***3Rd Pov Later That Night***

Y/n huffed while dragging a slightly more than tipsy Kakashi to his couch. He definitely had a little too much alcohol and started giggling and grabbing at her the whole walk home along with mumbling cute silly things. She turned around and walked to the thermostat turning it up, Kakashi's house was absolutely freezing, the poor girl couldn't handle the cold anymore. Her boyfriend started to whine when she walked to the kitchen out of his sight. Y/n couldn't help but laugh he was always like this when he drank she didn't mind though finding the clingy side of him cute. "Bbbaaabbbyyyyy. Where did you goooooo?" She smiled while rolling her eye's bringing the whining ninja some water and ibuprofen. "I'm right here now calm down and take this." Kakashi looked at the water and pill than sat up a bit too roughly. He took the pill than grabbed the water a little too fast spilling most of it on his shirt. "Done!" He exclaimed proudly while throwing his hands in the air before slumping back into the couch and leaning his head over the arm. Y/n sighed knowing she'd have to change his shirt. She leaned forward and grabbed the glass setting it on the table than began to untuck the shirt from his pants Kakashi's rough hands stopped her. She looked up confused and watched his hazy gaze. He pushed her away than grabbed a pillow clinging it to his chest.

"Look lady you're okay and all but I have a girlfriend! So don't touch me. She's the most beautiful woman in the world! I know I'm gorgeous but you have to resist chick. Not to mention she's crazy and would kick your ass if you touch me. So don't come crying when she finds you because I gave a warning!"

Kakashi said definitely not allowing Y/n to come close to him for a while before he finally closed his eye's. She wasn't sure how to feel he'd both insulted and complimented her in one go. Even though he was being a pain in the ass she couldn't help but smile. He was faithful that was for sure, but she already knew that. Slowly she reached her hand out to him grabbing his gently. He didn't react so she caressed it with her thumb. "Kakashi?" He hummed at her. "Sweetie can I take you to the bed?" A gentle sweet voice filled Kakashi's ears. He opened his eye to look for its source. The figure was blurry at first but than a head of pretty white hair came into view along with two beautiful pale blue orbs. He was drowning in the girls gaze unable to look away. It felt like she could see straight into his soul. The clock on the wall dinged causing her to break eye contact. Kakashi took a ragged breath not realizing he'd been holding it. He took advantage of the girl's distracted state to really get a look at her. She was breath taking that was for sure. Her pale skin had freckles peppered all over it. Her lips were light pink and slightly plump. The urge to kiss her was unbearable.

"You're so beautiful." He said aloud unconsciously. Who was she? He had to know. "What's your name?" She giggled before answering.

"I'm Y/n. Don't you remember me?" He shook his head no while closing his eye sleep taking hold on him. The feeling was annoying, he wasn't done talking to the mystery girl yet. Who knew when he'd see her again. "Can you walk with me to the bedroom?" She asked in a whisper he shook his head yes and she helped him stand from the couch . They made their way to his bed, staggering here and there, Y/n laid Kakashi down gently but didn't lay next him. Should she? He was still really drunk and didn't remember her. It'd be awkward if he were to wake up still inebriated from the alcohol and didn't know who she was. So the white haired ninja kissed her boyfriend who was snoring lightly on the head than made her way to the couch. She pulled the soft blanket from the back of the it and drifted off to sleep.

*** Kakashi's Pov Next Morning***

The sun blared through my curtains landing straight on my face. I groaned rolling over. The bed was empty except for myself. The throbbing in my head amplified as I sat up. What happened last night? I remember drinking pretty hard with Guy and that was about it. As I looked at my clock a glass of water and some ibuprofen were on my night stand along with a note that I recognized had Y/n's handwritting. I took the pain meds hoping they'd help than grabbed the note as I stood and began walking to the kitchen.

Kakashi,

Hey sweetie hope you slept good and don't feel too crappy. You're probably in the kitchen by now. I left breakfast on the stove and made some fixer-upper-juice it's in the fridge. Kurenai said it's good for hangovers and to drink both containers with in the hour. Anyways I had to leave to meet Sasuke at the compound this morning if you remember. We'll probably be home late. See you soon!

He sighed remembering the pairs plans for the day. They were looking for some books. Y/n claimed the Uchiha clan was very thorough in their documentation when it came to family ties. Apparently the whole family tree was written down in several books. Sasuke didn't know anything about it but he was still kinda young. Y/n insisted she heard her grandmother talking about them and they really did exist although she didn't know where. They'd tear the whole place apart if they had too. He set the note down and opened the fridge to some reddish liquid staring back at him in two really tall glasses. He crinkled his nose while grabbing one, who the hell knew what kind of concoction Kurenai had come up with to cure a hangover. Once he had his food and was sitting at the table Kakashi chugged the juice. Now it wasn't terrible it didn't make him gag but it wasn't exactly good either. He made quick work of it than finished his breakfast. Once all the mess was clean he downed the last bottle swearing it tasted worse than the last and made his way to the shower. Once he was clean and finished his normal routine the sliver haired ninja sat on his couch and pulled out a book. The couch was a bit disheveled not bad, but enough for him to know his girlfriend had slept there which made him feel guilty... why had she slept on the couch? Was she mad at him? Did he try something with her? No if that were the case she would've probably just left him there and went home. He decided to ask later when the two were alone again. After three hours of reading Kakashi started to feel bored. Normally reading kept his mind busy but it just kept drifting into thoughts of his girlfriend. They would probably be on a walk right now or training maybe. Or if he had his way they'd be cuddled up watching a movie or reading together. Being alone in his house just felt wrong, being in his house felt wrong although he was spending much more time here than he wanted to thanks to Sasuke. He'd been sleeping at her house for weeks before the little black headed annoyance came crashing in. Now he liked the kid he was a capable ninja and a bit smarter than his other two genin but being forced to return to his own house every day was far from infuriating. He'd become accustomed to staying at Y/n's house it felt like home with her there. Waking up to her beautiful face every morning, feeling her warmth on his skin, kissing her sleepy lips. Hell he planned on getting rid of his apartment and moving in with the woman once that step in their relationship came. To be honest he was ready but didn't want to rush things they hadn't even told each other they loved one another yet. But where they lived it didn't matter anyways she made anywhere they went feel like home. As long as Y/n was by his side he truly was home. With that being said his true intentions were for them to eventually move back to his childhood home some day. Just the two of them in nature no fighting, no death or sadness, no neighbors or intrusions. It would be heaven just the two of them wrapped up in each other no distractions. The thought made him happy while also saddening him as well, who knew when that would happen. Being a ninja was hard, risky work and took dedication. You put the village above your own life, your own wants and needs. Y/n did that all the time and he himself had also worked in that way for far too long. Yes the village was important to him, more important than anything back in the day. Once he lost everyone all he could do was work and risk his life for the safety of the village to make sure no one else would suffer the way he had. It only took one encounter to dishevel his life completely, shattering everything he ever thought and believed with one look. Once Y/n's blue eyes locked on him the night he had to retrieve her from the compound his fate was sealed. Sure he cared for the village and would protect it at all costs but if things truly got ugly he'd throw everything away to protect Y/n in a heart beat, rules be damned. If they meant risking her life than they were useless and the silver haired Jonin knew his girlfriend would do the same for him even if she did things strictly by the book. But the thought of what might happen when they weren't together stressed him out, Y/n did not want to leave the Anbu. She enjoyed the work and liked that it kept her busy he knew that. In no way was he going to step in front of his girls dreams even though he still wished she would find some other type of work. His thoughts began to bum him out so the ninja decided to leave and wonder around town hoping a distraction would help clear his mind a bit. And boy was he right. As soon as he hit town a familiar sounding shout came crashing into his ears.

"KAKASHI! THERE YOU ARE MY RIVAL! HOW ARE YOU THIS FINE MORNING MY YOUTHFUL FRIEND!" Guy came bounding up to me screaming at the top of his lungs like always. No one in the street even turned to acknowledge the overly excited shinobi, everyone was use to his antics by now, except me of course. I sighed hoping to wiggle my way out of the unwanted social interaction.

"Guy man keep it down. I'm going to go deaf. And I'm great if you must know." I retorted turning on my heel walking in the opposite direction. Guy ran after me matching my pace. "Where's Y/n-Chan? After all the fun we had last night I thought the two of you would be together this morning."

I sighed again. If it wasn't for a certain someone they would be together but instead here I am listening to Guy's stupid questions. My mood wasn't improving as we continued walking together. Guy prattled on endlessly, my one worded responses and uninterested hums falling on clueless ears.

"So when are you two going to get married?" His question threw me for a loop and I almost tripped and fell on my ass. I could feel the color draining from my face at his words. "What the fuck Guy we just started dating! I am not ready for marriage. Where the hell did that even come from anyways?"

I said too loudly while looking at his amused face completely lost on the mans thought process. "Well isn't the point of dating to eventually get married right? You're courting our young youthful friend Y/n. She is but a young flower just starting to bloom. You have no time to waste! We as young men are in our prime right now Kakashi! If you plan to have children than you must..."

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" I shouted unable to listen to his crazy words any longer. "We just started dating. Neither one of us is ready for marriage yet. Let alone kids! We haven't discussed any of this it's way to soon. Not to mention we haven't even said I love you yet! You better not breath a word of this ridiculous conversation to Y/n or I never accept another challenge from you again!" Guy gasped than began to cry dramatically yelling about how unfair I was being. "No please! I take it all back. I shall not say a word to Y/n-Chan I swear Kakashi!"
Guy pleaded unwilling to lose his only true rival. I sighed than nodded continuing to walk. "Now that's over I challenge you to a duel!" I sighed yet again. Please babe get done soon.

***Uchiha Compound Y/n's Pov***

"I don't understand why you had to ask permission is all I'm saying Onee-Chan." The two shinobi were sitting under a shade tree in Sasuke's old back yard eating lunch. They'd found most of what they were looking for but the last book was still missing. It wasn't at Sasuke's house or any of the other homes they checked. The last place to check was my old house. I didn't really know how important our family was to the Uchiha name. Grandma never really spoke much of our family plus she didn't really know my birth parents so I never felt the need to ask if we had a family tree. I cursed myself for not being more curious on the subject. But right now all I could focus on was the grumpy ninja beside me. "Look I've told you before. I know we technically have the right to be here but ever since well you know what happened. The compound has been empty. That's three years Sasuke it would look strange if one of the guards all the sudden found us snooping through peoples homes that didn't belong to us. I just wanted to to let her know what was going on so we didn't have to deal with the hassle later is all."

He huffed at me in response before taking another bite out of his sandwich. "It still doesn't sit right with me. We should be able to come and go as we please."

I lit a cigarette taking in my surroundings. Sure this place belonged to us but there were too many bad memories lingering about. Just being here gave me the chills. I folded my arms over my chest trying to keep out the bad feeling starting to creep up on me. It didn't bother me a first but we had a job to do than and were busy. Now that I was relaxed and had time to think the compound started to feel slightly like a prison.

"I don't mind never returning." I said while looking at the sky. Winter was practically here, most of the leaves had fall from the tree branches and the air was only getting chiller with every day, the sun no longer warmed my skin like it use to and frost covered the ground every morning. I made sure to avoid looking at Sasuke not really wanting to explain why I felt that way. His gaze only became more impatient the long I stayed silent. "Why?" But of course the kid was just as curious as me. I sighed before taking another puff of my cigarette. "Kid I don't know about you but I have a lot of bad memories attached to this place. They out way the good ones that's all I got to say. If you want to eventually come back here that's alright for you but I can't do that. I'm fucked up enough as is don't need this place dragging up my shitty past you know." I pulled my legs to my chest and rested my head on my knees. Sasuke did have a reason for wanting to be here though unlike me.

"I suppose I get why you want to come back here. But I have no siblings and never knew my parents so I don't understand your attachments I guess."

"Do you remember much about your past? Before getting adopted." I'd heard that question a million times and the answer always remained the same.

"No my parents died shortly after my birth and I don't remember anything that happened before Obito's grandma adopted me, I was three then and didn't really get along with anyone very well. So we weren't exactly a close knit family if you can imagine. And I pretty much started working for Hokage Sarutobi once I began Academy. I have no true attachments to this place other than pain. But you had a decent life here at least for a sort while anyways."

Sasuke nodded his head seemingly satisfied with my answer for now. Once he was finished eating we packed up and started towards my old home. The various vines and flowers grandma had planted so long ago had took over the pathway to the house. Once we reached the threshold I had to stop and take a deep breath. I hadn't stepped foot in this house for over three years and the memory from that day was still very fresh in my mind. But I pushed the door open with determination, the same thing happened that had with all the other houses. Dust and cobwebs were coating everything. The home smelled musty from being closed up for so long. And the house was falling into slight disrepair.

"Okay you take the two bedrooms and bathroom back there I'll take main bedroom and rooms on this side."

I pointed Sasuke to the left while I turned right entering grandmas old bedroom. It looked like it always did perfectly preserved. If it wasn't for all the dust I'd think grandma was still living here. I pushed my thoughts aside as I began feeing around all the walls than ceiling. Once I determine they were clear I switched my attention to the floor all of the other books were found in different locations through out various homes in the compound. They'd all been stashed in a secret compartment either in the ceiling, wall or floor. A few hours had passed before a click sounded from the middle of the closet floor were I'd pressed down lightly. Once I moved the lid aside a big red leather bound book stared back at me. I grabbed it excitedly opening the front page, quickly finding the date when the last entry had been entered. It was definitely the most recent book with tons of blank pages for more family members to be wrote down in. I couldn't believe grandma never bothered to show me this. Perhaps she didn't think I'd be interested in this sort of stuff. I wasn't really around much back in those days. Sure I was still messed up but back than I was twisted and dark, hurt beyond all belief no thanks to the fourth Hokage. A shiver ran down my spine when I remembered what my views of the world had been, that Y/n was warped and devoid of true purpose. Thank god for Kakashi, who knows where I'd be now without him.

"Sasuke I found it!" I shouted to him. The sound of his rushed foot steps soon reached the bedroom door. I stood showing him the book.

"That makes six books in total and this one has the most recent date so I'd say our search is done for now let's go home. This place is giving me the chills."

He nodded as we made our way outside quickly leaving the compound. The cool fresh air helped clear my mind sending a wave of relief over me. I ruffled Sasuke's hair and shot him a smile when he scowled back. Looking around town I couldn't help but feel lighter and lighter as we walked further away from my old prison, town was busy the streets lined with people laughing and talking, children playing, couples discussing their futures together. This was my purpose. To protect this village, to protect my team. I looked at Sasuke who was walking beside me with his hands in his pockets, the gesture reminded me of Kakashi, to protect my family. Team seven had become my real family and I wouldn't trade them for the world. Yes I would protect the leaf village till my last breath everything I held dear laid within these walls and I would die for them.

***3rd Pov Later That Evening***

It was dark by the time Y/n and Sasuke returned home. Kakashi was already there making dinner. The white haired shinobi walked up to her boyfriend and kissed his cheek. "So did you guys find what your looking for?" Kakashi asked curiously wondering if the pairs mission had been fruitful.

"Yup. We found six books. The most recent was at my old house actually. I didn't even know it was there. I still can't believe grandma kept all this from me."

Y/n sighed while sitting down at the kitchen table. Sasuke sat down as well watching her with concern. Today kind of enlightened him to how little he knew about Y/n. She was a closed book, she never discussed her past or spoke about what happened before Sasuke met her, the white haired woman had become like an older sister to him over time. He wanted to know more about her to understand her better but for that to happen he needed Kakashi sensei's help. He was the closest person to her after all. Just the thought of asking him pissed Sasuke off. The Jonin never showed up for training on time and made Onee-Chan train them by herself most of the time. If it wasn't for her they'd all be chunin still. Honestly he didn't know what the woman saw in the completely listless man. But as he had to keep reminding himself Kakashi made her happy and that was all that mattered. Y/n and Kakashi continued to talk about their adventure of the day while Sasuke ate in silence trying to figure out a plan for cornering his sensei alone with out alerting his sister. And just that opportunity presented itself a few moments later when Y/n announced she was going to smoke. He watched as she made her way outside. "Kakashi sensei I need your help." The silver haired ninja looked up from his book to Sasuke with a raised brow. He didn't respond but that wasn't going to stop Sasuke. "I want to know more about Onee-Chan but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any advice?"

Kakashi stared at his student in bewilderment. He'd never seen Sasuke really care about anything let alone another person and couldn't help but chuckle lightly.

"What's so funny?" The black haired ninja asked embarrassed. It wasn't that what Sasuke had asked was funny. It was the fact that Kakashi realized Y/n had pulled Sasuke in too. Her awesome personality and strange way of thinking sucked you into her world. The way she viewed things were so different from everyone else's that it made her more than intriguing. That's what hooked Kakashi anyways, the girl had peeked his curiosity and before he knew it he'd fallen so deep into her that any hope of climbing back up was long gone. Of course Sasuke didn't feel that way but she was really stepping up for he kid and trying to give him a better childhood than she had. He could see why the young ninja wanted to feel closer to her. "Nothing kid. My advice is to just talk to her. That's what we do. It doesn't have to start with the big stuff. Start small and work your way from there. That'll work I promise. But with all that being said there's things even she hasn't told me yet so don't get discouraged if she doesn't share everything right away okay?"

Sasuke nodded his head than stood grabbing his dishes and everyone else's. "Hey you don't gotta do that. I'll clean up." Kakashi said putting his book down. Sasuke shook his head and turned around putting the dishes in the sink. "I'll clean up tonight as thank you...for the advice." Kakashi leaned back in his chair and picked up his book. The rest of the evening went by pretty uneventful. Y/n was leaned over the coffee table again grumbling to herself while she tried to understand the information written in Uchiha family records. Although they were well documented it didn't mean they weren't in a huge mess. Plus the poor girl didn't even know half of these people and neither did Sasuke or Kakashi. That meant they were going to need outside help. Which meant going to Lady Tsunade who was currently away on business. Y/n pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration, this little escapade was turning into a full on crusade. She stood hastily than marched down stairs. The sound of running water floated up stairs letting both ninjas know the irritated woman was in the shower. It was getting late and they had training tomorrow but Kakashi didn't want to leave he missed every opportunity to have alone time with his girlfriend this week and no thanks to Asuma and Guy's stupid drinking games she ended up sleeping on his couch last night. This constant separation from Y/n was becoming unbearable, he was starting to feel lonely. After a several minutes the white haired woman occupying his thoughts reappeared from down stairs. She sat on the couch next to Kakashi and grabbed one of the red leather books off the table. He watched as her still damp hair clung to the sides of her slightly reddened face, he knew she liked her showers boiling, and as always smelled like eucalyptus. It was her preferred scent and Kakashi had grown quite fond of it. Just like him Y/n couldn't stand overly floral smells instead favoring ones like pine and mint. Sasuke told them goodnight around ten than went too bed. The silver haired Jonin dreaded what was coming next. His girlfriend stood shortly after stretching out her cramped muscles. She turned to Kakashi and held her hand out.

"Coming to bed?" He turned his head in the direction of Sasuke's room. "We didn't really get to spend the night with each other last night and that turd can get over it. You're staying with me." Y/n pulled his mask down kissed him than had it replaced before the man had time to react than she grabbed his hands before he could respond and guided them to her bedroom. Kakashi locked the door than took off his shirt and slid into a pair of shorts before joining his shivering girlfriend on the bed. He pulled her close and curled up around her. They laid there for a moment before Y/n finally broke the silence.

"I've missed you. It seems like we've had a busy week huh?" She nuzzled her face into his bear chest taking in the scent of books and earth, it made her feel safe and comfortable. He brushed the hair from her face before laying a kiss on her forehead. "I miss you too. I don't like having to leave every night. I don't mind going home just... not every night...it gets lonely. You know."

This prompted Y/n to wiggle free just enough to look at Kakashi's face . He looked sad so she did the only thing a girlfriend could think to do in that situation and locked her lips on his. He was a bit surprised at first but quickly responded by deepening the kiss. The two pulled away when the need for air arose.

"I do know how you feel. The beds too cold when you're not here.. plus things have been so hectic lately. We need a break or something. I think I'll talk to Sasuke again. How am I supposed to survive the harsh winter without my personal heater." The white haired shinobi said dramatically. Kakashi laughed than kissed her again. It was tender and loving just two people who couldn't be more enamored with each other. The kiss turned into small pecks and caress until the two ninjas fell asleep in each others arms.

***3rd Pov Several Weeks Later***

Things were starting to settle down nicely. Y/n's talk with Sasuke went over a lot better than last time. He even seemed to enjoy Kakashi's company, the pair seemed to talk amongst themselves a lot when they were alone. She didn't really care what they were discussing seeing them get along was a lot better than nothing. This resulted in Y/n and Sasuke getting closer, they stayed up and talked about the past and what they wanted for the future on the nights Kakashi went home. The white haired girl still didn't agree with his only goal in life. Getting revenge on Itachi wouldn't fix the past or heal his wounds but she couldn't persuade him other wise. When Lady Tsunade finally came back she instantly assigned them all missions. Y/n would have to skip the one with team seven though her Anbu team had a mission of it's own which meant the books would have to until after. So Kakashi and Y/n decided to spending the afternoon alone at her house, Sasuke had left a few hours ago leaving the couple alone. They'd been making out for awhile now and had to stop before the tension between them became too heated. Kakashi still wanted to wait a little while before having sex. Sure Y/n seemed eager but anytime his hands wondered lower than her torso he could feel her whole body tense up. So he was sticking to baby steps for now. There was no reason to rush not to mention neither of them knew when Sasuke would be home. That was a rule Y/n implemented, they would have no intimate interactions while the young ninja was in the house. But in exchange for the new rule Kakashi was back to spending the night with his girlfriend almost every day.

"When does your mission start?" The white haired ninja was hoping to spend a little more alone time with him before she had to leave. He rubbed his thumb on her cheek before responding. "We have to leave tomorrow morning." She pouted at him hoping for a different answer. He chuckled at her cute face before catching her bottom lip in his mouth gently. She gasped lightly surprised by the action. The sound of the door opening instantly made the pair separate. Sasuke took his shoes off than walked to the living room. He looked at the two Jonin on the couch. Y/n had a deep blush on her face and Kakashi was reading a book nonchalantly like nothing happened. The young ninja sat on the chair opposite of them and raised an eye brow at his sister. She sprung up from the couch instantly and announced she was making dinner, desperately wanting to escape Sasuke's scrutiny. When she disappeared up the steps the black haired ninja directed his attention to his sensei who was still reading a book. "What's up with her?" He asked curiously. Kakashi shrugged before answering. "Beats me kid. I rarely know what's going on inside of that head of hers." Sasuke's gaze intensified but the silver haired shinobi remained silent. He shook his head, adults are confusing was the only conclusion he could come up with and hoped he himself would never fall prey to love.
