Miyuki had been a student at the university for a few years now, and he had been dating Sawamura for almost as long. It was always so nice to come home to him after a long day of classes and studying, but lately he had been feeling a bit guilty.
Sawamura had been so understanding when Miyuki had asked him if it was okay if he got a part-time job at a local coffee shop. He had been so supportive and encouraging, but it was taking a toll on their relationship.
They could rarely find a time to be together, and it was starting to hurt their relationship. Miyuki realized this, Sawamura also realized this.
Then one day, when Miyuki returned home, Sawamura came up to Miyuki with a request.
"You... you want to get a job?" Miyuki asked at the end of Sawamura's explanation of his plan.
Sawamura's face split open in a smile. "Yes, Miyuki Kazuya! That's correct!"
"But…" Miyuki hesitated, thinking over his thoughts and what he knew of Sawamura. "But I thought your parents give you money every month so you could focus on your classes without worrying about anything. I thought you didn't need any more money?"
"That's true," Sawamura said, nodding, "But it's not about the money. It's about spending time with you, Miyuki. I want us to have more time together, and I thought if we both worked here, then we could always have time to talk and be together."
Miyuki paused, his eyes growing wide. Then, he smiled, feeling the warmth of Sawamura's words. He could feel the love and care in Sawamura's voice, and he knew that he would do anything for his boyfriend.
"Okay," he said softly, "I'll talk to my supervisor. They were looking to hire a few people anyway."
Sawamura smiled, thrilled that his crazy idea might actually work.
"Although just be aware, the job's not as easy as it looks," Miyuki added.

Two weeks later, Sawamura realized exactly what Miyuki meant by that statement. If he only knew how much stuff took place behind the scenes. Restocking cups, mopping the floors, cleaning the bathroom, counting deliveries…
He would have just continued to hang around until Miyuki got off his shift everyday.
But no, he shook his head. This was going to help both of them. Once he got the hang of things, Sawamura would grow to enjoy working there, just like with everything he did. And once he got the hang of things, he would be able to enjoy the more time he spent hanging out with his boyfriend, it would all work out. He just had to wait.
He felt his phone buzz in his pocket. A new email.
He pulled it out to see what it was. Ah, great, he smiled. This week's work schedule.
His eyes quickly skimmed over the shifts for the days and times each person was working this week, specifically, him and Miyuki.
So, he had the afternoons of Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
While Miyuki had… those same days, but the morning shifts.
He huffed. Well, so much for them being able to spend more time together. If anything, it looked like they would be spending less.
The next week didn't show any better results when it came to their work schedule. Or the week after that.
"It's just that, we've been working together for over a month! And we haven't had any shifts together!" Sawamura ended up snapping one night.
"Hey," Miyuki sighed, trying to calm his boyfriend down. "It's not like I make the schedules."
"But seriously, can you blame them, Sawamura," Kuramochi asked as he listened in on their conversation. "Your first week you guys had the same shifts, and you spent the entire time trying to snuggle and make out with your boyfriend."
Eijun sputtered. "That's… that's not the point!"
