***NEXT DAY KAKASHI'S POV***

I woke up feeling better than I had in two years. But the feeling was instantly replaced with panic when I realized Y/n was no longer on the couch beside me. I sat up and looked around my living room, last night wasn't a dream was it? He remembered it with full clarity and knew there was no way he could imagine him and Y/n cuddling on the couch last night. He spotted breakfast on the kitchen table. It was still steaming she couldn't have gotten far. But her voice sounded from outside his door pulling his attention to it.

"Guy I told you Kakashi's asleep. Challenge him later okay?" She sounded a bit irritated. "Than you challenge me Y/n!"

He shouted back. I heard her sigh and couldn't help but laugh. "How about this. I'll duel you in cards at Kurenai's tonight. Sound good? I think I'm beating you 30 to 28 right?" Guy gasped. I wish I could see his face. "Your right Y/n! I will leave and train harder for our match tonight! Stay youthful my friend!" I heard the doorknob turn and in walked the beautiful maiden that had enveloped my thoughts for so long. She looked a bit tired but that wasn't the first thing I noticed. She'd put her old clothes back on but left her mask down. I pouted slightly she looked so good in my shirt and I wanted her to wear it forever. She noticed I was awake and gave me a breath taking smile. I couldn't help but blush. She'd turned me into a big marshmallow and we weren't even together yet. I wanted to tell her how I felt but it was too soon and I knew it.

"Hey Kakashi I hope Guy didn't wake you he was being stupid. Does he always show up to your house this early?" She sat on the couch opposite of me looking irritated. I laughed which made her smile. God her smile was beautiful. I couldn't help myself as I pulled her in a hug and rested my head on her's. She tensed at first than relaxed in to me returning it. Her scent was intoxicating. Y/n always smelled like pine and earth. I loved it.

"Yeah he's annoying huh?" I said on top of her head she giggled than separated us getting up and walking into the kitchen. I couldn't help but pout about how short the exchange was.

"Come on I made breakfast and it's getting cold." I got up and sat in a chair while she walked to the sink and started washing dishes. After I was finished and cleaned up my mess I went to my room and walked to the dresser. The shirt she'd worn the night before was sitting neatly folded on top of it. I looked at it for a moment before deciding to put it on. Her smell penetrated the fabric pretty strongly and a smile came to his lips. He ran to brush his teeth and hair than found Y/n sitting on the couch lazily reading one of his books. He couldn't stop the blush from coming to his face or the thoughts that came with it. Her presence in his house just felt natural like she belonged there. He never wanted her to leave it felt empty with her gone. And he was still a bit scarred that if he let her go she'd disappear again. He made his way to the couch and picked up her leg's sitting them in his lap while he too pulled out a book. They stayed that way for awhile in silence just enjoying each other's company.

"You're going to Kurenai's tonight right?" I looked up to see her blue orb's peeking at me from her book. Damn it she was so fucking cute! It took me a second to regain my composure before answering. "Are you?" She nodded. "Than I guess I am too." Her cheeks adorned a light pink before she smiled looking back to her book. After a few minutes I put my book down and rested my hands on her legs they were smooth and soft with a scar here and there. She didn't look up from the book more than likely engrossed in the plot. He watched her facial expressions for awhile smiling at her when she'd make a funny one or seemed confused. His thumb caressed her while he was lost in thought mesmerized by the gorgeous girl beside him. She closed her book breaking his thoughts. He glanced at her a bit confused. She smiled at him than started to move her leg's when he stopped her.

"Where do you think you're going?" I asked not willing to let her leave yet. She wiggled her leg's trying to free herself. "I need a cigarette Kakashiiii."

Y/n whined. I sighed but let her go. "Why don't we go for a walk or something?" She nodded putting on her shoes and grabbing her bag. She waited patiently by the door for me to follow her lead which I gladly did. Y/ n walked out first and already had a cigarette lit by the time I shut the door. We walked side by side in the streets of Konoha for awhile not really going in any particular direction. Some how we ended up at her house.

***3RD POV***

"Mind if I shower?" Y/n asked Kakashi not wanting to make him feel uncomfortable. "No you're not allowed to shower in your own home. Stay dirty."

He snicker. She rolled her eyes. "Okay well I'm going to shower and get ready for tonight. If your hungry there's food in the fridge. Help yourself."
Y/n said before disappearing down stairs. Kakashi looked around her house. It hadn't changed at all. In fact it looked a bit dull. He wasn't insulting her house he actually loved it here. It was big and had an awesome kitchen and backyard. Although the yard was pretty bare he knew Y/n didn't have time to tend to a garden although with the way she loved nature he bet she would actually like it. If they ever did get together he wondered who's house they'd stay at. He liked his little apartment. But this one belonged to her. She didn't have to pay rent. Yeah he'd live here. He practically did before she left anyways he was still pretty sure he had some clothes in her room. Kakashi sat on the couch reading his book wondering if he should shower too. After twenty minutes Y/n reappeared upstairs with a towel wrapped around her head. It was white too and almost matched with her hair Kakashi smiled at seeing how red her skin was from the hot water.

"You know you don't have to burn your skin off to feel clean." He laughed. She sat beside him and swatted his arm. "You have no idea how long I had to wait to take a hot shower I will never take advantage of it again." She took the towel out her hair and began rubbing it gently. Her hair looked like fluffy cotton and he wanted to touch it so bad...but he restrained himself by scooting away from her a bit. Y/n noticed and was wondering why he was distancing himself. Did she still smell bad? She brought her hair to her nose and inhaled but it smelt nice. Kakashi watched her and wondered what she was doing while also wishing he could smell too. She leaned her head closer to him and the wet strands dripped on his hand. He looked at her confused. "Does it smell okay?" He started to blush slightly wondering if she could read his mind. "Well?" Y/n asked again. He moved closer and sniffed her wet locks. A minty smell hit his nose. God it was perfect. Kakashi had always hated the girls who smelled like flowers and perfume. As far as he knew Y/n didn't wear perfume or makeup she didn't have time for that nonsense. Come to think of it Kakashi couldn't think of a single time he'd seen Y/n actually dress up. She wasn't girly at all. Not even a little bit. She was more like one of the guys and always had been. It made her attractive being able to stand on her own. She wasn't a damsel in distress she was the knight that saved her. And damn it made her even sexier. He leaned away blushing.

"Y..yeah. It's good. I like mint." She straightened back up than smiled at him while continuing to dry her hair. "Okay good. Because you backed away when I sat down and I thought maybe it was because you didn't like the way I smelled."

He shook his head she was perceptive as always. She could read him like a book. He was actually surprised Y/n hadn't figured out he liked her yet...but maybe with her having no experience in that department she wouldn't even know what to look for... for all he knew she just thought they were really good friends and this was normal friendly behavior. Y/n watched Kakashi as he seemed to be in some type of turmoil. She didn't know what was wrong but it was getting late and they would need to leave soon. "Uhm...do you wanna take a shower I still have some of your clothes in my top drawer if you want."

Her voiced pulled Kakashi from his sadden state. He looked at her for a minute than nodded walking down the stairs. He reminded himself to calm down. There was no need to feel hopeless yet. He hadn't even expressed his feelings for her so no need to think she'll reject him right away. He walked to her door and opened it. Her scent flooded his mind. It was like a Y/n over load. Her room hadn't changed at all either. It was pretty big and had a huge bed. Books were stacked every where along with star charts and maps. He smiled she's such a nerd. And if he was lucky she'd be his nerd soon enough. He walked to the bathroom and stripped his clothes. It was still pretty steamy from her shower and that's when it hit him that he was about to stand naked in the shower she had just stood naked in. His whole face burned red and he had to leave the bathroom for a minute to clear his head. Okay Kakashi now you're just being ridiculous. He smacked his cheeks than walked back into the bathroom turning on the shower. He set his head band on the counter which knocked a pill bottle into the sink. Kakashi picked it up confused. Once he read the name he realized it was anxiety pills. He set them back on the counter and sighed looking into the mirror. He knew she had anxiety but now it was so bad she had to take med's for it he hoped it wasn't because of him. He took a quick shower and wrapped a towel around his waist stepping into her room and goosebumps instantly covered his body. It was pretty cold on the bottom floor. All the better for him, she'll want to snuggle all the time he deviously thought. He dressed than headed back upstairs. Y/n wasn't on the couch anymore so he headed to the kitchen and noticed the balcony door open. Kakashi peeked his head out and watched Y/n puff out smoke her eyes fixed on the sky and her expression was unreadable. He smiled, she was completely lost in her own mind. That was something they had in common although he did it way more than her. He walked to the chair beside her and sat down she jumped a bit than turned to smile at him.

"Hey. I hope you had hot water." He nodded. "I did." "Good. So are you ready to go than." He internally groaned. Kakashi wanted to be selfish for just a little longer not wanting to share her with anyone else. But he knew she wanted to go so he nodded.

And here they were awkwardly sitting on Kurenai's couch while her and Guy gushed over the newly reunited pair. Y/n couldn't stop blushing and threatened to blacken Guy's eye if he didn't shut up about it. Kakashi just ignored everyone and kept reading his book. Y/n was better at getting people to listen to her anyways. But he did wonder how'd they would all react if the two started dating. Of course that made him blush and he wished he could just pick Y/n up and leave. Go back to her house and read. But after Y/n's threat the two excited shinobi let it go and Guy started a round of cards. Kakashi had no interest Y/n always won. He swore she cheated every time but she would just say it wasn't her fault she was smarter than him with a smirk. Eh she was probably right. Just when he started to get into his book. Asuma came into the room and handed Kakashi a beer. He refused. Now was not the time to drink he needed to stay aware and alert around Y/n in case he did something he would regret later. Asuma lifted a brow at him and Kakashi shrugged. He chuckled than sat next to him smacking his leg in the process. It was bit irritating but easy to ignore. "Why don't you wanna beer?" Kakashi sighed. "Look we just fixed things. The last thing I want to do is fuck it up with alcohol." Asuma just laughed and smacked his leg again irritating him more. He stood and motioned for the silver haired shinobi to follow him. Kakashi sighed but followed anyways. They went to the back porch. Asuma lit a cigarette and leaned on the railing. He didn't speak and Kakashi wonder why he even followed him in the first place.

"Have you told her yet?" He asked stopping Kakashi in his tracks. "What?" "Have you told Y/n how you feel yet? I can see it man by the way you look at her. How you talk her. Does she know?"

Kakashi's face burned brighter than it ever had before hearing Asuma's words who in return laughed loudly at him.

"I'll take that as a no." He smirked. "Dude you don't know that I love her." "Who said anything about loving her?" He cocked a brow. "I only asked if you told her you feelings." Asuma finished triumphantly. He knew Kakashi liked his friend but hearing the word love actually surprised him. "I...I...well you see it's not like I could ever...but she just. Man i don't know". He held a laugh while watching his confused comrade. The guy was great in a fight and shit at his feelings. Ha like Y/n Asuma thought. "It okay you know. You guys are great together to be honest I expected for you two to be dating by now. Of course the fight so I get that. But what's stopping you now? I know you can't be just satisfied with friendship." His questions made Kakashi feel more defeated. "How man...we just fixed things and well I treated her really shitty. I'm pretty sure she doesn't want someone like me."

Asuma laughed again which was really starting to piss off Kakashi. "What's so funny I don't understand why you keep laughing." Asuma responded by smacking his back.

"Man open your eye's she's into you and apparently you love her. I knew you liked her but I didn't know you loved her. All more the reason to share those feelings."

Before Kakashi could answer Y/n walked out with a cigarette in her mouth muttering about something than she looked up and noticed the two men standing around. She raised her brow wondering what was going on. Kakashi instantly blushed. What if she'd heard something. Or she could feel that something was off. Y/n was good at that shit. She noticed every damn thing and loved asking questions. Asuma chuckled to himself than put out his cigarette.

"Alright I'm done see you guys back inside." He waved walking off. Y/n lit her cigarette than walked up to Kakashi watching him with a scrutinizing glare. He'd been acting weird all day and she didn't know why. Was it because of her? Surly he would let her know if she was doing something wrong right?

"Kakashi are you mad at me?" He looked at her surprised. Of all things, why did she think he was mad at her?

"What no why would you think that?" She shrugged while taking a drag oh her cigarette. "I don't know you've been acting off all day. To be honest I wasn't sure if it was because of something I did." Y/n finished than looked down. If she had done something to upset him she wanted to know so she could fix it. Kakashi walked up to her and patted her head causing her to blush lightly.

"I am not mad at you. I promise I just got a lot on my mind is all." He stated smiling at her cute reaction to his petting. "Do you...wanna talk about it."

She looked into his grey eye pleading with him to share. Maybe she cold help or maybe talking about it would make him feel better. He almost broke down and spilled everything he couldn't stand hiding from her. But he held his guns and motioned for her to give him a second to think. She waited anxiously for his reply. But all he did was pull them into a hug which surprised her. It only took a second for Y/n to respond wrapping her arms around his waist. He still didn't speak for a little while but Y/n didn't mind. His embrace was warm scaring off the cold breeze that was starting to blow.

"I do want to talk about it." She started to get excited. "But.. I'm not ready yet...will you please be patient... and let me sort it out first." He needed her to understand he would eventual share his feelings with her just not yet. He need just a little bit more time. And maybe during that time he could get her to like him at least. She pulled away from the hug watching his face. "Promise." She said holding up her pinky. Kakashi stifle the laugh. He always thought their pinky promises were cute. "Promise." He said wrapping is little finger around hers smiling. She walked behind him and put her hands on his back pushing him inside. "Come on wall flower let's go." She giggle pushing him back to their friends reluctantly.

***TIME SKIP 3 WEEKS LATER 3RD POV***

Kakashi was pacing back and forth on the training field. Ignoring the kids complaints. Y/n went a on mission a week ago and was supposed to be back yesterday. He didn't want to panic too hard.. missions sometimes ran over he understood that. But the irrational side of him wanted to go out and find her. They kids were missing her too. "When's Y/n sensei coming back?" Sauske asked. "Yeah I miss her. I wanted to show her my clone." Naruto chimed in.

"No she's teaching me how to control my Sharingan first." Sasuke said pushing Naruto out of the way. "What no way she's supposed to help with my clones I was in line first." Naruto replied sticking out his tongue. Sasuke punched him and than the two boys were fighting Kakashi sighed again if Y/n was here she'd shut them up and make them get along. Kakashi walked up to them pulling the boys apart. "Alright guys we can settle this just calm down." But the boys kept arguing.
Ignoring everything he said. Damn this was starting to become a long day.

"Y/n wait up! Not all of us can run as sat as you ya know?" Kurenai yelled to the white haired figure who was once again running too far ahead of the group. She knew it was because Y/n was impatient to see Kakashi again. "Come on you guys are so slow I'm barely breaking a sweat."

The blue eyed shinobi called to her friend. If it had been up to Y/n they would've run all night she was used to skipping out on sleep but everyone else wasn't, so they had to stop and rest. Than again to eat. And yet again rest. They were supposed to be back yesterday. She missed Kakashi it had been the first time in weeks since they had been separated this long and good god did it have a bad effect on her. There mission was easy all they had to do was gather some info on a group of rouge ninja. But it didn't turn out that way and they ended up killing them after it was all said and done. Which delayed them. She wasn't happy about it. A meteor was supposed to be flying within her telescopes reach tonight and her and Kakashi were supposed to watch it. She needed to document the event too. And now she was running late they were still half a days run to Konoha. She was starting to get desperate. They all knew the way. The mission was completed why did she need to slow down on the way back. Normally Y/n was patient with these things but the idea of missing out on the meteor with Kakashi was starting to make her depressed. Kurenai watched as Y/n groaned but slowed down a bit so she could reach her.

"What's the rush girly? Are you gonna be late for a hot date or something." Kurenai watched as Y/n smiled lightly. "I mean it's not really a date. Me and Kakashi are supposed to watch a meteor tonight. I just really don't want to miss it." The white headed girl sighed. Kurenai smiled wanting to pry her friend for more details.

"Oh really? Wellll... do you want it to be a date?" Y/n almost lost her footing and fell. Her face was red. Kurenai smiled jackpot. She thought it was about time the love birds actually became love birds. She was excited by the idea of double date's and doing fun couple activities together even if the guy's didn't want too.

"Hmm that blush is a strong indicator that you do want it to be a date." Y/n put her hand over Kurenai's lips begging her too be quite.

"Okay. Yes I wish it was a date. But don't announce it to everyone. Don't need someone hearing and decide to tell Kakashi before I grow the nerve to do it myself."

She whispered to the black haired woman. Kurenai giggled. "Do you think he'll feel the same way when I tell him?" Y/n asked the question had been on her mind for awhile now. She knew Kakashi acted differently with her. He didn't just run around hugging everyone or spend the night at their house he only did that stuff with her...but he never once voiced any feelings for her. Yeah they both knew they were friends but she didn't know if there would ever be a status change in their relationship.

"I do." Her friend replied. Y/n gave her a look that said go on. "I'm not good with this stuff Kurenai help me out." The red eyed woman sighed.

"How much do you know about well liking someone?" Y/n scoffed. "Look I'm no Kakashi but I have read the Icha Icha books. I do know thing's but real life's different...ya know." She trailed off feeling embarrassed for her lack of experience. Kurenai giggled again. "Okay how about I tell you what I've observed between you two. Will that help?" Y/n nodded eagerly. She wondered how her friend saw them together.

"Okay first. This has been happening since you started the Anbu. Kakashi is always beside you. When we travel he's beside you. When we break he's beside you. When you come over to my house he sit's beside you. He enjoys your company obviously. Do you see him do that with anyone else?"

The white haired shinobi thought about it for a second than shook her head no. "I suppose I have noticed that." She hummed. "Right see if you've noticed he's not very talkative with any of us but he is with you. And only you. He like's your conversation." She smiled at Y/n because she was blushing now. It was cute seeing her like that.

"Okay I'm going to go a bit faster now. He hate's socializing but will go anywhere as long as your there. Than you two can sit in silence together for the longest time just reading. I sure as hell can't do that with Asuma." She laughed.

"And than he cooks you dinner. You guys spend the night at each other's house! Sure you spend the night with me I'm a girl but he's a guy." She paused making sure Y/n understood what she was saying.

"Doll friends don't normally do that. I know neither of you have done anything with each other. But hun that's fucking sweet." She smiled a bit jealous of how gentleman like he was with her. "Most guys would try to take advantage of you. But hasn't and never will."

She stopped on a tree limb after an epiphany hit her. Y/n had to back track. Worried about her friend now. Kurenai gave her a big smile and hugged her friend. Confusing poor Y/n more..what the hell is happening right now she wondered. Kurenai let her go but held her hands.

"Y/n this is serious are you listening to me." Kurenai's eyes widened with excitement. Y/n nodded slowly still totally lost.

"Girl he loves you!" She squealed happily. Y/n ripped her hands from her loud friends covering her mouth in return trying to shut her up.

"Damn girl ssshhhh. I told you don't go announcing shit pleaseeee..." Kurenai apologized but it didn't dampen her spirits. They started jumping again a little faster now.

"I'm not lying Y/n he loves you hun. I knew he liked you but after piecing it all together there's no way that man isn't in love with you."

Y/n didn't respond. Her mind was on overdrive about to melt at the thought of Kakashi loving her. Her heart felt like it was going to burst and she was feeling a bit dizzy. "Do you love him?" She turned to her red eyed friend unsure of how to answer. Did she love him. Yes she did have feelings for him. But love.. what did love feel like? Kurenai watched the white headed girl deep in thought. They ran through the trees for a while in silence.

"What does it feel like to be in love?" Y/n asked. She was trying to figure out if she loved him but she didn't know what love felt like. She watched Kurenai's face look forward with a tender smile on her lips.

"It's like when you have everything you want and that person comes in as the cherry on top. Like Asuma. My life was pretty good before he came along. But when he showed up I just couldn't imagine my life with anyone else." She smiled bigger knowing Asuma was the one and she hoped he would eventual pop the question. "He's so kind to me and understanding. He's great with kids. That's a plus one for me. I want a few little rascals running around myself."
She sighed. Trying to find the right words. "It's an electric current. It only sparks when you're near that person. It's like a lite buzzing. Warm and intense. And when you finally touch it explodes. Than all you can think of his holding this person for the rest of you life. Not to mention the amazing sex."

She laughed when Y/n's face turned red. "Don't worry about being experienced. Kakashi reads those books 24/7 and I know he's had a few flings. Don't be mad at that." She said hastily. She didn't want Y/n to get too upset. "T..that doesn't bother me it's his choice. And in the past...I hope anyways.."

Y/n mumbled hoping he was done with any flings he might have or they would complicate things. She was not into sharing. Once he was hers there was no sharing allowed. She liked the thought of calling him hers...if what Kurenai said was right. Than her dream could become a reality she hoped.

"Good. Because that was experience. It's always a good idea for one of you to have a clue on what to do when things get physical." The white headed shinobi's face turned an even deeper red. The conversation was getting really serious and she wasn't even sure if they would do anything like that with each other...she hadn't even confessed yet. She didn't know how to responded so she stayed quite.

"So do you love him?" Kurenai inquired again. Y/n gave her a small smile. "I don't know yet. But I'm going to find out." She smiled to her friend. Kurenai sighed. "Alright you convinced me." "Of what?" Y/n asked confused. Kurenai smiled at her. "Go on ahead. I know we're slowing you down and we are running pretty far behind schedule. Pus if you stay with us you'll miss your date with Kakashi."

Her friend wiggled her eye brows causing Y/n to roll her eyes. "Are you sure? We're already leaving the guys pretty far behind us I'm sure they're mad."

She scoffed waving her hand at her like it wasn't a big deal. "Look girly you did most of the work anyways. We'll deal with the paper work and briefing. Now go or you'll miss your date."

Y/n jumped over to her and gave her a hug. "Thank you." She said before running as fast as she could. There's was only two hours till sunset by the time she reached the familiar gates of Konoha not stopping to greet the guards they already knew who she was anyways. She got to her house and instantly ran for the shower. While she lathered her hair a thought kept coming to the front of her mind. Should she confess to Kakashi tonight? Was it too soon? They made up almost two months ago surely that was enough time right? She sighed turning off the water once she was done. Y/n wore her regular clothes. And packed a bag with stuff for the evening, walked over to the telescope and picked it up throwing the strap on her back. Her mind battled with her all the way to Kakashi's house before finally coming to a decision. She was going to confess to him tonight. God help her.
