Summary: When Lieutenant Turquoise was ten years old his life was saved by a Mermaid.
Mermaid
Daniel Paul Svenson, was ten years old when his life was saved by a Mermaid.
He didn't remember much about that day, only that he was walking down a pier with his maternal grandmother staring at a bright pink boat when something swung out and hit him in the head – knocking him off the pier at the same time.
The next thing he remembered was coughing and sputtering and finding himself staring at the prettiest face he had ever seen.
She had warm brown eyes and honey blond hair, and Daniel found himself falling in love in the moment before he passed out again.
The next time he awoke he was in the Hospital, with his concerned parents and grandmother sitting beside the bed. When he asked about his Mermaid his parents looked confused, and his grandmother stated he must have been talking about the girl that helped fish him out of the water.
Needless to say, by the time he got out of the hospital, the girl and the pink boat her family came in on were gone.
He never stopped looking for her, every time he saw a woman with honey blond hair, he tired to see if she had warm brown eyes.
He never found her.
Until he did.
It had been more than ten years since that fateful day, and it was the first time he worked with International Rescue in the course of his job as a colour coded officer for Spectrum.
Captain Mahogany had ordered him to locate and protect the aquanaut on Thunderbird Four, as she helped evacuate innocent civilians, as Mahogany and Lieutenant Coral went after the normal human terrorist's, who were sinking the boat.
It turned out to be a very fateful call, as one of the terrorist's had discovered Four and took offence to her saving people's lives. Turquoise had managed to pull her out of the way before she got shot, and took out the terrorist, before he could fire again.
She wasn't impressed, and they found themselves bickering like an old married couple throughout the entire rescue, with both Mahogany and Thunderbird One yelling at them to stay on task on more than one occasion.
They finally found their common ground at the end of the rescue when they were forced to work together to save some hostages from a couple of other terrorists who thought taking them was a good idea.
As they were talking and thanking each other for their help, while waiting for pick up, she took off her helmet and he was startled to find that she had honey blond hair and warm brown eyes.
In that moment he realised that he had finally found his Mermaid.
