Hey, I decided I wanted to make this short little oneshot, just because. (And because I'm slow with the main chapters of NC, so I'd thought I'd treat y'all to a poorly written oneshot... idk why)

Kai trudged along the Bounty, swearing he saw someone run up. As he stalked around below deck, he soon heard shuffling in the sleeping cabin, and Kai slowly opened the door, peeking in.

Shrouded in shadows near a mirror was a creature. Kai was startled, but he reminded himself to stay strong; he was brave, he was tough. Ninja don't back down from a fight!

The creature turned around almost as soon as Kai opened the door… and it turned out to be Lloyd.

"Lloyd, what are you doing here?" Kai asked lethargically, rubbing his eyes.

"I… uh-" Lloyd started, his voice trailing off. Kai lowered his hands, looking Lloyd up and down before quickly noticing something out of place.

Is that-!?

"L-Lloyd. I-I think you have a… a…" Kai stuttered, shocked that his little brother was growing a tail. It wasn't very long, but it was definitely getting there.

Not to mention it's still a tail!

"Yeah, I know Kai. That's why I went up here," Lloyd sighed, turning around and facing the mirror, presumably to check on his tail.

He's probably really scared.

"A- are you okay?" Kai asked, slowly walking up to his brother. He put his hand on Lloyd's shoulder, and the Green Ninja just looked at him for a couple minutes.

"I guess," Lloyd muttered, and Kai pulled his little brother into a hug.

"I'm sorry Lloyd," Kai whispered, patting the Green Ninja on the back, trying to not hit his wings at the same time, which made the once affectionate gesture more awkward than originally intended. Kai felt Lloyd's arms wrap around him, and the two sat there for a couple of minutes, embracing.

After their hug, Kai led Lloyd to sit on the fire ninja's bed with him.

"Do… do you want to talk about what's happening?" Kai asked, wrapping his arm around his little brother in a side hug. Lloyd let out a shuddering sigh, glancing at Kai.

"S-sure," Lloyd muttered, suddenly sounding really sad. Kai noticed that Lloyd's eyes were getting really watery, and his lip trembled. "I-I…"

Lloyd burst out into tears, covering his face with his hands.

"I hate this! I hate it, I hate it, I hate it!" Lloyd sobbed, and Kai rubbed his little brother's back, not sure what to do. "I don't feel like myself! I don't look like myself! I ran away against my own will! I can't think straight!"

"I'm so sorry," Kai muttered, feeling Lloyd shiver as he cried.

"A- and whenever it h-happens… whenever I transform… it hurts soooo b-bad! I can't t-take it!" Lloyd weeped, raising his head from his hands and looking up at Kai, as if there was something the fire elemental could do. "I j-just wish it n-never happened! I wish t-the transformation never started in the f-first p-p-place!"

"It's gonna be okay Lloyd. I promise. Everything is gonna be okay?" Kai hushed, holding his little brother, feeling his salty tears soak his pjs. But Kai didn't care, as long as his brother was comforted he was fine with it.

What's a little bit of water to me when Lloyd is suffering here?

"W-w-what if it's not? What i-if things don't go back t-to normal?" Lloyd whimpered, looking up as Kai with shining eyes from his tears.

"They will. I promise. Everything will be okay, okay?" Kai told him, brushing his little brother's hair out of his face. A small smile creeped up on Lloyd's face, and Kai squeezed him in one final hug before standing up.

"Let's head back down. If you don't get to bed soon then you'll be exhausted in the morning."
