In Hateno, the villagers directed him up the hillside to Purah's workshop. When Kaladin walked in, there was a man standing in the corner reading, of all things, and a young girl sitting at a table.

Kaladin asked the girl,"Do you know where I can find Purah? This is supposed to be her workshop."

"You aren't from around here, are you? Silly, I am Purah. I had an anti-aging accident. It's a long story. What brings you to Hateno village's ancient lab?" the girl responded in a giggly voice.

"My name is Kaladin, and I need your help to fix this." He pulled out the slate.

Purah snatched it out of his hands, and started to examine it thoughtfully. Finally she said,"It's an easy fix, but unluckily for you, my equipment just broke. The eternal blue furnace flame went out for some reason. I'm going to need you to bring back more, as payment for fixing your device. The flame is burning back behind the village. You can't miss it."

Thirty minutes later, Kaladin was half way up the hill, and going steady. He would have flown but he figured it would be best to conserve stormlight until he knew for sure how hard shrines were to complete. So far he'd only done three outside of the plateau ones, but they all varied in difficulty greatly. One he had needed to burn stormlight to get to, but it was worth it for the ability to warp right outside of the dueling peaks stable.

As he continued to climb the hill, it started to become overcast.

Kaladin looked up to see dark clouds. Of course there was a highstorm on its way. "I swear…" he said to no one in particular.

He wouldn't make it to Purah's lab in time with the flame. But there were small lanterns all along the path up the hillside. Kaladin dashed and just barely lit the wick before the flame went out completely.

Syl said,"Are you sure that lantern will stay lit? It's coming down."

"It will just have to do. If all else fails, I only have to bring the flame from the furnace again."

He ran up to Purah's lab before the rest of the storm hit.

"I didn't know that there was going to be a highstorm today. Were you trying to kill me?" Kaladin was out of breath.

"Highstorm?" Purah said confusedly,"What's that?"

"So you don't have strong winds that only come from one direction almost every ten days? And destroy countless houses? And fill the gemstones you leave outside with magic light?"

"No, what are you going on about? Did you hit your head out there?"

Kaladin sighed. There was no good way to explain a highstorm. "Your land is very strange. I mean, it didn't look like you were prepared for highstorms but I figured that you just didn't get hit very often. Are there any strange weather phenomenons that I need to know about?"

Purah just looked at him confusedly. "No? Oh, look, it isn't raining any more. Why don't you go finish bringing that ancient flame up?" She started to make notes in some sort of journal. She probably thought he was crazy, but it was a reasonable question.

Ten minutes later, Kaladin walked up the final stretch, and lit a small blue furnace outside the lab. Luckily the flame had survived the storm. Inside, a strange device like the terminals in sheikah towers started to light up.

"Yay! The furnace is lit! Now I can do my experiments again. Oh, and fix your sheikah slate," Purah said.

Kaladin gave her the slate.

"Now give it a snap so I can fix it. On three. Two. One. Snap!" Purah clicked her fingers together. Kaladin barely resisted an eye-roll as he gave a weak snap of his own fingers. Purah's theatrics were starting to grate on him.

Purah was unimpressed but pulled off the sheikah slate from the terminal and handed it to him.

Then She explained some sort of rune, called a camera that could freeze moments in time. She also added,"By the way, Zelda used this slate one hundred years ago. I couldn't get the locations but there are still pictures that she took on it. Anyway, it might be nice to go visit those places if you get the chance. Oh, and by the way, I think I can upgrade your runes if you bring me guardian parts. Stop by sometime, Kaladin."

"I'll definitely have to check that out. Thank you."
