xxDustNight88 came up with the idea to write 28 drabbles inspired by fluffy, romantic prompts that she found for the month of February 2023. After consulting with her and opting not to give my muse - who has been on vacation - a choice in the matter, we talked about me writing a series of break-up drabbles. We all know that life isn't all fluff and romance, so I wanted to support the heartbreak that sometimes happens, especially this time of year. dumplingsjinson compiled a list of prompts meant to inspire "it's not you, it's me" scenarios between characters and posted it to Tumblr.
Once I found the list of prompts that I liked, I reached out to people who follow me on social media as members of my fanfiction Facebook group, followers of my fanfiction page on Facebook, followers of my fanfiction Instagram, Tumblr followers, and people on one of the discord servers I'm a member of to prompt me potential pairings for which prompt they would like to see written.
So, you will see many fandoms if you follow this series on Ao3 from now until the end of the month. There will be some days with multiple stories posted so I can use all of the prompts I found - if the muse decides to cooperate. Or if you just find yourself here for one of the stories because it falls into a fandom or pairing that you enjoy reading. I will apologize in advance for any heartbreak you may find because I have broken my heart many times while writing the stories for this series on Ao3. If you are following me on FanFiction, you will see the stories as individual stories posted throughout the month with the name Falling Starrs before the title of the actual story.
According to Urban Dictionary, a breakup is defined as "when two people have to let each other go. Despite the fact that one of them loves the other one truly. The girl or the guy in your case, decides that the two of you are not compatible for each other. Hopefully the two of the people can remain friends, though that is hard for guys to do, because we hold on. But always remember, there are more than six billion people on this planet. So though you may not want to hear it, the chances of this person being the one, are less than winning the lottery. I know it's tough but you have to move on after a break up.."
I hope you enjoy this heartbreaking adventure that we are about to embark on!
Happy reading!
Love always,

Code Black: An influx of patients so great, there aren't enough resources to treat them.
Mario glanced up at the clock on the wall and let out a sigh. Chaos was about to ensue at any moment, and Angus was missing in action. "Where the hell is he?" he mumbled to himself, shaking his head.
"Where the hell is who?" Dr. Rorish asked, raising a brow as she skimmed over the charts in her arms. A frown pulled at her lips as she glanced up at Mario, narrowing her eyes. "Where's Angus?"
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Mario replied, shrugging his shoulders. Out of the corner of his eye, Mario noticed the back of Angus' head moving toward the locker room. "I'll be right back."
"Hurry," Rorish called, drawing her attention back to the charts. "All hell is about to break loose."
Mario nodded his head once and spun on his heels, taking off after Angus. He watched as Angus ducked into the locker room. Mario slipped past the group of doctors who were coming out and made his way inside. He noticed Angus at the sink splashing water on his face.
"There you are," Mario said, letting out a sigh as he leaned up against the lockers. He could see his reflection in the mirror above Angus' head. "Where the hell have you been?"
"Out," Angus replied, splashing the cool water on his face.
Mario rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. "Could you be a little more specific? You're just lucky you got in here before Momma and Rorish started asking questions."
Angus rolled his eyes, shutting the sink off and turning to face Mario. He crossed his arms over his chest and squared up to the man standing in front of him. "Where I was is none of your damn business. Now if you could get out from in front of my locker," Angus said, narrowing his gaze.
Mario pushed off the locker and took a step closer to Angus. He focused his attention on the fact that Angus' pupils were dilated. He inhaled deeply and noticed the familiar scent of Jack Daniels floating in the air around them. "Are you drunk?" Mario asked, cocking his head to the side.
"What do you care?" Angus scoffed, brushed past Mario, and began fiddling with the lock on his locker. He inputted the combination and pulled on the opener, but it refused to move. Angus sighed, smacking the locker with his open palm, and spun the dial around three times before trying again.
"You aren't going out in the middle of a code black if you're drunk," Mario said, pressing his hand against the door to the locker Angus was trying to open. He held it shut as the other man tried to get it open.
"There was a point when I cared about doing everything by the rules," Angus said, shaking his head. "But then I met you."
"Me?" Mario asked, furrowing his brow. "What the hell does that mean?"
"You get away with everything," Angus spat, shoving Mario away from the lockers.
Mario stumbled back a few steps, brushing up against the bench. He took a seat on the bench and carded a hand through his hair.
"You break all of the rules and never get yelled at by Rorish or Momma or anyone, but the second I do something out of line, I get the book thrown at me," Angus yelled, cupping his face with his hands. He exhaled sharply and scrubbed his hands over his face, carding them through his hair. "It's not fair."
"Wow," Mario said, shaking his head as he pushed himself up from the bench. "Splashing your face with water isn't going to get the stench of Jack Daniels off of you, and it certainly won't do anything about your bloodshot eyes."
"I'm fine," Angus said, shaking his head.
"No, you aren't," Mario said, placing his hands on Angus' shoulders. "You need to go home."
"You can't tell me what to do," Angus replied, stepping past Mario and making his way toward the door. "We're in code black, aren't we?"
"You can't treat patients!" Mario yelled, watching Angus storm out of the locker room. He knotted his hands into fists at his side and cursed under his breath. He made his way quickly into the emergency room and chased after Angus, and he had to stop him before he could treat anyone in his condition - or at least warn Momma and Rorish about what was going on.
