Disclaimer: I own nothing other than the plot. The original concepts belong to JKR and Warner Brothers. The plot may seem similar to other Fictions, but has its own twists after the first few chapters.

A/N: So the first six chapters are already done. Though there will be notes at the beginnings and ends, there won't be any changes made. This is an AU, so you will notice some things said that may not line up with canon, just accept it as smaller things may not be worth elaborating on. The basic plot of this is Harry becoming his own. He will be a lord, it is one of those fictions. Dumbledore will help and guide him, but he will not follow Dumbledore to a tee, and may come to blows one day. Harry will be powerful, but not unbeatable. I plan on Sirius being involved, and Remus too, though the Prisoner of Azkaban arc will still happen. As of now, this is a first person story, though at times it may go to third person. I will do my best to make sure it is clear who's view it is from, but I may miss occasionally. Pairings are remaining a secret for now, though I can say without a doubt that Ginny will not be married to Harry. Read, review, and enjoy, or don't, as this story may not be for everyone.

In My Time of Dying

Tom Riddle's laughter rang out in the chamber as I lunged out of the way of the basilisk's mouth again. The thing was massive. When it passed me earlier, and my up close and personal view of it, I would guess it's size to be probably seventy five feet long, and three feet wide.

The sword was cumbersome to be fighting with, it was three feet long, and never having wielded one, was something completely different than a wand. I made do though, as I recovered myself, climbing up and running past one of the dozens of snake statues. It broke seconds later from the force of the basilisk's lung, another failed attempt to end my little life.

"See Potter, even blind the basilisk's power is one to be feared. You should give up, him eating you is a quick way to go." Riddle cackled out.

You know, I think I hate the younger Voldemort more than the one I fought last year. Cocky asshole.

I realized he was right though, I had no plan to kill this thing, and only a little hope. I had no wand, and even if I did, the hide was stronger than almost any dragons. Even without the gaze, its venom, strength, and durability were still enough to make it one of the most dangerous predators out there. Certainly its size added to its advantage.

I focused on finding a good place to make a stand, glancing back to see it still dazed from its head on with stone. Well, no time like now. I turned the rest of my body to face it, lifting the sword as I did. It didn't weigh a lot, maybe five pounds, but still something to adjust to. I put myself into a stance similar to what I had glimpsed on telly. Legs spread shoulder width, both hands on the blade with my right shoulder forward slightly.

I watched as the monster turned towards me. Smelling me out, before moving only a few feet closer. Maybe it wondered why its prey stopped running, maybe it was just building up a strike. I didn't care, I just wanted it to act.

"End it" Riddle hissed out.

The basilisk heeded the command, lunging at me. Time seemed to slow down as it neared, allowing me to take in the details. Its size aside, the fangs were each nearly ten inches long, and there were dozens of them. Its tongue was probably five feet long in its mouth, and it's jaw wide enough to now easily eat me. I was nearly perfectly centered on its face, and watched with a sickening fascination as the blade penetrated the roof of its mouth, going straight up into its head. The blow should have thrown me, but other than a slight movement of the sword, I barely felt resistance. Its whole body tensed, stopping it from continuing its path, but not before a fang penetrated my right arm. I felt the searing pain of the stab, the wound going deep, nearly to the bone from what it felt like. I knew then it was too late, the venom was now coursing through my body.

I let go of the sword as the snake fell sideways, mouth still agape. The tooth broke from its mouth, staying in my arm. There was complete silence in the chamber, only things to be heard were the dripping of water and my heavy breathing, and soon my footsteps as I walked forward, ignoring the blood dribbling down to my hand, the burning starting to spread.

I ripped the sword out of the basilisk's mouth, blood splattering from it as the tip clattered against the stone of the floor. I looked to my right arm, as the fire of the venom spread down to my fingers, and into my chest. The second deadliest venom, according to that ripped page that was in Hermione's hand, now pumping through my veins. Slowly ending my life. No one had survived it longer than ninety seconds. Twenty had already passed.

I pulled the tooth from my arm, though I knew it made no difference. The pain in my chest was starting, and so was a migraine, though maybe that was from impacting the wall earlier.

I had only one more goal, to destroy the diary before I died, so at least Ginny could live. No need for anyone else to die too, especially if Voldemort really got to live again from this. I ignored his mocking laughter.

"The boy who lived!" He laughed out loud. "Even managed to kill the basilisk, but it doesn't matter, you will die, and in a few minutes, I will live. Such a shame, I almost hoped to get to fight the one who managed to kill me." He mocked, feigning sadness.

He really reminded me of Dudley, though thankfully Dudley wasn't the one to kill me. I would never forgive myself for that one.

"So ends the last of the Potter family. I wonder if you will be remembered after I conquer again. Or if you will be forgotten, a mere footnote in the history books." Riddle laughed at the thought. I ignored his petty insults.

I collapsed down in front of him, dropping the sword to the ground next to me. Ginny laid between us, pale and barely breathing. Whatever the diary was doing to her, I knew the end result was her death. I looked at the diary lying next to her, before reaching and picking it up. I could sense the energy from it, disgusting, twisted. It was hard to lift, but I managed. Riddle stopped gloating at this.

"Potter, what do you think you are doing?" He seemed frightened, and was no longer twirling my wand. Good.

I took in a deep breath, though I struggled to do so. If my counting was right, I was at 43 seconds, almost halfway to the record. "Personally, I think I am doing one last thing before I die, bringing you with me." With that I swung my left hand down with what force I could muster, puncturing the cover of it with the basilisk fang that had been in my hand. A syrup-like black ink poured from the cover, pulsing like a heartbeat.

I looked up, and saw Riddle flicker, a ghostly blue substance seeming to leak from a hole that appeared in his chest. It was as if he went from being solid to a ghost, his form seeming to start to pale and turn transparent. My wand fell from his hand as he screamed, and as I flipped the diary over, I briefly wondered if he felt the same pain I did, or if it was different.

I stabbed the diary a second time, more ink-blood oozing out of it, covering my knees and the floor. I felt the strength leave my arms, dropping the fang to the floor as the diary bled. It only lasted moments, before his form flickered and disappeared. I felt then that I had accomplished my mission, and I could only hope Ginny would survive, elsewise everything would have been for nothing.

I sighed, knowing there was little to be done for me though. Blood had run down my arm and was dripping onto a small puddle on the floor. I knew the venom had made it to my chest, as the pain was getting worse, and my breaths were getting more shallow. It must have also made it to my head too, as pain was starting there, especially around my scar. I wondered if I should be more afraid, but truthfully, I wasn't. Somewhere along the line, I had accepted that I might have a short life, whether it ended from my relatives or from something else.

I lost count, but it was somewhere in the minute and ten second range when I cried out. Thanks to the beatings from my cousin, and occasionally my aunt and uncle, I had a high pain tolerance. However, even all of those beatings combined were nothing to what this was becoming. My chest felt like liquid fire was trying to burst from it, and my head was starting to rapidly hurt more, pressure and pain growing quickly. I could feel blood running down my head from my scar.

I fell to the side as I screamed, only barely aware of the phoenix song growing louder in the background. It was too late though. My vision was almost entirely gone, and what wasn't gone was dark red from the blood in my eyes. I felt Fawkes nudging me, but I didn't have the strength to move. It was only moments later when the pressure in my head gave way, and a high pitched scream was heard. I wasn't even sure it was my own. Not that it mattered. My vision blackened seconds later, and I succumbed to the darkness.
