Outside there was a short man in red wearing a Yiga mask. He announced,"I, Master Kogha, am the leader of the Yiga! All who have come to reclaim the thunder helm have fallen before me. You too will come to know my power and fear me."
Kaladin was suddenly reminded of some troublemakers back home. He asked,"Are you by chance related to the Sons of Honor from Roshar? You know, like a sister branch? The Sons of Honor wanted to bring back a dark god, you want to bring back a dark god, it just sort of makes sense."
Master Kogha actually seemed to consider Kaladin's question. "I don't know who these Sons of Honor people are, but they sound pretty great."
Kaladin pulled in some stormlight in preparation. Things were going to get messy. "They don't exist any more. I helped destroy their order."
"Intimidation will not work on me." Master Kogha said as he was clearly trembling. "Are we going to fight or not?"
"Will you hand over the helm?"
"Nice try, shrimp. Take this!"
Master Kogha dropped some sort of spiked ball that he'd summoned, right next to where Kaladin was standing. Kaladin had lashed the ball ever so slightly.
"Whatever dark magic you just used won't stop me. I will pre-"He started holding his back and dancing around. "My back! That hurt!"
Kaladin felt sort of bad for taking advantage of his pain, but he had Master Kogha in a strangle hold in seconds.
"Where is the thunder helm?"
"I will not give up! I will fight to the last breath." Kaladin tightened his hold and Master Kogha cried out.
"Fine," Master Kogha choked out the word, and Kaladin loosened his grip just a little. He said,"It's in a secret safe underneath the dais in the room over there. But you'll never find the key."
"I already have the key."
Kaladin held up the key that Syl had slipped to him only moments before.
"You're making a big mistake. I have the power of the ancient sheikah on my side-"
Master Kogha finally fell silent as Kaladin choked him until he was unconscious. He'd wake up in a little bit, and with any luck nobody would come looking for him for a while. He may have been the leader of the Yiga, but Kaladin got the sense that he wasn't really the brains behind the operation. Kaladin wanted to get out of the base without meeting whoever really was in charge.
Kaladin found the helm, surprisingly exactly where Master Kogha said it was. Kaladin and Syl teleported back.
The guards in front of Gerudo town could hardly believe he had the thunder helm, but Riju, true to her word, had warned them. They let Kaladin enter, but weren't happy about it. Both the ladies nodded respectfully to Syl when she entered. Somebody had made friends.
Inside the throne room, Kaladin took a small bow in front of Riju's throne. Then he reverently handed Buliara the helm. She took it with a dismissive huff, and placed it on a nearby stand.
Riju watched the whole exchange before saying,"So you are the famed hero of Hyrule. I thought you were Hylian?" She was only the second to notice his lack of pointy ears. "No matter, thank you for returning the thunder helm."
"It's what anyone would have done."
"But there is much left to do. I will need you to come with me to deal with Naboris. I am heading out to an outpost south of Gerudo town. Buliara will give you the coordinates, and you will need to come as soon as possible with any supplies that you might need, including a sand seal. We will ride behind Naboris, take out its legs, and you will climb aboard. Any questions?"
"I'll meet you at the outpost."
Buliara was clearly mad that she wasn't invited, but Riju didn't notice. It wasn't Kaladin's job to get in the middle of her and Riju, so he left it alone.
