"Y/n Uchiha the Hokage would like to see you."
A light sting came to my eye's. The last time this happened was when my bother Obito had died years ago and now I've lost the only person I had left. Grandma... She was a loving woman even though I was only her adopted grandchild, she never treated me any different than Obito. I cared for the woman deeply and would miss her more than anything. I lowered my head to the ground and nodded to the silver haired man and slowly followed him to the Hokage's mansion. He kept looking back at me impatiently but I couldn't make my legs move any faster, they felt like jelly and were becoming heavier with each step. He never said a word though allowing me to keep up at my own pace. Once we reached the Hokage's office door the man pushed it open and stood aside waiting for me to enter. Once I walked in he let the door close behind me leaving the Hokage Sarutobi and me alone. The Hokage cleared his throat and looked at me grimly. He looked like he was getting older by the day. He had to be what in his seventies by now. Hiruzen took back over after the 4th Kage, Minato Namikaze died in the nine tails massacre. He looked tired and run down, I could see the toll the position was putting on him and if my guess was right he maybe had another five years or so before retiring again. I waited for him to speak unsure if I even could at the moment. First I was parched beyond belief and to be honest starving too. Not to mention dead tired but the complete shock right I was in right now was over shadowing all of that. I didn't know what to think of everything that was happening at the moment.
"Y/n Uchiha. It's been awhile I didn't realize you were already do back. I'm sure from what you felt at..."
He paused for a moment before looking me directly in the eye.
"The uhm. Compound. There's been an incident..."
He trailed off again. I was starting to grow impatient and frustrated. We both knew what state the compound was in right now. What I wanted to know was how and why.
"Hokage sir with all due respect I've been gone for six months and I come home to well... nothing. Please tell me what's going on. I need to know what happened. I'm extremely confused sir."
He looks at me before sighing. This was something the man did often in my presence.
"Itachi Uchiha. He.. well he went rouge. He's been acting strange for awhile now. I was expecting him to come in for a mission but he never showed and next thing I know my Anub is informing me that Itachi has massacred the whole Uchiha compound."
He stopped than. Waiting for my reaction . Hell I was waiting for me to react. But nothing happened like always. Was I pissed fuck yeah but I didn't know Itachi or Sasuke Uchiha only that they were bothers and we were some how related but it was distant. Grandma didn't really interact with them much and always seemed to keep to herself never harming a soul...so why? Why her? What had she done to Itachi to cause him to minder an innocent old woman. I could murder Itachi without a second thought. But that was only on the surface. Deep down I felt practically nothing for the guy. Revenge was a waste of energy really. This empty feeling had developed after years of missions and death it almost seemed like a normal way of life anymore. When I didn't respond he sighed while watching me. More like staring into my soul waiting for something to stir. But there was nothing there anymore whatever part of me that held emotions was long dead by now. Both of my parents died a year or so after I was born and that's when Obito's grandma adopted me. He was eight at the time and welcomed me with open arms but I never truly felt that sibling bond with him. But I did care for him none the less. No one really knew who my parents were so I couldn't really inquire after info of who the two mysterious beings were. Sure grandma had been a wonderful guardian but she just wasn't the parental figure I needed growing up, with caused me to rely on the Hokage too much and gave him a grip over my life that I couldn't escape from. The Hokage cleared his throat drawing me out of my head. He didn't say anything for a bit and neither did I after a silent stare down he than shook his head in defeat.
"Y/n would you please stand outside my office for a moment I need to speak with one of my Anub. Please don't go anywhere."
I bowed to him and walked towards the door once I had it opened Sarutobi called out a name.
"Kakashi please step in here for a moment would you. Make sure to close the door."
The same man that escorted me from the compound to the mansion walk in and close the door. I sighed while leaning against the wall. Nothing could be heard from inside the Hokage's office so I decided e to stare out the window beside me hoping to find some type of distraction outside. A some house lights were still on and a few people could be seen here and there leaving the bar for the night. It was now close to twelve so all the bars would be closing soon making Konoha look like a ghost town. I pressed my head against the glass enjoying its cold flat surface on your forehead. After about twenty minutes I was starting to become bored and anxious all this standing around and uncertainty of what was going to happen to me next was causing me to be on edge. I opened my eyes after awhile and noticed that almost all the lights except street lamps were out now. As my gaze scanned the view something dawned on me where the hell was I going to sleep tonight? There's was no way I was going back to the compound. And all my money was at grandma's house what was I going to do...I turned from the window and slid down the wall leaning my head on to it in defeat. I couldn't help but feel lost. I had no home nothing to go back too. There was no way I could take anything from grandmas it would feel...wrong for some reason. So no clothes no house no food no bed no nothing. I sighed realizing the situation I was in. How long were they going to talk for. We're they going to have me interrogated to see if I knew anything about Itachi? Not that it mattered it'd be a very short interview since I literally knew nothing about him. Or maybe they thought I had a hand in it. Which was also impossible since I couldn't even picture what the face of the guy looked like. I groaned internally your patience practically shattered at this point the only reason you were being patient is because you were dead tired and starving. Sigh when is this going to end.
*********Kakashi's POV*********
I stood with my back against the wall beside the door. I was hoping to get released from duty soon. It was late and I was tired and ready for a shower. After about fifteen minutes or so I heard the door open and my name being called. I straightened up and walked in giving a quick glance to the white haired girl as she passed me on the way out, she kept her eye's down and walked right past me. I closed the door behind me and faced the Hokage.
"Hokage-sama. You wanted to see me sir?"
He gave me an unreadable look which slightly threw me off it wasn't like him to seem so troubled. He sighed and pushed a piece of paper towards me. I walked forward and reached for it.
Hokage Sarutobi, here by appoints Hatake Kakashi to be Uchiha y/n's mentor until further notice. This includes helping training her with her Sharingan. And to achieve Jonin status for as long as it shall take. This contract will stay open until She is considered properly trained and is capable of handling herself properly during missions and battles. She will also accompany Hatake Kakashi in is personal unit in the black ops forces until further notice there after.
Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen
I stared at the paper in disbelief. He was pushing the Uchiha girl on him! Hell no who knows how emotional she's going to get and she was what like ten years old at must there was no way I was getting stuck with this. The Anub would not like it and babysitting little kids really wasn't my thing."
"But Hokage I don't have time to train her. I have missions in the Black ops. And I'm not to sure how'd they feel with her tailing us everywhere we go. I'm sorry sir but I must decline."
I watched as the Hokage smiled slightly. Sure he was he one who told the Black ops what to do but even he understood just how much they were willing to put up with. He sat up straighter in is chair and leaned over on the table with his elbows supporting him.
"Kakashi how much do you know about y/n?"
"Not much if anything I've only seen her like once or twice. She's like what ten maybe? She'll be a huge weight on me on my missions. I'm not even sure what kind of techniques she has or what exactly her jutsu even is."
I pleaded with him hoping he would cave I really didn't have time for this nonsense and I was just far too busy.
"I'm sorry Kakashi but I just can't let you out of it. But I'll ease your worries with these words. She is no normal Shinobi. Her skills are impeccable and her efficiency is unmatched. She has a ninety eight percent success rate. She usually takes on long distance missions. And actually had just returned when you fetched her. And besides you're an acceptable Jonin and could use an underling. Plus I already told the Black ops you were going to taking a few moths off and already filed all the paperwork. Seems you had a... few vacation days left."
He winked at me than stopped speaking. I just stood there in shock unsure of what to even say I couldn't disobey my Hokage but on the other hand what were the Blacks ops going to think of this he was a vital part of their team and needed him for his skills and guidance and now he was being grounded with a little girl to babysit who just lost her whole clan! Oh my god I think I'm actually going to have a heart attack. Before I could spiral down any lower the Hokage spoke again.
"Let me give you a short summary on the girl. She's fourteen only three years younger than you. She doesn't know how to control her Sharingan very well and could really use some guidance... I..I've taken advantage of her and she has suffered for it. She's not social and has absolutely no friends and now.. no family either. She's a huge asset to our village and we will need her skills in the future. But with that being said she reckless and when I say that I mean with herself. She doesn't hesitate to put herself right in the middle of the fight and doesn't really care what happens to her. She almost died a few years ago. She went off on her own and tried to complete the mission on her own even though six men were needed for the job. She didn't even care about it when she came home from the hospital. I can't just have her throw her life away like that."
He ended the last word a little angrily. Before turning in his chair to face the window. He sighed and put his hand under his chin in thought.
"I can't have her throwing her life away so easily. I'm partially responsible for her...and the situation she's in. You have no idea and frankly I don't feel like diving down that large sink hole at the moment. So I ask you will you please mentor her Hatake."
I looked down for a moment. And slapped myself mentally for what I was about to say. I looked at him and nodded.
"Yes sir. I'll mentor her until she's capable of being on her own responsibly."
I bent down signed the contract and handed it back to him. Smacking myself again. I looked up at him and he smiled back at me.
"Good now if I'm not mistaken y/n has an old relatives house in her name somewhere in town I'll have the address and keys soon I've already requested it. There's no way she can go back and sleep in... that place. Once it arrives I'll call y/n back in and chat with her a bit. Than have you escort her home if you don't mind. Than you are free to leave you should talk with her on the way there about when her training will start. I'll let you explain everything I'm rather tired honestly and would like to finally go to bed after such a long night."
Just as he spoke the door opened and some one handed the Hokage a envelope, bowed than left. He handed me the address and smiled again.
"Thank you Kakashi. Now send y/n so I may speak with her."
I nodded and turned around and pushed the door open. I looked to my left and could see y/n sitting on the ground reading a book. She looked up at me with groggy tired eyes hmm... can she even walk home? I held my hand out to her and she just stared at it. Than got up with out my help. She grabbed her bag and walked in the office again. After a few minutes she came out. And just stood beside me. I lifted an eyebrow and she spoke.
"The Hokage said you were going to show me to my house.."
"Did he say anything else?" I asked.
She shook her head no and looked down. I sighed and started to walk to the address on the paper. She never kept pace which was fine. I was always a few steps ahead of her and she refused to walk any other way. If I slowed down so did she so I just walked at a comfy slow pace. Although walking like this made it hard to get a good look at her. I needed to figure out how to get her Sharingan under control and hone a few of her skills hopefully she was a fast learner so I could go back to my normal life. The only thing that indicated she was still following me was the fact I could her almost silent foot steps. We walked for about twenty minutes and than arrived at a pretty large house. It was pretty secluded and quite a walk to town. I stopped and rubbed the back of my head felling a little awkward since I really wasn't sure what to say.
"Thank you." She said bowing and starting to walk away from me.
I panicked. Shit she can't leave we still needed to talk. I cleared my throat making her stop I really wasn't sure where to start and I was dead tired and I was pretty sure she was too.
"Right so uhm... We have some things we need to talk about. The Hokage gave us a missionnn.. and yeah its just really late. I'm tired and I know you are to so we'll meet up tomorrow and talk about it cool? How about we meet at training ground eight at about nine. You know where that is?"
I couldn't find a good way to tell her I just wanted to go home. She nodded her head yes and hummed at me. She continued to walk forwards and pull out a key going inside. I sighed shook my head what have I gotten in too.
