew he refused during training, but I figured that was due to the action y'all saw when you were in the army." Dean asked incredulously as he stood beside Dalton in the armory getting their weapons ready for the trip. "I figured once he had time to process and saw what it was like actually going off world he would reconsider."
"Like I told you before Dean, not everybody's a gun freak," the younger Winchester commented.
Dean caressed his Desert Eagle as he slid it into his holster. "It's the military Sammy, everybody carries."
"He is right, Sam" Charlie piped in. She too was gearing up, "As much as I don't ever want to use it, I still carry one for protection."
"I don't know what to tell you man, he's refused to carry a gun ever since I've known him." Dalton started towards the door to join the rest of the team in the gate room for their departure. He paused, "I've never gotten the full story outta him, so you're either going to have to ask him or Bozer if you really want to know." With that he walked out to join the rest of his team who along with Rowena were already in the Gate room ready to depart.
Jack shook his head. Dean was such a busy body sometimes. He hadn't pressed too much about Mac's refusing to carry during training, but this was their first joint mission together so Jack figured that Dean was curious on how it would effect him and his team.
Since this was a peacekeeping and exploration mission to a friendly world Jack had forgone wearing the helmet and instead went with the green ball cap to match his BDU's. "Fancy meeting you here," he greeted the team as he joined them adjusting his cap to his liking.
"You only think you're funny," Riley said dryly.
"Oh, I know I'm funny." Jack shot back.
"Yeah, funny looking!" Bozer quipped, laughing.
"You did walk into that one, Jack." Mac said grinning, he had his hair pulled back by a bandana unlike the rest of the team.
Huffing Jack straightened his hat, "Y'all keep this up and I'm going to join SG-13. Their roster changes frequently enough. Or I could join SG-2, they know how to take a joke."
"As much fun as you are Dearie, our team's full right now." Rowena said sweetly as she came up beside Jack facing the Stargate. Jack liked the petite Scottish redhead, most people he had met with a PhD required you to call them Dr, but upon their first meeting she had insisted on just being called Rowena, "Just because I conjured up a doctorate doesn't mean that I want to be called Dr. MacLeod. Rowena's been serving me fine the last few hundred years." Jack hadn't been sure what exactly that meant, but he went with it.
Riley turned away from the gate to face Rowena, "Plus you wouldn't want Jack, he's loud and thinks he's the king of karaoke."
"He's also obsessed with his car," Bozer added.
"And he hovers, like an over protective grizzly," Mac finished.
Rowena giggled, "It sounds like you all are describing our dear sweet Dean."
"Who's describing me?" Dean's deep voice carried as he entered with Sam and Charlie following close behind him. Not waiting for an answer, he continued, "Now where's Dr. Jackson, I'm ready to get this show on the road."
"Here! I'm here!" Dr. Jackson called as he jogged into the room. "Sorry I'm late I was grabbing the books I thought might could aid us." He held up his pack which looked heavy. "Does everyone remember who is on each team?" There were mutterings of agreement from the gathered teams. "Good, we'll spit up at the 'gate with one team staying with the ruins and the other following me to the library in the town." Dr. Jackson got nods of affirmation from them.
"SG-13 and SG-16 are you ready?" Gen. Carter's voice asked over their comms units. "Yes ma'am," they all answered and gave her the thumbs up then split into the two groups with Dr. Jackson's group in the lead. "Walter, dial it up."
Jack looked up at the large glass windows overhead where Gen. Carter stood in the control room, it was his favorite view in the whole complex, seeing the gate from up there. In front of them the inner ring of the giant circle known as the Stargate started to spin.
Dr. Jackson sighed, "You know back in the old days Walter used to call out when each chevron engaged."
"You know, then I realized that the SG teams had eyes and could see the chevrons engaging." Was the pithy reply from Chief Master Sargent Walter Harriman, who had been transferred back to the SGC from Homeworld when Gen. Carter took command of the base. "And chevron seven locked, wormhole engaged."
At that the Stargate whooshed outwards. No matter how many times Jack saw the gate in action, it still made his stomach lurch for a minute before he got his nerves under control, a fact he would never admit to anyone upon pain of death. Right after they had joined the SGC, Mac had taken great pleasure in explaining exactly how the Stargate worked, which still made his stomach flop if he thought about it too much.
"Good luck teams, you are good to go," General Carter said. Dr. Jackson took that as his signal and stepped into the shimmering blue pool with the rest of the teams following right behind him.
As Dalton stepped through the gate, he felt a moment of disorientation, next a second of cold, and then he was walking down the steps onto a new planet that looked surprisingly like Kansas. The planet had the same look of overgrown grasses along with a similar drone of insects in the distance. Around the Stargate were areas where the grass was shorter and Jack saw a path that led off into the distance to what he presumed was the village. Dean stepped up beside him and they bumped knuckles.
Daniel stopped for a second to make sure everybody had come through the gate and when he saw that they had he then pointed down the path, "The village is this way. Everybody be sure to stay with your group and keep in radio contact."
"Ten-four," Dean acknowledged. Then the village group set off down the pathway. "Try not to have a nerdgasm Sammy." Dean called to his brother's retreating back. Sam's only response was a raised middle finger.
Stifling a laugh Jack looked around for where his team was supposed to go and noticed that Mac had set off and was already a good distance ahead of them.
Dean noticed too, "Looks like someone doesn't know how to stay with the group."
"Yeah, I can't take my eyes off of him for a second or he'll disappear." Dalton said as he and Dean set off after Mac's retreating back. Riley fell in beside him. "It's been like this since I met the kid."
"It's because you're so slow, old man" Riley teased as she set off to catch up with Mac.
"Kids these days," Jack lamented to Dean as they started to follow Mac and Riley.
"I know. I get absolutely no respect from Sam despite being his superior officer and all." Dean said sighing dramatically as they continued to hike down the path. "So, what do ya think we'll find?"
"Probably just a bunch of rocks, old half fallen rocks with carvings most likely, and maybe some Ancient tech. Emphasis on maybe, and some more rocks." Jack responded. "You?"
"Sounds about right. Nice and boring." Dean said as he nodded and looked up at the sky, "Maybe I can work on my tan."
Dalton snorted in reply, hoping that Dean hadn't jinxed them. After a few more minutes of steady walking the ruins came into view. He had been right. The site was a bunch of half-fallen rocks with pictographs and symbols carved onto them, and the MALP parked beside it. Riley and Mac had already unpacked their bags and left them on top of the MALP, using it as a makeshift table. Jack motioned towards a spot off to the side and dropped his pack. "What'cha think Dean, every five minutes one of us takes a lap around the ruins while the wonder twins do their thing?"
Dropping his pack in a clear area off to the side that had a good view of both the ruins and the rest of the team Dean replied, "Sounds like a plan I can get behind. Want to do a preliminary walk around to get the lay of the land and make sure all looks well?"
Jack nodded and placed his pack beside Dean's. They inspected the area around the ruins making sure nothing looked booby trapped or out of place. When they decided that everything appeared as secure as a pile of crumbling rocks could be, they returned to their packs . The two of them sat with Riley and Mac in their line of sight, talking and scanning the area for any other signs of danger. "So…best planet you've been on?"
"Easy, P4A-2X5. They had some sort of pink drink concoction that makes you see three of everybody and the ladies are very, very friendly." Dean grinned remembering. "But not hangover the next morning! How about you?"
"Haven't had as much luck with the ladies, but there was this one planet where they thought we were the Ancients because Mac made everything light up like a Christmas tree. We were wined and dined for a night before Mac convinced them that we were just regular people. Then they kicked us out because they were so disappointed." Their conversation flowed easily and they checked in on Mac & Riley and took turns patrolling the perimeter every five minutes and check in with the library team every thirty minutes. Several hours had passed and it was Dean's turn to walk the lap. He had just walked past Mac when the younger man called out to him. Dean waited while Mac jogged over with a piece of rock in his hand.
"What does that look like to you?" Mac pointed at one of the runes. As Mac was speaking a sharp whine came from the sky grabbing Dean's attention. Without thinking Dean pulled his weapon, having set his P-90 down beside his pack, eyes alert for danger. A set of transport rings encircled them, the lights glowed bright, then they were gone.
