Toshi & Nami & Kurogane, Kish, & Sayuri:

Kurogane, Kish, and their younger sister, Sayuri, lived peacefully in a small town just outside of Tokyo with their grandparents, Toshi and Nami.

The three of them have lived with their grandparents for the last six years—since Kish and Sayuri's father/Kurogane's stepfather killed their mother in a drunken rage. Along with being drunk, he claimed he became so angry with her because she "forgot" to do some of the housework.

The truth was that Sayuri was exceptionally ill and needed a lot of attention at the time. Their mother didn't have the time to get everything done because she felt her daughter was more important than housework.

It didn't matter that Kurogane and Kish helped get done whatever they could. Nope. That only made their father angrier because men shouldn't be doing any "domestic crap;" that's a woman's job.

So, when their father got home to a "messy" house, he became enraged and beat their mom until Sayuri walked out of her room. He then shot their mom in the head before going after Sayuri. However, before he even got the chance, Kurogane and Kish walked inside and saw what their father had done and was about to do.

Kish was shot in the upper arm (halfway between his shoulder and elbow) when he pushed a very frozen Sayuri out of the way.

Kurogane got away with only a scratch before beating his stepfather to a bloody pulp. The only reasons he stopped were the police showed up and attempted to pull him off. The other reason was he heard Sayuri crying.

Police were called when a concerned neighbor complained. Their father was taken to jail without bail and later placed in prison for twenty years.

Kish was taken to the hospital, where he made a quick recovery.

Two months later, their father apologized, saying he was sorry and regretted drinking and beating and shooting their mother—and Kish. He begged for forgiveness, and when they refused, he went off on them, calling them ungrateful, good-for-nothing ingrates.

At the time, Kurogane was thirteen, Kish was eleven, and Sayuri was only nine. She took it really hard and blamed herself, and she still does to this day—no matter what Kurogane and Kish tell her.

Since then, they have become even more protective older brothers to their little sister.

Their grandfather, Toshi, says Sayuri relies on Kurogane and Kish too much and needs to grow up.

Their grandmother, Nami, disagrees and says Sayuri is right where she needs to be.

Kurogane, Kish, and Sayuri are all single and currently have no interest in dating.

Kurogane came out as gay when he was fifteen and hasn't met very many gay men to date in or around the area they live. He has dated before, though:

The first guy he dated when he was fifteen cheated on him.

The second guy, he was sixteen, and they technically didn't break up. After a few weeks of dating, the guy just came out to his parents; they freaked out and sent him to some reform camp to "fix" gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people.

The third and final guy he dated, he was still sixteen and went on until he was seventeen and a half. He, however, broke up with him when he found out he wasn't out of the closet. Well, that's not necessarily the only reason. Kurogane didn't want to be anyone's dirty little secret. And we do mean dirty because the guy told everyone he knew that Kurogane was his personal bodyguard, chauffeur, and "butler."

The third guy Kurogane dated came out to his family and friends a week after they broke up in hopes of getting him back. NOPE. Not after everything he said.

Kish, so far, has only dated one girl; he started dating her when he was fifteen/sixteen. They dated for seven months before he broke up with her because she became overly clingy, demanding, and insanely jealous of Sayuri; she didn't like Kurogane after a while, either. And she was always saying crap.

Last year, Sayuri met a boy when she, her brothers, and her grandparents went out for a family dinner. He was with his family as well. He was a little older, very kind, polite, and charming. They went out on one date, and that was that. He tried pressuring her into having sex with him, but she denied his every plea and advance. He didn't like to be told no. The guy beat her and attempted to rape her. However, someone passing by saved her. He was arrested but was released on a five-thousand-dollar bail the next day and then moved to Russia with his family—but not before Kurogane beat the ever-loving shit out of him.

Kurogane was arrested and put in jail for three hours. The judge heard about what happened to Sayuri and felt the guy deserved what he got, so he let it slide.

Kurogane is nineteen with short, black spiky hair and red eyes.

Kish is seventeen with shoulder-length forest-green hair and amber eyes.

Sayuri is fifteen with long, dark, lightly waved green hair with a black shine reaching her upper back and reddish-orange eyes.

The three of them have jobs to help their grandparents for all they've done for them. However, a few weeks ago, they had to quit their jobs and move several hours away to a place called the Kakushi-mura of Himawari no Tani.

About a week ago, Kish and Sayuri witnessed the murder of a very wealthy and important couple in the little town where they lived.

Flashback:

Kish and Sayuri were leaving some store after buying groceries for the house when they heard a woman screaming and a man yelling obscenities.

"I wonder what's going on." Sayuri softly spoke, looking in the direction they heard the screams.

"I don't know, but I'm going to go find out." Kish replied, deciding to investigate.

Kish was curious, and Sayuri didn't want to be alone, so she went with him.

Sayuri did her best to keep up with Kish and was right behind him when he stopped.

"Kish, what's going on?" Sayuri asked and then saw what Kish was looking at.

Kish just stood there, watching the scene in front of them, shocked, before coming to his senses to get him and his sister out of there.

"Kish?" Sayuri asked, scared.

"Shhh. Everything will be ok, Sayuri. Just be quiet and back up slowly; we'll go get the police." Kish instructed, guiding her back the way they came.

Everything was going well until Sayuri tripped over a raised part of the sidewalk and fell backward, dropping everything she had. That's when they heard two gunshots, and the couple who had been begging for their lives earlier went silent. It didn't take them long to realize that the couple was dead.

The man who had committed the murder saw Sayuri and started charging her. That's when Kish dropped his groceries, grabbed Sayuri's arm, and started running.

"Hey! What's going on?" Kurogane demanded after seeing his brother and sister running.

"Some guy just shot the Encino couple—and he saw us." Kish answered.

"Because I fell and dropped the groceries." Sayuri guiltily added, looking down.

Just then, the man was heard yelling at them.

"It's not your fault. Now, come on before he gets too close. Kish, go." Kurogane replied, putting Sayuri over his shoulder before taking off with Kish ahead of them.

"You won't get away from me!" The man yelled, chasing them. At the same time, he started shooting. However, he missed every shot.

Kurogane was on the track team when he was in school; he also did other various running activities, requiring him to carry objects that were over a hundred pounds. Right now, he can run with one-hundred-thirty pounds: Sayuri is roughly one-hundred-eight pounds—now. The other various running activities were training for if anything like this were to happen.

Kish isn't in school; he's home-schooled. However, he plays soccer and runs track at the local school. He was just that good, and it helped that Kurogane already went to school there and was his older brother.

Sayuri is primarily home-schooled; she has nothing to do with public school except to cheer Kish on during his soccer games or track.

"What's going on?" A police officer questioned when Kish and Kurogane burst through the doors of the police station out of breath.

"Some guy was chasing and shooting at my brother and sister." Kurogane answered.

"He shot and killed the Encino couple." Kish declared.

They continued explaining what they witnessed, and a few officers went to investigate their claims.

Not only did they find everything they were told to be accurate, but the guy who did it was also there, trying to cover everything up. He was immediately arrested, and once he saw Kish and Sayuri, he warned them that he had friends who would take care of them. Then he saw Kurogane and nearly pissed himself.

After everything, the police took Kurogane, Kish, and Sayuri home.

A few days later, a top government official showed up at their door and explained that the man they had arrested was part of an extremely dangerous organization and had connections in Japan, China, France, Italy, Germany, and America. They were not safe.

The government official explained that witness protection would be the best thing for them until they could find every last one of that guy's informants, confidants, partners, and bosses were apprehended. He then left the family for a few minutes to allow them to discuss.

Toshi was not thrilled with the idea, but everyone agreed to go into witness protection for their safety.

The government official had them pack the essentials. Once they were out of the house, his team of explosive experts blew it to smithereens—much to Toshi's horror; he built that house with his bare hands and had been living there for the last thirty years.

After a long car ride to Kyoto, the family was placed in the capable hands of Akio Tokawa, one of the head coordinators of their witness protection program. He would be the one transferring them to their new place of residency that only he and a few of his closest people know of. He would make all the places and figure out where they would go to school, therapy, and everything they may need to be situated.

It was also mentioned that they'd have a few roommates in the same situation.

End Flashback:

So, there they were, with the other families, standing in front of this massive mansion-like house, staring in awe at how big it was.

Shintaro, Sakura, Ichigo, & Rini, & Koji, Jen, Ami, & Mint:

Ichigo and Rini are the daughters of Shintaro and Sakura.

Ichigo is fifteen with shoulder-length red hair, usually tied in pigtails, and brown eyes.

Rini is twelve with pink down to her mid-back tied up in pigtails and red eyes.

Ami and Mint are the daughters of Koji and Jen and are sixteen months apart.

Ami is sixteen with short blue hair and blue eyes.

Mint is fifteen with shoulder-length dark blue hair tied up in perfectly tight buns and brown eyes.

Before witness protection, they lived in the center of Tokyo, Japan. But now they will be living in Kakushi-mura Himawari no Tani.

The two families are family friends, with Jen and Sakura being friends since they were little children.

Sakura married Shintaro, a simple, hardworking man.

Jen married Koji, a hardworking rich man.

Both families brought their children up with the mentality that you respect and treat others how you want to be treated.

Koji and Shintaro are always working to provide for their families, so they rarely see their wives or daughters.

Jen and Sakura try to spend time with their girls, but because they're teenagers, they rarely want to spend time with them. That's what Fridays are for.

None of the girls had extraordinary social lives:

Ami didn't have any friends; she was always too busy studying for something or other. Or she always had her face in a book. Going into the witness protection program wasn't a huge deal for her; she could still study, read, and prepare for college.

Ichigo and Mint are friends but don't always get along. Outside of each other, they had one mutual friend who liked them both for who they were. Neither girl minded being placed in witness protection after what they went through.

However, Rini had two friends she was super close with, so she's against being placed in witness protection and having to move. As much as she loves her sister, she didn't want to be uprooted because of something that happened to Ichigo and Mint.

Getting why they've been placed in the program:

Like Mint, Ichigo and Mint's mutual friend belongs to a high society. She and her family are the reason they're going into witness protection.

Flashback:

"Ichigo, make sure you be polite and courteous while you're there!" Sakura called as Ichigo left to spend the night at her friend's house.

"I will!" Ichigo called back, waving goodbye for the night.

"About time." Mint mumbled when Ichigo made it to the bus station.

"I'm on time, aren't I? In fact, I'm a few minutes early. The bus doesn't arrive for another three minutes. What? How early did you arrive here?" Ichigo retorted, watching Mint.

"Shut up." Mint grumbled, embarrassed.

After a fifteen-minute bus ride, Ichigo and Mint got to their friend, Sheeta's house.

Upon arriving, the butler opened the door to let them in.

Sheeta's family was one of Japan's wealthiest families and lived in a big mansion with two butlers, three maids, and at least four chefs or cooks and bakers.

"Ichigo, Mint: you made it. I'm so happy" A young girl with dark brown hair and golden eyes calmly spoke, greeting the girls, meeting them at the bottom of the stairs. This was the first time Ichigo and Mint had been to Sheeta's house.

"Of course, we made it. You still want us here, don't you?" Ichigo questioned, watching Sheeta.

"Of course, she wants me here. I don't about you, though." Mint teased Ichigo.

"Of course, I do. I'm glad you both could make it. Come on, I'll show you my room." Sheeta insisted, taking the girls upstairs.

When they got to Sheeta's room, neither Ichigo nor Mint could believe how big it was.

'This one of the biggest bedrooms I've ever seen; it's at least two—maybe three of my room in one big one.' Ichigo thought to herself, looking around, amazed.

'What the hell?! Her room is five times bigger than mine! This just isn't right! No! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! It shouldn't matter what she has; we're friends!' Mint mentally yelled at herself.

For the next few hours, the girls gossiped and played games. Sometime in between all the fun and games, they ate dinner.

Finally, it was time for bed.

Around one in the morning, Ichigo, Mint, and Sheeta heard screaming coming from down the hall, shortly followed by gunshots.

"We need to hide." Sheeta declared, pushing Ichigo and Mint into her closet while she went to hide under her bed. However, it was too late: a man in a mask came in and started throwing her around her room. After a few minutes, he stabbed her to death—twenty-eight times.

Ichigo bit her hand to keep quiet and would've been ok if Mint hadn't screamed in horror. Of course, she couldn't blame her.

When the masked killer heard Mint, he yanked open the closet door and snatched Ichigo out by her arm, pulling it out of the socket.

The man started throwing Ichigo all over as he had done with Sheeta; he was about to begin stabbing her when he realized Mint had gone to a different room and called the cops.

The man once again grabbed Ichigo by her arm and started dragging her around the mansion, using her as bait to lure Mint out.

The moment he found Mint, he held Ichigo in front of him, using her as a shield. However, he didn't realize that the police had arrived a few minutes before. They shot him in the back.

Unfortunately, the two shots were through and through, and the masked man got away before they could arrest him.

Still, before Ichigo was taken to the hospital, she gave a detailed description of a tattoo the man had on his neck.

After a few days in the hospital, a government agent came to warn the families of the danger they were in. He explained that the man who killed Sheeta and her family was part of an insanely dangerous gang—with members worldwide.

Because of the circumstances, they would have to be placed in witness protection with other families who have had run-ins with other gang members. The witness protection program was the first thing he strongly recommended.

Both families were shocked; they couldn't believe that this one man could be that dangerous. Sure, he was dangerous; they knew that. But for them to have to go into witness protection… They just couldn't believe it.

Ichigo and Mint were the only ones to know just how dangerous this man was. However, none of them knew anything about the others.

After they all (Sakura, Shintaro, Jen, and Koji) discussed it among themselves; they agreed it was in the best interest of their families to comply with this government official and go into the program.

They were transferred into Akio Tokawa's division and were told what would happen.

Rini had a meltdown. It took her over a week to calm down.

The stories were:

Ichigo and Mint, after being attacked and watching their friend and her family killed, lost it and committed suicide.

Four days later, Ami was reading a book while walking to the library to study when she was hit by a truck. Neither she nor the driver was paying attention.

A week and a half later, Rini, Sakura, and Shintaro were killed in a fire.

Jen and Koji went missing—mysteriously disappeared. Everyone figured they were dead because they found two pools of blood and a few severed body parts. The blood and body parts were found three weeks after the fire that claimed Rini, Sakura, and Shintaro, so who really knows when they went missing?

End Flashback:

They were the first to arrive at the new place, and Ichigo couldn't help but think how much it reminded her of Sheeta's home.

Soon after they arrived, the rest of the families started showing up.

Keiichiro, Ryou, & Masaya:

Keiichiro, Ryou, and Masaya are a unique family: they are brothers, but none are biologically related.

When Ryou was about five or six, his parents adopted Masaya when they found him on the streets begging for food. They later found out that he was left on a fire station's steps in the middle of the night when he was just a baby. He had been in several different homes before finally running away.

Keiichiro came to them to assist Ryou's father when he was about fourteen as an orphan. He wasn't there for pity or anything—just a job and maybe a meal at night. He never expected them to adopt him a year later.

Keiichiro is twenty with long brown hair tied into a ponytail and pale blue eyes.

Ryou is sixteen with short blonde hair and cerulean blue eyes.

Masaya is sixteen with short black hair and brown eyes.

Ryou, Keiichiro, Masaya, and their parents split their time living in Japan and America.

Their father was a majorly successful archeologist in both Japan and America. As a successful archeologist, he was very good at digging things up—and because of that, a formidable gang came to him and demanded that he help them dig something up.

When he declined, the gang threatened his family. For the most part, that did not end well for the gang, as many tried and failed. Between him, Ryou, Keiichiro, and Masaya, they were able to keep everyone safe.

Although they're not your typical family, they get along—or don't get along like any other family. They defend one another, and they fight as ordinary brothers do.

Ryou and Masaya: they argue a lot—almost every day. Mainly about stupid shit—especially about girls they date. Half the time, they don't like the girls the other one dates.

Keiichiro is the calm and reasonable one; he tries to get along with everybody. Unfortunately, sometimes that just doesn't work:

Masaya feels that Keiichiro's always taking Ryou's side, and Ryou believes the opposite.

One day, while the professor and his wife were out, Ryou and Masaya fought because they were both dumped by their girlfriends. Eventually, they dragged Keiichiro into it because he walked into the room at the wrong time; he lost it and snapped at them.

Flashback:

"What did you do this time?!" Ryou yelled at Masaya when they got home.

"Me? What do you mean me? What did you do? Carrie broke up with me because of you!" Masaya yelled.

"Oh, really? I guess then we're even; Sasha broke up with me because of you and your slut of a girlfriend!" Ryou yelled.

"Carrie wasn't a slut! Not like Sasha, who sleeps with every guy she sees! Oh, look! Keiichiro's here! I know he usually takes your side, but for once, I bet he'll side with me!" Masaya yelled.

"Like hell he sides with me; he usually sides with you!" Ryou yelled as they glared at each other.

The fighting continued for what seemed like hours when in reality, it was only five minutes before Keiichiro intervened.

"That's enough, now! I only take sides when needed; you both know that! Now, when it comes to girls, I try to stay out of it because I want you two to be happy! However, when it comes to Carrie and Sasha: they were both major hoe-bag, cum guzzling sluts! I'm surprised either of you don't have some sort of STD for crying out loud! You two have horrible tastes in women! When will you guys find a nice girl who ACTUALLY cares for you and not just sex! Sex isn't everything!" Keiichiro yelled, exasperated.

"Geez Keii, relax. I didn't know you felt that way about who we dated." Ryou responded, shocked at Keiichiro's outburst.

"Yeah, calm down. Who knew you cared so much about us?" Masaya questioned, just as shocked as Ryou.

"Of course, I care; you guys are my brothers—blood or not. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go lay down and relax—as you said." Keiichiro insisted before going to his room.

"Oh, you got some dirty magazines in there?" Ryou mischievously teased Keiichiro.

"I bet he does—he says not everything is about sex, but even needs release." Masaya agreed with a devious grin.

"Jeez, guys! Knock it off! You know I'm going to take a nap." Keiichiro snapped, turning red, thinking about how they knew about his secret.

A few weeks later, everything changed when one of the gang's leaders blew up the house in America with their parents still inside the house. This was only two days before they were supposed to go to their home in Tokyo.

There was nothing left of the house, the family dog, or their parents. They wanted to do a proper funeral, but that never happened, as they knew the gang would be lurking around to make sure they were all dead. So, they just caught a plane to Japan the following morning.

They landed in Kyoto first—and they were met by a government official—the same one who met with Kurogane, Kish, Sayuri, and their grandparents. He saw what happened on the news—after the FBI contacted them and let them know Keiichiro, Ryou, and Masaya boarded a plane to Kyoto.

Because of the gang and how their home in America was destroyed, Ryou, Keiichiro, and Masaya had to go into witness protection. No ifs and's or buts, they were told.

At first, they were sent to Nashi Goronatsu. However, she couldn't handle another case and passed them on to Akio Tokawa, seeing as he already had several families dealing with the same issue.

Akio informed them that instead of going to their home in Tokyo, they'd be moving to Kakushi-mura Himawari no Tani. He also mentioned they'd be living with other families dealing with the same organization—which broke off into gangs.

End Flashback:

Another family was already there when they arrived. Others soon followed suit.

Pie, Tart, Taiya, Maya, & Berry:

Pie, Tart, Berry, Maya, and Taiya were a somewhat typical blended family: Mom, Dad, two sons, and three adopted daughters.

Well, that's how it used to be:

A few years ago, the parents became severely ill and passed away.

Pie was seventeen and could take responsibility and custody of his younger siblings.

Pie is the oldest sibling at twenty, with gray-purple hair and dull indigo eyes. He rarely shows emotion, except when it comes to his siblings. His father left when he found his wife cheating on him with Tart's father; he also blamed Pie for not informing him.

Tart is the youngest sibling at fourteen, with light brown hair and orange eyes. He is very hyper and was diagnosed with ADHD at seven. Technically, he's not allowed to have sugar or sweets; however, he usually gets away with it. He is six years younger than Pie and has the same mother but not the same father.

Berry is the youngest daughter at fifteen, with long blonde hair and dark brown, almost red eyes. She was the first to be adopted when she was six. Pie and Tart's parents adopted her after being told she couldn't have any more children.

At that time, Pie would've been eleven, and Tart would've been five.

Their parents adopted Maya and Taiya when they were nine and ten—two years after Berry. Initially, they only wanted Maya, but she and Taiya were a packaged deal. If they wouldn't take both, they couldn't have one.

Maya is the middle daughter at sixteen, adopted when she was eight; she has long dark navy-blue hair and deep blue eyes.

Taiya is the oldest daughter at seventeen, adopted when she was ten; she has black and red hair and indigo eyes.

At the time, Pie was thirteen, Tart was seven, and Berry was eight.

Their parents loved all children equally. Although, at first, Pie and Tart wondered because their mother kept saying how much she wanted a girl. Still, they understood that their parents indeed loved them all equally.

However, as they became teenagers, Taiya and Maya started pissing Pie, Berry, and Tart off—and they still haven't gotten any better.

Until now, they lived on Hokkaido island in Japan. But due to everything that happened, they are being relocated to Kakushi-mura Himawari no Tani with others in the same position.

Their parents had gotten into some trouble—mainly because Pie's father was irrationally furious when his wife cheated on him with Tart's father. Because of that anger, he joined the gang that is putting so many into witness protection.

As it was discovered, Pie's father was poisoning their parents. And after they were gone—a long while after they were gone—he'd start poisoning the kids.

Sure, be angry that your wife cheated on you. But get a divorce and sue her or something. Don't kill her, her new husband, or the kids.

Flashback:

A short time before they had to go into witness protection, there was a knock on their door; Pie answered.

"Officer Kai? What brings you by?" Pie questioned, watching the cop at his door.

"Yes, is there somewhere private we could talk?" Officer Kai earnestly inquired, looking at Pie.

"Yeah, anywhere works; Taiya, Maya, Berry, and Tart are out for the next hour or two." Pie answered, leading the officer to the living room.

"So, what's going on?" Pie asked again as they sat down.

"This is about your father." Officer Kai stoically answered.

"What about Deep Blue?" Pie questioned, slightly angry that he was being brought up after all these years.

"Do you remember when your mother and stepfather died a few years ago due to unknown causes?" Officer Kai inquired.

"Yes. You said it was due to something with their jobs. What about it now?" Pie demanded, his anger rising.

"Well, we found more victims like that all over town. We took a deeper look into your parents' deaths and found out that they had been poisoned. Not only that, but we apprehended Deep Blue. After a few hours of interrogation, we got him to admit to everything. He then admitted that you and your siblings are next. We didn't want to tell you about any of this originally because we know how you can get. But then, out of nowhere he mysteriously disappeared. So, in the end, someone had to tell you the truth. And since I worked on your parents' case; I figured it should be me." Officer Kai explained, watching Pie, who was dark red in the face with anger by now.

"What does that mean for us?" Pie inquired, trying to calm down. But nothing seemed to work or even just help.

"Well, for your siblings' safety—and of course, yours as well, we believe it best for you all to go into witness protection. It is what's best for you guys." Officer Kai answered, watching Pie, thinking he wouldn't agree to witness protection. But instead that he would want to go out, find, and kill Deep Blue.

Officer Kai couldn't blame him—but he also couldn't let him do such a thing for safety—and legal reasons.

"Fine, we'll go into witness protection, but I don't know how well they'll like it. Well, Tart might; he likes adventures and stuff like this. Berry, on the other hand, I think will hate it; she's pretty popular from what she says. And as for Taiya and Maya—I'm not sure. Maya doesn't care for change, but she doesn't seem to have a lot of friends. Actually, I think Taiya is her only friend. Same for Maya being Taiya's only friends. But if they'd ease up on people… Never mind. I don't know how any of them will feel." Pie replied, rolling his eyes while explaining about his sisters.

"Right. Well, you have fun with that. I have to go, but I'll be back within a few days. When we put you into the program, you will all go with Akio Tokawa; he will explain all the rules and such." Officer replied before leaving as the other three came in.

As expected, Tart thought this was the coolest thing ever; he didn't have any friends, so it didn't matter to him.

Berry threw a major fit; she was leaving all her friends—even though she only had two and wasn't all that popular.

Taiya was excited; she hated living on the island.

Maya—well, she was conflicted.

End Flashback:

So here they were, in front of the new house—Berry complaining the entire time.

Haruka, Makoto, Fai, Minako, Usagi, Rei & Hotaru:

Haruka and her younger sister Makoto.

Fai and his younger twin sisters, Usagi and Minako.

Rei and her younger sister, Hotaru.

They all lived in a small area in downtown Tokyo.

However, they were all relocated to Kakushi-mura Himawari no Tani when they entered witness protection.

Haruka is nineteen with short, choppy, sandy brown hair and green eyes; she was a professional racecar driver and very into sports.

Makoto is sixteen with long brown hair down to her upper back, tied up in a ponytail, and dark green eyes; she was trying to figure out who she was.

Fai is nineteen with short, messy blonde hair and blue eyes; he likes to do magic and is an all-around goofball.

Usagi and Minako are sixteen-year-old identical twins.

Usagi has long blonde hair tied up in pigtails with buns that reach her ankles and blue eyes. She loves sleeping, reading manga, and eating.

Minako has long blond hair down to her lower back with a big red bow and blue eyes. She loves playing volleyball, acting, and dancing.

Rei is sixteen with long black hair down to her lower back with a purple tine and purple eyes; she is a priestess and an aspiring singer.

Hotaru is twelve with shoulder-length black hair with a purple tint and purple eyes; she has no clue who she is or wants to be.

While hanging out one day—getting ready for a race or talent show, there was a shooting.

None of them knew what was happening as they hid in an old, abandoned shed.

No one was hurt, but Haruka's race was canceled.

The talent show would go on—until a bombing destroyed the community center the show was supposed to be held.

Nobody had any clue what was going on—or why it was even happening in the first place.

The police were damn determined to figure it all out—it only took them an entire month.

Haruka, Makoto, and Minako were attacked while playing volleyball. At the same time, Usagi, Rei, and Hotaru were shopping.

They were all rushed to a hospital as soon as they escaped from the madmen who attacked them.

Haruka and Makoto had their arms slashed up pretty decently and had to have stitches:

Sixty-four for Makoto

Eighty-one for Haruka.

Minako got away with twenty stitches as she only got a cut across her cheek and arm; she also fell and busted open her knee.

Rei avoided getting injured, while Usagi got a broken finger from it being slammed in a door.

Hotaru was shot in the wrist—shattering the bone.

Fai was called to the hospital to pick them up.

Flashback:

"What the hell was going on?" Haruka demanded, pissed off.

"Why were we attacked like that? Why were we the only ones attacked like that. There were hundreds of other people. I mean, I'm happy no one else was targeted and hurt. But why?" Usagi frantically questioned.

"That is weird." Rei and Fai agreed, watching three officers in front of them.

"And why are there only three of you? And why are we here?" Makoto questioned, watching the officers.

"Where is here?" Hotaru inquired, looking around.

Minako just sat there, staring at the officers with narrowed eyes, trying to intimidate them.

"You are an inquisitive bunch. To answer your questions: were are at a secret location. And it will stay a secret location for your safety. With everything that has happened to you in the last month, we are placing you all in witness protection—like it or not. It's not safe for any of you to be living out there with these gangs out there. There are dozens upon dozens of gangs all over—in several different countries, including Japan. They are all part of one, single, beyond dangerous organization. You will remain here until healed enough to travel. Then you will be transferred to Kyoto, where you will meet Akio Tokawa. He is in charge of transferring you all to the safe house with several other families who are also fleeing and hiding from said group. Haruka and Makoto: you two are in this position because your father left a rival mob shortly after Haruka was born. Because your father's whereabouts are unknown, you two have become their targets." One of the officers explained.

"Fai, Minako, and Usagi: your parents owed the mob and this organization money for an undetermined reason. Because of that—and your parents being deceased; you three are in danger. Hotaru and Rei: you two are being targeted because you are your parent's daughters. It is unknow what they did, but your parents pissed the organization off." The second officer spoke.

"We do not know anything about the witness program you're entering, so please don't ask. When you are transferred to Akio, he will give you all the information you will need. You will learn about your new roommates when you meet them." The third officer bluntly explained before walking away.

End Flashback:

And that was that. And here they were—in witness protection—along with everyone else.

Mamoru, Mizuki, Seiya, Taiki & Yaten:

You want an unconventional family?

Well, here you go…

Mamoru is twenty, but Mizuki, Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten are all eighteen—and are all brothers. Well, half-brothers. They have the same father but different mothers.

Mamoru and Seiya were the only ones with the same mother.

Their parents were involved in polygamy—something the boys just couldn't get into. So, as soon as they could leave, they did.

However, the brothers still lived together as they didn't have enough funds to live independently, pay bills, and buy food. Plus, Mizuki, Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten all still had one year of school left.

Mamoru has short black hair and blue eyes; he aspires to be a doctor one day.

Seiya has long black hair down to his mid-back, tied up in a ponytail, and blue eyes, and is part of a boy band with Taiki and Yaten.

Taiki has long brown down to his mid-back, tied up in a ponytail, and purple eyes, and is part of a boy band with Seiya and Yaten.

Yaten has long silver down to his mid-back, tied up in a ponytail, and green eyes, and is part of a boy band with Taiki and Seiya.

Mizuki has shoulder-length dark silver hair and light blue eyes and aspires to be a priest. Or if that doesn't pan out, he wants to be an architect.

Before we go any further, it should be mentioned that Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten are transgender. They transitioned from female to male when they were thirteen. That was one thing they were grateful for their crazy hippy parents for. They made it possible for them to get everything needed, including the surgeries.

One day while Seiya, Taiki, and Yaten were rehearsing for some Battle of the Bands—and forcing Mamoru and Mizuki to be their devoted audience, they were attacked by who they thought was just the paparazzi or insane fans. However, three days later, when they discovered their manager dead, they were dead wrong.

As it would turn out, their mothers were once with several organization members trying to kill everyone. They were the leader's and his second-in-command's women.

Three years before Mamoru was born, their father convinced their mothers to leave the organization and start a new life with him.

After all that, they were forced into witness protection, where they would meet with Akio and be transferred to Kakushi-mura Himawari no Tani, where they would meet everyone else.

Mamoru was annoyed, but at the same time, he understood. This was to keep them safe.

Mizuki was thrilled; he hated living in the heart of Tokyo. He wanted a new smaller, and quieter environment.

Taiki was thrilled about it; he loved learning new things and figured this would be the best opportunity.

Seiya and Yaten, on the other hand, were not happy at all:

Yaten didn't want to move, period.

Seiya didn't want to give up his fans.

But like everyone else, they gave in. They went into the program with the promise of getting back to normal, everyday life once everything was figured out.

So, here they were, looking behind them at what looked like mountains and sunflowers surrounding them.

Rose, Michiru & Zakuro, & Pepper, Setsuna, Lettuce & Tasuku:

Michiru and Zakuro are sisters, who lived in Paris, three doors down from their best friends, Setsuna, Lettuce, and Tasuku, before being relocated back to Japan. But they were moving to Kakushi-mura Himawari no Tani, Japan—a place they had never heard of before.

Michiru is nineteen with wavy, teal-colored hair down, a little past her shoulders, and blue eyes; she was a professional painter/violinist.

Zakuro is seventeen with long violet hair down to her mid-back and light blue eyes; she was a professional model/singer.

Setsuna is nineteen with long, dark green hair that reaches her knees with a bun and red eyes; she was an up-and-coming scientist.

Tasuku is sixteen with short gray hair and gray eyes; he was a high school student who liked rollerblading.

Lettuce is fifteen with green hair and light blue eyes; she was a high school student who liked to sew, bake, and read.

Setsuna, Tasuku, and Lettuce are siblings with divorced parents who were business moguls: Pepper and Dashi. Despite their mother not caring too much about them, she has custody, and they aren't allowed to see their father, who does care.

Michiru and Zakuro's mother, Rose, was also a business mogul who didn't care too much about being a mother. Their father died when they were young from a heart attack; he was a cheating workaholic as well. He was never home; he was usually at work or with some other woman.

One day, while they were out shopping—much to Tasuku's dismay—they heard a loud boom come from behind them.

They found that the building their parents and dozens upon dozens worked in had been bombed. There were only four survivors—all lower-paid interns on the bottom floor.

Rose and Pepper were supposed to be there that day. However, they had to stay home because they both had severe food poisoning from bad sushi purchased from a gas station; they needed food and fast. Boy, were they suffering the consequences? They were pissed: work is the most important thing to them.

Anyway, when the four survivors came running out, the group witnessed four people in black—three men and one woman—shoot them dead in an overkill execution kind of fashion.

The group didn't know what to do; they stood there, shocked, until the shooters noticed them. They immediately charged and started shooting at them.

Not even five seconds after the people dressed in black saw them, Setsuna, Michiru, and Zakuro started pushing Lettuce and Tasuku to run.

They all made it to the nearest police station—not unharmed:

Lettuce was shot in her right arm and shoulder.

Tasuku was shot in his left arm and shoulder.

Michiru's right leg and left cheek were grazed.

Zakuro's legs, right shoulder, and just under her left ear were grazed.

Setsuna was the only one to have a knife launched into her left arm.

They were rushed to a hospital as soon as they knew it was safe; the bullets and knife missed all major organs and bones. They were wrapped up and sent home after statements were taken.

All five received hell from their mothers because they no longer had blemish-free skin. How could they possibly be seen in public with them anymore? Rose and Pepper proceeded to ground them until their hideous marks were gone.

Two days later, FBI agents who work worldwide came to talk to the families and told them that they would effective immediately be placed in witness protection and sent to Japan somewhere. Pepper and Rose immediately threw a temper tantrum, sounding and acting like little children. All because they just made leads in their departments. Well, it sucks to be them.

Setsuna, Michiru, Zakuro, Tasuku, and Lettuce agreed to go into protection almost right away. Rose and Pepper took hours to get them to agree begrudgingly—defeated.

Roughly two weeks later, they arrived at the new house.

Some people were already there; the rest of the families arrived shortly after they did.

Lettuce and Tasuku were a little apprehensive.

Zakuro was annoyed; they didn't sleep very well on the bumpy plane ride.

Michiru and Setsuna were indifferent; they liked a new challenge and scenery. And the view around them was breathtaking.

Rose and Pepper—well, you can only imagine how they feel.

Fuyuki, Hikaru & Pudding, & Touya, Akira, & Natsu:

Fuyuki, Hikaru, and Pudding are orphaned siblings who lived on the streets of China before being placed in witness protection.

Fuyuki is seventeen with short light brown hair and orangish eyes.

Hikaru is fourteen with short orange hair and brown eyes.

Pudding is twelve with shoulder-length blonde hair tied in four low-hanging braids and orangish-brown eyes.

The rest of their younger siblings had been adopted; not many wanted teenagers. For Fuyuki, Hikaru, and Pudding—whatever happened to them—whether they got adopted or not, it didn't matter. What mattered to them was their younger siblings were safe and that the three of them still had each other.

After their siblings were all adopted, the orphanage owners started being especially nasty to Fuyuki, Pudding, and Hikaru, so they got what they could carry and ran away.

Of course, being only sixteen, thirteen, and eleven at the time, they couldn't get too far and ended up living in an alley in a large box they had found.

Fuyuki was working at a wealthy family's home to earn money so they could at least have a home and be able to eat.

The family Fuyuki worked for had three sons: Touya, Akira, and Natsu. Their mother died of an unknown illness years ago, and their father was never home.

Touya is twenty with messy nape-length pale orange hair and gray eyes.

Akira is seventeen with short dark orange hair and gray eyes.

Natsu is fourteen with shoulder-length orange hair and gray eyes.

Shortly after Fuyuki started working for the family, he and Touya began dating. And while he, Hikaru, and Pudding weren't allowed to spend the night, they were allowed to have dinner there every night.

Hikaru and Natsu get along extraordinarily well and are best friends who hang out whenever possible.

Pudding tries to hang out with everyone, but Akira is an entitled ass, and Hikaru and Natsu don't really want to hang out with the younger sister. Fuyuki has to concentrate on work, and Touya tries, but he doesn't know how to handle her energy.

The only reason Fuyuki, Hikaru, and Pudding are in witness protection is because of something Hikaru and their parents witnessed when he was eight—a drug bust gone wrong. Their parents were killed a month later.

With Touya, Akira, and Natsu: it was found out their dad made a deal with one of the gangs to get rid of them. Their mother was the true heir to their fortune until she died. Their father expected to gain all the power after her death. NOPE. If anything happened to her, Touya was next in line. Then Akira. And finally, Natsu. If anything happened to any of them, the family fortune went to charities.

Another reason they were targeted was that Akira ran his mouth around town about how he could easily take down that gang. And then he shot his mouth off to one of the gang members.

One night, while Fuyuki, Hikaru, and Pudding were trying to sleep, a man grabbed them and tried to take them to who knows where and put an end to them. However, Touya, Akira, and Natsu ran by, stopping anything from happening. Though they were running from some assassin sent to their place to kill them. They ran after their house was lit ablaze.

Touya demanded that the three of them come with him and his brothers. They ran.

They ran until they got to a pier. There, the six of them looked at each other before jumping into the ocean. They stayed under the water and used straws Natsu brought for air for ten to fifteen minutes before resurfacing. When they got back to shore, Touya stole a decent-sized rowboat, and they left China. They would live wherever they landed.

After a day and a half, they were picked up by a ship. They were then taken to Japan and the police there. They were separated and interrogated by a few different officers. After hearing their story, the police sent Touya, Fuyuki, Akira, Hikaru, Natsu, and Pudding to Kyoto, where they once again gave their statements to a government official.

The government official was going to send them to who knows where when Akio Tokawa stepped in and took over. This was, of course, after he explained what was going on.

Akio explained to the six that they would be placed under his care in the witness protection program and that they would be relocated to Kakushi-mura Himawari no Tani. He also explained that they would be living in one large building with many others in the same situation.

Pudding broke down, crying when they told her she'd be living in a building, in a room with her own bed, and that she'd get to eat more than once a day, every day.

They stood there in front of the building—well, Pudding was bouncing from foot to foot; she, Hikaru, and Natsu were extremely excited at how many people they would be living with. However, they were more eager to live in a home instead of a box in an alleyway.

Akira was annoyed at how many people there were, but his attention was focused on Taiya—and her him.

Touya and Fuyuki were relieved that they weren't lied to and that they weren't the only ones in their situation.
