Kaladin walked into the Zora palace. He explained to King Dorephan how Vah Ruta was being controlled by Mipha's ghost now, and the monster inside vanquished.

"It is not nearly enough in repayment, but take Mipha's spear." King Dorephans gestured to a chest beside the throne. "May it aid you in your journey. Come back anytime you wish. I'm sure your help will always be appreciated."

Kaladin opened the chest, and the spear inside was a beautiful, well balanced weapon. Kaladin didn't think it was nearly enough but he said,"Thank you, it has been a pleasure serving you and your people. Mipha wishes you well."

Kaladin walked out of the throne room. He was walking into a small shop on the tier below the palace, when Sidon came up behind him.

"Kaladin! I wanted to congratulate you on defeating Waterblight. Our people are safe now, thanks to you. And I also have a small favor to ask." Kaladin prepared himself for some complicated mission, involving lynels and lizard monsters. Instead Sidon continued,"How was Mipha? What was she like?"

Kaladin had forgotten that the two were siblings. He'd heard that Sidon was young when Mipha had died, though he didn't know how zora memories worked with their life-spans. It must have been hard, not remembering much of anything about his brave older sister. Kaladin looked at Sidon's hopeful face, and made a snap decision. He didn't really need Mipha's power. Sidon would do better things with it.

"Mipha lives on as a ghost in the divine beast. She can still operate Vah Ruta. And she granted me her gift, the ability to heal from serious injuries."

Sidon looked a little bit sad and said,"That's great" with less of his usual gusto. "She was able to heal others with it, not just herself. I bet you'll make great use of it."

Kaladin hadn't known that, and considered keeping the power for a moment. He could instantly heal people on the battlefield. He could watch over Bridge Four even better. But that time in his life was over.

He shook his head as he said,"The thing is, I want you to have it. I sensed what she did in passing her power on, and I think I can transfer it to you. You'll do much better things with it than I will. Take it." Before Sidon could politely object, Kaladin concentrated on the blue tinged power inside him with all his might, and forced it out and into Sidon. Sidon received it with a smile.

"I promise to use this power only for good, in honor of Mipha's memory. Thank you, Kaladin." Sidon sounded the most sincere Kaladin had ever heard him.

Sidon then turned, and ran off, probably in search of someone to test out his powers on. He really would do great things with it. Kaladin was glad he had given the power up.

Kaladin tried to pocket Mipha's spear, which he was still somehow holding, but was blocked. Maybe there really was some sort of magic limit on the number of weapons he could carry. He ended up leaving a stick behind that he'd been meaning to get rid of anyway. For some reason that counted as a weapon.

But that solution wasn't permanent. He was also spending way too much on inns. What he really needed was a place to store his stuff, and somewhere to sleep.
