Hi, some quick notes. 1. There is a small Skyward Sword moment near the end, with Fi, one of the characters. No spoilers, no need to play the game first. Just a heads up. 2. I played with the time line and stuff a little bit. It's particularly obvious in chapter 2-1. I took some liberties. 3. Obviously there are major spoilers for Breath of the Wild and some spoilers for Rhythm of War. Anyway, enjoy!

Kaladin heard a voice saying, "Link! Wake up! I need you to get up and save Hyrule."

Kaladin woke up in an odd room, full of strange tech. He was also floating in a pool of water.

He called out,"Where the storms am I? Did I get knocked out? Syl? Are you there?"

Syl answered,"I'm here! It looks like we're in some sort of room. It looks like Urithiru but also…not?"

"I don't think we're in Urithiru. Something funny is up. And when I find out what…"

A voice suddenly was shouting in his head. In a female voice, it said,"Link! You're finally awake. Time is running short and I need you to rescue Hyrule. Grab the sheikah slate off of the terminal over there."

"Who in the storms are you? And how are you talking in my head?" Syl was giving him a funny look, so Kaladin mouthed,"Later" and waved for her to go scout. She flew off.

"I'm using my powers to communicate with you telepathically. You don't remember me?" The voice said, hurt.

"I don't want to offend you, but I don't think we've met. My name is Kaladin, not Link."

"Oh, my name is Zelda. What are you doing in the resurrection chamber? If you hurt Link…" Zelda's voice trailed off ominously.

"I haven't seen whoever Link is. I woke up here after I was in…" He hesitated before just saying,"a teleportation device." He was starting to wonder if he was off-world and had no interest in explaining oathgates.

"Then I guess you'll just have to do, for now. On that stand over there is a device called a sheikah slate.

Kaladin wandered over to the sheikah slate terminal. He picked up a small, blocky device with a reflective screen.

Zelda prompted him. "Turn it on. It will work for just about anyone."

On the front page was a grid, with irregular lines scattered about. "I've got it on, but it isn't doing anything."

"It was damaged before Link was placed in the chamber. I guess that some of the functions were lost, but it will help you navigate Hyrule. You'll have to reactivate things as you discover new shrines and towers. Once you get off the plateau, find Impa. She knows more." Her voice was starting to get softer. "I can't maintain this much longer. I'll be in touch, but I need to rest. He's-" Zelda's voice abruptly cut out.

Kaladin attempted to pocket the sheikah slate. To no avail. He tried to summon plate first and when that didn't work, wandered out into the hallway to find a few chests. Finally clothed, in a scratchy pair of pants and bright yellow shirt, he waited around for Syl to come back with a scouting report.

Syl returned in a rush of air to perch on his shoulder. "The view is stunning outside. But while I'm not exactly well-traveled, it certainly doesn't look like Roshar out there. I don't know where we are." Seeing his look, she said,"And, yes it looks safe. Other than the dead grass. Hurry up!" With that said, Syl gestured outside and flew off.

Kaladin vaulted himself over a strange wall in the middle of the hallway. Syl was right, the view outside was stunning. He could even make out some sort of castle surrounded by a dark force. He certainly wasn't on Roshar anymore.

Kaladin looked down at his feet. Which were standing on grass. None of the grass around him was moving. Kaladin reached out to touch a blade…it didn't shrink back. Kaladin shrunk back instead. What was up with this place? Was all the grass tame?

Kaladin climbed down a small hill, dodging plants that didn't move the whole way. On the way down he explained how Zelda could talk to him telepathically. Both agreed that it was weird, but too early to tell if Zelda wished him harm. Syl, gratefully, didn't question his sanity. At the bottom of the hill, a figure with only a white beard visible under a brown cloak was sitting at a fire.

He turned to Kaladin and with shock said,"Who are you, young one? I thought you were supposed to be Link?"

Kaladin thought that he looked familiar in a way. Even though he'd never seen Wit in a beard, it would make sense if the man showed up out of the blue. He was always doing that at convenient times.

"Nice try Wit, I know it's you under there. I don't remember the beard but it sure makes for a good disguise."

"I don't know a Wit…"

Kaladin was only even more convinced that Wit was playing a prank and had somehow orchestrated Kaladin's appearance in whatever strange world he was currently on.

"Hoid?" Kaladin tried,"Are you going by Hoid right now?"

The old man only shook his head,"I'm sorry, I don't know who that is."

"I get it, you're deep undercover. Since I'm here, do you have any long-winded stories full of meaningful insights that I need to hear right now?"

"No…though since you don't seem to be from around here, I should probably let you know about a few things. Take a seat. If you want to keep calling me random names that's fine, but I go by the name of the Old Man."

Kaladin sat down, and the Old Man explained how Kaladin had landed in Hyrule, a beautiful but cursed land. He tried to tell Kaladin about something called bokoblins, but it only confused him, and the Old Man eventually gave up. He also explained how the only way to get off the plateau was to paraglide. The Old Man had the only paraglider, a cloth that would let Kaladin glide off the land mass. He would give it to Kaladin once he found something called a spirit orb in four shrines around the plateau. Every once in a while he would try to get Kaladin to describe where he came from, but after Kaladin deflected for the fifth time, he finally gave up. Kaladin hadn't felt like explaining, even if it was rude. Oh, and all the plants were tame on Hyrule. He had no idea how they survived storms.

After the Old Man's explanation appeared to be done, he turned to him. "So the only way off here is to do your weird quest or to Lash myself. Do you by chance have some stormlight on you?"

The Old Man just looked confused.

"Hard way it is I guess. Just my luck. Stormin' Hyrule."
