As Kaladin stared up at Waterblight, Mipha's voice returned. "That's Waterblight, a creation of Ganon's. It's what killed me a hundred years ago. You must defeat it for me, Kaladin."
Kaladin had only one thought looking up at it: Storms.
He fumbled with the sheikah slate, but it wouldn't turn on. Navani's fabrials never just stopped working. Stormin Hyrule. He wanted to teleport, he thought as he pounded the slate. It's not that he didn't want to help Mipha, just that he was sorely unprepared for a fight. The slate didn't respond to his fiddling. Hard way it was. He turned to face the blight. And jumped as it swung its giant blade towards him.
"Right, I'm pretty sure that could kill me in one blow, stormlight or not," Kaladin said out loud to Syl.
Kaladin backed into a corner, to buy himself time. He struggled to focus, but finally managed to think of the image of another soldier's spear he'd found long enough to pull it out of his pocket. He would have rushed forward, but he had no idea where to attack the thing. It didn't really have any obvious weak points. Kaladin absentmindedly kept his spear pointed at the thing, while Waterblight charged up for an attack.
"It's eye seems to be a weak point. Look at how it flinches whenever you point your spear at it," Syl said excitedly.
Sure enough, Waterblight backed up when Kaladin swung the spear towards its eye. As Waterblight rushed forward, Kaladin lept and planted the spear in the thing's eye. It fell to the ground, and seemed to become vulnerable, so Kaladin attacked the Ganon goop that made up its body, which damaged the beast. After a few seconds it recovered, and only a quick leap to the left, still resulting in a graze, saved Kaladin.
As much fun as it was to launch himself at Waterblight, he really didn't want to keep doing that. He needed a better way to damage the blight's eye. Suddenly he got an idea.
"Syl, can you keep it busy while I search for the shock arrows? It shouldn't take long," Kaladin said.
While Kaladin was searching, he watched her out of the corner of his eye. Syl appeared to be making goofy faces at Waterblight or something. Waterblight was clearly unsure how to react so it swatted at Syl. Being incorporeal, she kept going anyway. Whatever she was doing, seemed to be keeping Waterblight busy.
Kaladin managed to fish a few arrows out of his pocket, shocking himself in the process, but lashed one at the beast. He had just enough stormlight for a few similar shots, and healing. If it came down to it, he'd have to use the phrenic bow.
Waterblight fell down again, and Kaladin successfully beat it up with the spear for a longer period of time. Soon it shook off the attack, and Kaladin lept back. Kaladin did that a few more times, and then Waterblight decided to flood the room. For some reason. Since when did monsters do things like that? Why save what was clearly a more powerful attack? He wasn't sure it was a normal monster. It kind of acted like a really stupid Unmade. Kaladin swam to one of the now floating platforms. He hoped the other divine beasts involved considerably less water, because he was sick of getting soaked.
Waterblight started throwing ice at Kaladin so Miphia reminded him that cryosis can break the blocks. He was running low on Stormlight, so he begrudgingly shuffled between using the sheikah slate and lashing arrows at Waterblight. Except after two arrows, he ran out of stormlight.
He pulled out the phrenic bow, and quickly notched an arrow, like he'd seen Rock do before. He was probably holding everything wrong, but he didn't have many options. He pulled back on the string, and it really was like he was aiming an arrow at something only a foot away from his face. He fired, and Waterblight went down on a nearby platform.
After a few more minutes of firing arrows and dodging ice blocks, Waterblight disappeared into a puff of smoke.
Mipha appeared as a blue ghost in the room. She looked just like her monument, down to her short stature.
"You have done well, replacement-hero. As I am dead it will do me little good so I grant you my ability to heal from blows that would've otherwise killed you. Use it well."
Mipha then explained how she was going to fire Ruta at Ganon, but Kaladin wasn't really listening. A blue orb had appeared and been absorbed into him. He was a little concerned. Mipha seemed nothing but nice, but he really didn't want to discover that ghost powers were non-transferable, and have it suck his stormlight or something. Maybe he could figure out how to get rid of the power if it became a problem.
Mipha soon faded out, and Kaladin teleported out of the beast to Zora's Domain.
