As of late life for the two twins had been pretty boring. But to be far after spending six months trapped in Hexside trying to stay alive, they were happy to be back to normal. Well, there were some exceptions such as their father happily divorcing their mother. Chuckling to themselves they recalled their mother's expression of utter confusion when Emira, Edric and Amity had happily chosen their dad over her telling them in no uncertain terms she was dead to them. When the dust had settled, their dad got the house and money, not surprising really as he'd been little more than a tool who tried to stop it while she'd happily followed Belos. Unfortunately, now that everything was done, they were left bored.
Looking at one another they remembered they now had their sister back and as such someone they could tease about their girlfriend. Or at least that was their plan until upon opening the door and seeing Amity looking a bit upset.
"Amity you, okay?" Emira asked her sisterly instincts kicking in. Amity looked at them biting her lip and groaning, which worried them. She only did this when she really needed to talk or ask something but was too nervous to form words. So, Edric calmly sat her down and hugged her. "Hey, come on Amity, you know you can tell us anything." she let out a tiny groan and so he switched to something he knew would get her talking. "If it's got you this worked up, I can only imagine it's relationship problem with Luz."
Hearing this she grabbed his collar and shook him. "Of course not! we're doing just fine!" Seeing his smile, she pushed him away and sighed before speaking. "Look I really need a favor from the two of you alright."
"Sure" they said in unison.
"I haven't said anything yet."
"Doesn't matter, we're here for you anytime for anything. So, what do you need? Pranking supplies? A bit of snails to take Luz out?"
Her face flushed red for a moment before she took a deep breath. "I need you to go to the human world and pick up my clothes. I keep meaning to go but every I go I get distracted, and I really like them." Confused, Emira walked to Amity's closet and opened to see it filled with expensive custom-made clothing.
"Uhh Amity as a girl I understand wanting more clothes but didn't mom by you more than enough?"
Amity looked at her confused before calmly saying something that made them do a double take.
"What are you talking about? Mom only had enough money to buy us a few outfits. After all, suddenly taking care of six kids on a single mother's salary was going to be costly."
The twins shared a look of confusion before Edric asked the obvious question. "Amity by chance by mom? do you mean Luz's mom?"
She opened her mouth to respond before realizing she sat down and started to embarrasingly babble. "Imeanshe'swhatamomshouldbe...and I only called her mom once by accident...butshesaiditwasokay... and in the future, she may be..." seeing her sibling's amused expressions she grabbed a pillow and screamed into it until she'd regained her composure.
"Anyway, can you go there and get them?"
"I mean yeah but you still have a closet full of them." Amity took one glance in her closet and with a tone that sadly they all had simply said five slightly pained words. "Those were never my clothes."
The room went silent as they understood her words. Everything about them had always been controlled and planned by their "mother" from magic to clothing. Emira and Edric being the first born and twins were well aware of this. You could open either of their wardrobes and find identical clothing with their only "true clothing" being hidden in a secret compartment. It was no secret that that they'd been a bit jealous seeing Amity wearing her human clothing.
"Wait can't your girlfriend just bring them here?" he asked a bit curious.
"I'm sure she could but she King and Lilith are exploring some old titan ruins for the next few days. So, mo- Camila should be alone."
That's when they got an idea. "Alright Amity we'll go and get your precious clothing that your mommy bought you. But you know that means we'll need your precious portal key." Emira teased patting Amity on the head earning an annoyed groan. Many times, they'd tried to borrow her key, but Amity kept an impressively tight grip on it. Their last few room searches had proven to be failures but now she had to give it to them. She smacked her hand away before very reluctantly turning her hair into abomination goo and pulling out the key earning applause from them. "Well done little sister." She almost called off the idea when she saw the twinkle in their eyes but still gave them the key to Luz' new human world portal. "Now I can stress this enough, take care of this key! We could only make three of them."
Stealing the key Edric examined it while casually tossing it up and down, making Amity nervous. "Yeah, yeah don't break or lose it we know. Now didn't dad say he wanted some daddy daughter time or something?"
"By titan I nearly forgot." Since the divorce their dad had been doing his best to mend their relationship and as such had spent days bonding with all or just one of them doing whatever they wanted.
"Dad said he's taking me to an old abomination wellspring. Now before I go remember once though the portal follow the coven marked stones and you'll find Luz's home." As she was leaving, she remembered one more thing. "Oh, and remember no magic beyond hiding your ears and beware cars and be on your best behavior!" With that she ran out leaving Edric and Emira to smile as they said what they were both thinking.
"So do Amity's favor then get our own human clothes?"
"Of course, Edric I mean look at these pants." she said summoning a pair of torn jeans. "They actually came pre torn! Apparently, it's common over there. It's not fair that only she gets to were these."
"But don't we sneak in and try them on?"
"Exactly! So, let's go get our own!" their excitement growing they pressed the button on the key and threw it as it expanded. They were actually nervous as they stepped through the portal and into the refurbished shack.
"So, this is their little clubhouse?" Emira asked, seeing the fabled hangout spot she'd told them about. "Not too bad I suppose."
"Yeah, but I want to see the human world our little sister got so much of."
Once outside the shack they illusioned their ears to a rounder shape before following the series of large stones Amity had told them about until they reached the street.
Moments later Emira had to pull Edric back before he was hit by one of the fabled cars.
"Edric! By titan we've only been here for five minutes!"
"What? Excuse me for wanting to find out on my own."
She gave him a firm rib punch before dragging him the rest of the way to Luz's home.
But as they stood Infront of the entrance they got a bit nervous, sure Camila was a nice women that had practically adopted Amity and who always seemed warm and motherly. However, their old instincts were starting to kick in.
Be polite, stand up straight, never tarnish the Blight name.
Knocking on the door they only had to wait a couple minutes before she saw and greeted them.
"Emira, Edric so good to see you." she said scooping them into a warm hug as she brought them inside.
Before they could even blink, they were seated at the table with two cups and cookies in front of them.
"So, what brings you to the human world? Nothing bad I hope?"
"No, nothing like that, Amity just wanted us to pick up her precious human world clothing. Their pretty important to her."
"Yes, I noticed that. After buying them for she was clutching the bag as hard as she could. Even told me she could never repay this gift. Poor thing acted like she'd never had her own clothes before."
The twins let out a small noise that Camila couldn't help but pick up on.
"Wait, she hadn't?"
"Our mother would never allow it. Everything we've ever worn was predecided to better suite her image." Even on the rare occasions she convinced their mother to let them wear something else she "encouraged" them to wear concealment stones.
They saw her ball her firsts and speak in angry Spanish which they didn't understand but from context guessed she was mad for them.
"Mrs. Noceda it's fine really. She's no longer in our lives."
After calming down she apologized for her behavior something that took the twins by surprise as their mother never apologized.
"Anyway, we'll pack up her clothes then if it's okay with you try to find some human clothing of our own." he said, feeling some new emotions welling up.
Camila though without missing a beat, stood up, hugged them both before saying "Nonsense we're practically family, so you two wait right here while I gather her things then we can head to the store. Everyone deserves to have their own clothes." They tried to speak up, but she waved them off. "And don't you worry about paying as the vegetables Willow planted sells like gold here. Something about being actual super foods, so consider the shopping on me." with that she was off leaving the twins confused, well that and feeling warm inside.
"Uh Emm why do I feel warm and content inside?"
"I think that's what it feels like to feel maternal love. No wonder Amity calls her mom." listening for a minute they could hear her humming upstairs and found it to be calming.
"Should we play along then? I mean we don't have any human money, not to mention having no idea where the store is." he asked secretly, wanting to stay with Camila.
Emira, feeling the same, sipped her tea thinking back to the many times Amity had talked about Camila.
"She's just so kind and warm. Luz and Vee are lucky to have a mom like her."
"It would probably be for the best. Besides Amity got to enjoy this world for months, seems fair we get to have some fun for ourselves." Edeic smiled as he caught sight of the human crystal ball or television as it was called and turned it on to see a special on human creatures. Something he immediately took an immense interest in as the beastkeeper in him took full control.
"Wow, Amity told me that the human world had a lot of animals, but I thought she was messing with me." Emira tried to ignore him, but her curiosity got the better of her when it showed a large black and white creature eating a stick of some kind. She'd never seen something that fluffy and adorable.
They barely noticed when Camila came down the stairs with Amity's clothes in an old suitcase. "Alright I got her clothes, are you two ready to head to the store?"
Seeing them glued to the tv she snatched it up and turned it off. "Oh no you don't. I know how easily it is for witches to get addicted to tv. Now come on you two we have to get there before it closes."
They weren't sure why they said what they said next, but they would admit later it changed everything.
"But moooommm." Their hands went to their mouths in disbelief as she hid her laugh behind her hand before she guided them to the car.
