I rolled over in my bed groaning the sun stinging my eye. I got up and closed the curtain tighter, than stumbled to the bathroom jumping in the shower hoping it'd wake me up I sat there letting the hot water soak into my skin. The feeling felt foreign anymore. Once I was done I wrapped a towel around my waist and wiped the dew from the mirror and my eye automatically went to the scar on my left side. It was pretty deep and showed up better than any of my other scar's. I touched it feeling the rough raised skin. She had left it there. It was a parting gift he chuckled darkly. It had been almost two years since his fight with Y/n. She disappeared that night. He went to her house the next day but she wasn't there. And that pattern continued every time he went back. It crushed him. He didn't mean anything he said to her he wanted to apologize, and surrender himself to her mercy. He was angry and took it out on Y/n. Her bloodied and cut up face would still creep into his mind from time to time along with the last word's she parted with. ' I think it's about time I get out of your way.' Her words haunted him. He missed her badly very badly. The first few month's the Hokage had to give him time off because he just couldn't function, every time he thought about her it felt like he was going to have a heart attack. Even now it still hurt. He couldn't move on with out her. After Y/n left he had a lot of time to think..to much time. And after hours of sleepless night's he realized he was in love with the her. He hadn't realized how much she had taken hold of his life till she was gone leaving him violated and empty. Sure his other 'friends' tried to make him feel better but it only seemed to make him feel worse. And what was more worse than anything else was when he woke up the morning after their fight to banging on his door. When he opened it the only thing he saw was a fist coming straight for his nose. It connected and he fell on his ass with a grunt. Turned out the fist was Kurenai's. Y/n had went to her house but didn't tell her anything. Only that she needed healed. But I guess she recognized my blade pattern from the cuts in her skin and than put two in two together. "How could you Kakashi! She was your fucking friend! Your BEST friend. She was fucking shattered...she had so many bruises and broken bone's. She wouldn't' even speak to me. She just said she had a mission and left..." He remembered breaking down on her and explaining everything. She had been super pissed at him for awhile but eventually she let it go. In the end no one actually knew where she went when he asked the Hokage all he said was 'that's classified information'. He hated the Third Hokage with every fiber of his being. It was like he enjoyed secretly bringing them together than tearing them apart. Something he unfortunately succeeded in he thought sadly. But things weren't all bad. Hiruzen died and a new Hokage had stepped in, her name was lady Tsunade and she was doing an awesome job from what he could tell. He finished getting ready than headed out to test another Genin team. He walked to the training grounds and heard loud bickering as he arrived. He watched as a pink haired girl was holding back a blonde spiky headed boy who was trying to attack a black haired boy. He facepalmed this was going to be a long day. "Yo? What's going on here?"
"Thank goodness sensei Naruto won't quit trying to attack Sasuke-kun." The young girl cried to him. Alright so he knew the two boy's names now at least. He watched as the boy's separated. And looked down at the floor.
"Alright than. Well let's get this over with. So I'm Kakashi. You can call me Kakashi sensei. Now tell me your names and something about you."
He folded his arms over his chest waiting for them to begin. Naruto was the first to speak, well more like yell.
"I'M NARUTO UZUMAKI AND I'M GOING TO BE THE NEXT HOKAGE!" He shouted in my ear. "That's a pretty tall order you know."
He nodded. "Yeah and I'm gonna do it! You better believe me!" He grinned ear to ear. The pink haired girl spoke next.
"I'm Sakura Harune. And I like medical ninjutsu." She bowed than stepped back. I laid my eye on the last one waiting for him to speak, I knew a little about him he was some how related to Y/n, but he never opened his mouth which irritated me and apparently just as stubborn as her too. "And you are." He huffed at me. "I'm Sasuke. And this is dumb." I rolled my eye.
"Alright I'm going to give you a bell test." He held up a small silver bell than strapped it to his belt loop. He than explained the rules like alway's. Once he said start Naruto was the first to attack. He avoided it easily but was a tad amused at his enthusiasm. He was pretty easily defeated though and there was the other two genin who had disappeared. He decided to pull out his book and read. Today was already a huge drag and these kids were already making so many mistakes.
I found Sakura and decided to use my Sharingan and used an image of Sasuke to defeat her. Than it was time to find Sasuke. Now I was a bit impressed he was waiting for me and threw a fireball. I had to close my book to deflect his attack he put up a good fight but lost in the end.
"Well look's like you failed guys. Maybe if you had used some team work instead of running off on your own you would've passed."
I waved bye and turned around, but something had grabbed hold of my arm.
"Kakashi sensei please gives us another chance!" Naruto screamed in my ear than Sakura joined in and they all started begging for a second chance. I sighed.
"Fine. But there's a condition." They all stopped and started really listening to me. "We'll go again after lunch. But Naruto you can't eat."
Naruto's face fell. "What? But that's not fair!" He wined while the other two snickered behind him. I looked at him lazily.
"Those are the conditions. Take it or leave it." He reluctantly agreed. So I left. Well I made them think I left, I was actually in a near by tree watching them. Sakura and Sasuke pulled out there lunches and began to eat while Naruto was tied to a post staring them both down while drooling. I sighed than pulled out my book. Than Sasuke spoke making me look back to them. They were both feeding Naruto some of their lunch. "If you don't keep your strength up we'll fail again." The black haired boy said while stuffing food in his mouth. I smiled and than put on a serious face while jumping down to them. They all screamed getting caught red handed. I walked up and bore my gaze down on them.
"I told you guy's he wasn't allowed to eat lunch." I bent down and started to bring my hand towards Naruto's head. They all closed their eye's waiting for me to punish them. I patted his spiky hair and he looked up confused. I gave him a smile and nodded.
"Now that's team work. Good job guys you pass." They all stared up at me confused. "Alright well. Since you passed I'll let Lady Tsunade know. Than we'll start training sound good?" Naruto's eyes grew big and he screamed for joy. Sasuke told him to keep it down and they all started fight again. I sighed and walked away. I headed towards the Hokage building when Guy stood in front of me. "KAKASHI FIGHT ME!" He yelled. My head started pounding from all the loud screaming I had endured today. "Not now Guy I'm busy." He started to say something when a flash of white hair caught my eye behind him I froze and watched as the hair turned a corner. Sure there's more than one person with white hair in Konoha. But every time one passed by me I had to make sure it wasn't her. "Sorry Guy gotta go." I said completely distracted. I ran to the end of the street where I had seen the white figure and turned the corner. The streets were particularly crowded around this time of day and I couldn't see anything with all the people walking around, so I decided to climb to the roof of the nearest building. But by the time I got there the white haired figure was gone. I sighed laying on the roof. It wasn't like it was her anyways...it was never her. It'd been two damn years and I still couldn't stop trying to chase her. Guy came running up beside me and threw his shadow on top of me.
"KAKASHI! You can't just walk away in the middle of a duel like that." He kept yammering on and all I could do was tune him out not interested in his duel.
***3rd Pov Next Day***
Kurenai was in town shopping for a new dress. Her and Asuma had a date tonight and she had a bit of extra cash after her last mission. The Anbu had become really dull after Y/n left. It wasn't the same without her so she decided to quit, it wasn't really for her anymore anyways. She'd been thinking about her white haired friend a lot here lately though. It'd been so long since she'd seen her. Every time she thought of her though all she could see was how broken down and beaten Y/n had been when she came to her house in the middle of the night. She had been crying and was a hiccuping mess. She wouldn't say a word to her other than she had a mission the next day. Kurenai sighed. If she had known the mission was going to be over two years she would of pushed her to talk more. Although Kakashi explained everything, he couldn't explain how it effected Y/n. Although she didn't like admitting it Kakashi was the young girls whole life. They had been inseparable since the day Kurenai had meet her. Even though they said they weren't together back than she could see the two becoming a couple they complimented each other too well. But now...when Y/n did come back if she ever came back she wasn't sure what would happen. A dress in a window caught her attention, she walked up to the glass inspecting it.
"That's a pretty dress you going on a date with Asuma?" A slightly familiar voice asked her. "Yes I am. But I'm not sure I like this shade of red. Wait how did you know I was going on a date with Asuma. I didn't..."
Her breath caught in her throat as she turned around to ask the mystery person how they knew about her date. But that mystery person was someone she hadn't seen in a long time. She was taller now about 5'5 and her white hair was longer now reaching past her shoulders. Her round faced had thinned out a bit. But her eye's were the same. And there on the right side of her mouth was a small scar lining her lip from top to bottom.
"Y/N!" Kurenai screamed. Crushing the blushing girl into a hug. She didn't let go for some time crying into her shoulder. Y/n pulled her into a tight embrace happy to feel her friends warmth again. She started to separate once Kurenai stopped sobbing but the red eyed woman wouldn't let go and held her hands beaming with happiness at her.
"It's been so long! Oh my god you've grown especially in the assets department." She smirked at her eyeing Y/n's chest. Y/n blushed a bit embarrassed. "When did you get back? What happened to you? Are you doing okay? Where have you been?" The white head girl stuck her hand over Kurenai's mouth overwhelmed with her questions.
"Wait. Wait. Wait. Hold on girl one question at a time." She laughed. Than took a deep breathing preparing to answer.
"Okay... I just got back yesterday. I had a mission..it was longggg to say the least. I'm actually fine and super excited to be back actually. I can't wait to catch up with you guy's! And unfortunately I can't answer the last one it's classified..."
Y/n finished ticking each answer off on her fingers. "Was that all of them?" She giggled. Kurenai smiled again hugging her once more and than snaked her arm around her friend dragging her with her. "Why didn't you come see me as soon as you got back huh?" She asked a bit hurt.
"Sorry. I got back super late and my bed was calling me." She said rubbing the back of her head. "Girl you don't gotta tell me. I'm so happy your back Guy and Asuma are going to go crazy! They'll want to throw a party and there's nothing you can do to get out of it."
Kurenai smiled threateningly. Y/n shivered and wondered how a gesture meant to be kind was so scary right now. "Yeah. Yeah. I'll go to your stupid party."
She smiled even bigger but it dropped quickly and than she looked at Y/n who was calmly walking beside her. She stopped them for a moment. Wanting to ask a question but not sure how to bring it up. The smell of ramen hit her and she looked at Y/n who had also smelt it and was practically drooling.
"How long has it been since you've had real food?" "A long, long, long time." She said practically starving. Kurenai pulled them into the ramen shop and they ordered. They'd been chatting for a minute now and the black haired woman just couldn't find a good way to bring up her impending question. Their food came and Y/n dug in straight away. She couldn't help but chuckle at her friend. It'd been way to long since they've done this. But that only made her question nag at her mind more so she decided to just finally spit it out.
"So...uhm...have you...you know talked to Kakashi?" Y/n's body tensed instantly and she stopped eating. Kurenai watched as her shoulders dropped and she looked her with an unreadable expression than shook her head no. Kurenai really didn't blame her. He beat the absolute crap out of Y/n...she knew it was because he was upset and mad..but that wasn't an excuse. And for all she knew Y/n would never forgive him. The silence and tension was so think Kurenai could cut it with a knife. "Can I ask what happened between you two?" Y/n kept her eye's on her ramen but her hand unconsciously went to her lip. She didn't want to share what happened. It was two people realizing they weren't a good mix. It was hurtful truths that made her realize that trusting someone too much was stupid and she would never let herself be hurt like that again. "Too be honest I don't actually remember. It's been a long time and a lot has happened since than." She half lied. A lot had happened between than and now but she just wanted to focus on the now.
"I'd rather not dwell on it anyways. Me and Kakashi aren't friends and that's fine. We both made our choices. But I'd like to put that behind me and focus on the future you know?"
Kurenai nodded. It was silent for a short moment before Y/n spoke. "So how have thing's with Asuma been?" And with that question the previous one was forgotten as her friend began discussing her relationship. After a few more hours they separated going their own ways.
Y/n was exhausted. She'd forgotten what it was like to be in the city and socialize with others. But a smile came to her lips hearing all the hustle and bustle while remembering yesterdays events. Lady Tsunade took Y/n by surprise they had met a few times before while Y/n was training under Jiraiya. She never expected her to be the new Hokage when she returned. Tsunade ordered her to take time off but she didn't want time off she wanted action. Although Tsunade agreed for her to stay in the Anbu she said Y/n wouldn't be receiving missions any time soon but she'd keep her eye's open for her. She debriefed her on the two year long mission. But Tsunade wasn't too sure what to think about it and said they'd discuss it later. She was now sneaking to her house making sure she didn't bum in to you know who. It pained her to walk near his house, especially since her feet still knew the way, but she didn't want to see him EVER again. He was an old part of her past and Y/n wanted to keep it that way. Even if it meant walking around town invisible if she had too. Once Y/n was safely home she made sure to shut all the blinds and curtain's, and made sure every door and window was locked. The extra precautions were necessary to keep...the unwanted people out. She sighed even if she could avoid him while she was home there was no way she could forever...they had the same friends...if he still had friends. Plus she was still really mad at him...they were supposed to be friends but instead she had been a burden something to occupy his time with than throw away when he got bored. It crushed her more than anything in her life ever had. And not only that he had scarred her face making sure she'd never forget him. Her hand touched her lip feeling the ragged edges. Y/n shook her head than grabbed her cigarettes. She only had three left...damn it.. her smoking habit was pretty bad now but she had been through a lot in the last couple of years. She unlocked the door than peaked out. Watching the roof. For some fucking reason everyone wanted to break into her house from the roof. It was all clear though. So she leaned against the wall and puffed on her cigarette. She lived pretty far from the middle of town so it was actually quite peaceful. The birds sang from time to time and the breeze felt good. After she was finished she went inside and made dinner eating in silence. After she was done Y/n washed the dishes and smoked one more time before taking a shower. Sure she showered yesterday and did absolutely nothing but sleep today but the thought of hot running water sent tingles down her spine it had been forever since she had been able to take warm showers and she wanted to relish it. She stayed in for way to long and came out a bit light headed, it was worth it though, Y/n changed into her Pj's and passed out immediately.
***TIME SKIP NEXT DAY 3RD POV***
Kakashi was exhausted he'd only been training team 7 for a few days but it was almost pointless. All the whole team did was fight and bicker. He was at his wits end. He had his hands shoved into his pockets and was in a fowl mood. He passed by Asuma who stopped him.
"Hey Kakashi what's up man? You look a bit stressed?" Kurenai was with him and she smacked his arm than gave him an odd look. Kakashi thought that was a little strange but couples were weird. Asuma waved at her as he put his arm around Kakashi's shoulders and dragged him in back in the direction he had just come from but he was too uninterested to care where Asuma was taking him.
"Sooo... like I was saying what's up man?" Kakashi shrugged not wanting to speak up about the problems with his team. The last thing he needed was for people to think he couldn't handle three simple Genin. "Hey it's fine were friends. You can tell me. Maybe I can help. Are you maybe thinking about Y..."
Kakashi stopped walking making Asuma pause. Why was it when he was in a bad mood everyone always thought it was because on Y/n.
"No Asuma it's not that. I'm having trouble with my team. They constantly fight and I don't know what to do. I've only been teaching them for a few days now."
Kakashi thought it better just to tell him instead of him asking stupid questions. Asuma laughed than threw his arm back around his shoulder changing their direction once again. "Is that all? Hell I had problems when I first started everyone does. Why don't you ask the Hokage for a little help? I would give you a hand but I'm super busy right now. But it's pretty dead around here I'm sure there's some free shinobi somewhere." He said smiling at him than he dropped his arm.
"Well I better get going Kurenai's probably mad I just ditched her. But think about what I said. See ya Kakashi."
He waved at him while walking away. Kakashi thought about it for a little while before finally deciding to take Asuma's advice. He had been a teacher longer than him plus he felt better knowing other teachers had these problems too. He was now in front of the Hokage's door knocking on it. He heard her say come in. As he shut the door he noticed piles of paperwork and files scattered everywhere. She was on the floor going through one of those said piles and hadn't really noticed him. When she did look up she was a tad surprised.
"Oh Kakashi. What brings you here?" She asked getting up from the floor and sitting in her chair waiting for him to speak. He cleared his throat still a bit aggravated about having to ask for help.
"Well I may be having a bit of trouble with my team." After he spoke her expression turned serious. "Is it Naruto? Is he giving you trouble? I know you just took them on"
He rubbed the back of his head now feeling embarrassed for what he was about to say.
"It's not just him...it's all of them. They constantly fight. I can't turn my back for a second without him and Sasuke at each other's throat. And than Sakura jumps in and beats up Naruto.."
He prattled on before stopping. "I think I may need just a little help." She released a breath than smiled. "Of course! You're new to teaching right? It's normal to have a few problems when you first start. I'd be happy to find a helping hand for you. I'll send you help next week is that alright?"
He relaxed happy that this was a common issue. "Yeah that's fine. Thank you"
"Of course Kakashi. Come to me any time you need help. If you see Shizune will you please tell her I need her."
He nodded than left. He bumped into Shizune down stairs and gave her Tsunade's message to which she hurriedly thanked him and ran off. His walk home was peaceful therefor making it dull. He sighed as his back hit the couch pulling out his book.
"You can't avoid him forever you know?" Asuma said to Y/n who was sitting on Kurenai's couch. She ignored him although that was becoming hard to do. He'd been drilling her with questions for an hour now and she had enough.
"Thank you AGAIN for the advice Asuma." He sighed. Sure he was happy Y/n was back. But she apparently had no intentions of making up with Kakashi, in fact she thought she could avoid him. Even if she was able to be invisible there was no way she could avoid him forever. What Kakashi did to her was wrong with all due respect. But he was hurt at the time and so was she. They both said stupid shit obviously and really needed to get over it. He wasn't sure how Y/n was coping with what happed but Kakashi was dealing with it badly. He watched as the man pretty much broke down and than reappeared a hollow shell. He ignored everyone more than ever now and was so uninterested in everything he stopped hanging out with them pretty much all together. Asuma didn't agree with the fight but he did think they both needed to at least talk or something.
"I'm just saying kiddo. You don't have to forgive him but you should at least talk. Kurenai's throwing you a welcome home party this weekend and I'm going to invite Kakashi. Will he come? I doubt it but I'm inviting him all the same. You two at least need to be civil when in the same room."
Y/n rolled her eye's than stood up walking towards the door but Kurenai stopped her.
"Please don't leave Y/n. You just got here." She begged. Y/n looked at her than Asuma. "I know you don't like what he's saying but it's true. And if anything happens we'll all be here to back you up. Alright? I don't like the fact you're sneaking home just to avoid him that's no way to live and you know it."
She couldn't help but feel guilty now. Even though she didn't have a reason too. And as much as she hated to admit it they were both right. The sneaking around was getting old and starting to make her a bit paranoid. But the thought of being near him made her panic her breathing started to increase and she started shaking, even after all these years she still couldn't get rid of the panic attacks...in fact they were worse than ever now. Kurenai saw what was happening and hugged her.
"We'll be right here Y/n. You deserve to walk your hot body all over Konoha without having to worry about avoiding that jerk." She rubbed Y/n's back helping her calm down. Once her breath was steady they separated. Y/n kept her gaze to the floor trying to gather the courage to speak.
"Okay... as long as you swear you'll be there." Kurenai pulled her in for another hug than made her sit on the couch.
"Okay now that we're all emotional let's eat. ". She smiled making everyone laugh. Y/n pushed the impending doom count down to the back of her mind and tried to enjoy her friends company. Leaving the stress for later when she got home and would regret agreeing to the unwanted encounter.
