Episode 36: Introducing Richard Monroe Brown
CHAPTER 1: ON HIGH ALERT!
"Any idea why she would be stalking you, sergeant?"
The police were interviewing Charlie about Peggy Jean's sudden appearance at his house and her watching him. It wasn't until he talked to Linus when Linus revealed he thought he saw her outside of the Bronze Beagle on Christmas Day during the reception of Franklin and Eudora's wedding that he felt she was stalking him.
"Well, a lifetime ago, we were boyfriend and girlfriend when we were kids," Charlie told the lead officer. "We became an item at camp where I met her. Maybe the following year we reunited and she said she was with her boyfriend, so she had broken my heart. I never talked to her again after that. Why she would seek me out now is anyone's guess. My best friend thought he saw her at my friend's bar over Christmas, where we were for a private wedding reception."
"Well, my men and I will keep an eye out for this Peggy Jean," said the officer. "If you see her again anywhere, don't hesitate to call. From what your friend Marcie described, she seemed out of it, so confronting her is definitely ill-advised."
"I totally get it, officer," assured Charlie. "And I'll be careful."
And after gathering more information, the police left the Brown residence. Pat and Sally were worried about what Peggy Jean may have been planning.
"First Violet, then Schroeder, now this nut!" groaned Sally. "Is there something in the water in Sparkyville that makes people insane?! If so, why haven't we gone crazy yet?!"
"There's nothing in the water, Sally," assured Charlie. "But I feel that Peggy Jean may be trying to see if I will take her back after all this time."
"She should know we're together," said an angry Pat. "Plus we just had a kid, for Christ's sake!"
"Speaking of, don't fret about this, babe," said Charlie to his fiancée. "Let's just focus on getting this introduction party planned so everyone can meet Little Richie."
"You're right, Chuck," said Pat. "The cops have this under control, plus you're trained in combat, so we don't have anything to worry about."
"Exactly," Charlie replied. "Same goes for you, Sally. Just lead your life as usual."
"I'll try," assured Sally. Then the folks heard a baby cry over a monitor.
"Well, Little Richie is hungry," said Pat, getting up. "Time to feed him." And she went to go feed her baby son, and Charlie got ready to leave for the recruitment center.
Somewhere in Downtown Sparkyville, a disheveled Peggy Jean was walking the streets, holding an old picture of her and Charlie from when they were kids. Snoopy was also in the picture between the two of them. She wanted to see if she could get back together with Charlie after she broke his heart. But seeing him with Pat made that impossible, especially now that they had a kid. The more she thought about it, the more upset she got. She made her way to a rough part of town in a ramshackle apartment complex. She entered her apartment, which was an extremely small efficiency apartment. She sat down on her bed and looked at the photo and fumed. Her "Brownie Charles" had someone else and he was happy. She was determined to get him back at any cost.
"Brownie Charles will be mine all again!" she said with her squeaky, mouse-like voice. The girl had never matured over the years, either. "I'll get her from that poopy-head!"
