"Bye, mom."

"Bye, watch out, ok? And if you don't like it there - "

"I'll be fine, mom. I'm not gonna turn into a pumpkin, don't worry. Now I'm going before I miss the train."

"Ok honey, bye."I just waved at her and got on the train. To be honest, I'm not sure I will be fine but telling her that would surely result in her climbing to the roof of the train so she can come with me to Hogwarts. If she hasn't done that already. I tried to see through the window behind the sliding doors if my mom was still outside.

"Hey, a boy named Neville has lost his toad. Have you seen it?" a voice startled me. I turned around and saw a girl with bushy hair looking at me straight in the eyes. Creepy.

"Um, I- I don't think so."She sighed and opened the doors, asking the boys inside the same question. There was a redhead boy with freckles and one with glasses. After she got her answer, saw a failed spell, fixed the boy's broken glasses, and pointed out some dirt in the redhead's face she left. Oh boy. What have I gotten into? I don't know if I'm just being dramatic or if she's really that terrifying. Well, to me, she surely is.

"You ok?" asked the redhead."Oh, yeah. Thanks" I answered quickly.

"Do you wanna sit with us? There is room." the boy with the glasses said. Wait didn't that girl say his name was Harry or something? I wasn't paying much attention. Once I sat down the boy with glasses said "Harry" Ah, so I was right."Ron." the redhead said."Y/N, nice to meet you"

The sun had gone down when we finally arrived at our destination. I heard a man yelling for all the first-years to follow him.

"Hello, Harry." the very tall man said.

"Hello Hagrid." said Harry. Ok, so the giant's name was Hagrid.

"Right then, this way to the boats. Follow me." Hagrid said.

We got into the boats, and they somehow started moving. Magic, I guess. I have to admit, though, that the sight of Hogwarts could very well be the most beautiful and impressive thing my eyes have seen. We were all fascinated. After going up some stairs we saw a woman with a witch hat.

"Welcome to Hogwarts. Now, in a few moments, you'll pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats, you must be sorted into your houses" she said.

Harry and Ron looked at each other, and I really hoped that they were as clueless as I was.

"There are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Now, while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule-breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded a house cup-"

"Trevor!" a boy shouted and picked a toad off the ground. That must be the boy that the girl on the train (I don't remember her name) was talking about. He looked up at, what I guess was a teacher apologetically and she looked at him like she regretted ever being born.

"Sorry." the boy said and went back inside the crowd.

"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." she finally said and left.

Okay, that wasn't so bad-

"It's true then, what they were saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." a blond boy with a smile that shouted,'I'm better than you' said.

"Harry Potter?" numerous whispers were heard in the crowd.

"This is Crabbe and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy." the blond continued while walking towards Harry. Then I heard Ron snort a bit.

" Think my name's funny, do you? I've no need to ask yours. Red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley." Draco said. I already don't like him. Not Draco, Malfoy. I don't wanna think of him with his first name. I was in half a mind to say something, defend my new friend, but I have no idea of how things around here work so I decided to not do anything. For now.

"You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." Malfoy said, extending his hand to Harry. Please don't go with the bad guy. Please don't go with the bad guy.

"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks." yesss! Take that Malfoy.

Then that teacher from before patted Malfoy in the back with... something. I don't know what it was.

" We're ready for you now. Follow me." she said.

We got into a big room with many, many kids watching us. Too many for my comfort.

" It's not real, the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History." the girl from the train said. Well, it was indeed beautiful.

"All right, will you wait along here, please? Now before we begin Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words."

Then an old man with a very long white beard, glasses, weird robes and hat stood up.

" I have a few start-of-term notices I wish to announce. The first years, please note that the Dark Forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, has asked me to remind you that the third-floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you" he continued.

Ok so we have a forbidden, most likely very dangerous, forest, a creepy caretaker with an equally creepy cat and a floor inside the school that we die if we go. *sighs* I'm starting to regret my life choices.

"When I call your name, you will come forth. I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses." the teacher said.

"Hermione Granger." she said.

Ah, so her name is Hermoine. Greek, I like it.

"Oh no, ok, relax" Hermoine said to herself.

"Mental, that one, I'm telling you." Ron commented and Harry nodded.

Hermoine sat down and the teacher put the Sorting Hat on her head.

"Ah, right then...hmm... right. Okay. Gryffindor!" the Hat said.

So that's how the sorting happens. A whole table started cheering and clapping.

"Draco Malfoy"

Before the Hat could even touch his head, it yelled "Slytherin". Malfoy smirked and went to his cheering table.

"There isn't a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin." Ron said.

Figured, since Malfoy was sorted there.

"Susan Bones"

"Ah" I heard Harry say. He was touching his forehead where his scar that he showed me earlier was.

"Harry, what is it?" Ron said, concerned.

"Nothing. Nothing. I'm fine." he said. I followed his gaze and saw that he was looking at a Professor with black hair and robes, staring back at him intensely.

"I know! Hufflepuff!" the Sorting Hat said.

"Ronald Weasley"

"Ha! Another Weasley! I know just what to do with you. Gryffindor." that relief on Ron's face nearly made me laugh, but I was happy with him.

"Harry Potter"

"Hmm... difficult, very difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh, yes. And a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?"

" Not Slytherin, not Slytherin." I could hear Harry say.

"Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here, in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatnesses, no doubt about that. No? Well, if you're sure. Better be... Gryffindor!" A lot of cheers came from the Gryffindor table. Some kids got sorted after that.

"Y/N Y/L/N"

Oh no.

I was one of the last to get sorted so I should have been ready. I wasn't. I almost tripped on the steps and when I sat down and the Hat didn't talk, my hands started sweating uncontrollably.

"Hm... interesting... very interesting. Where should I put you? Hmm... you want Gryffindor to be with your friends, don't you? You could, but better be... Hufflepuff. "

The Hufflepuff table started cheering. I sat down and some other kids introduced themselves to me. I noticed Ron and Harry looking at me and I waved at them. They waved back. Will I be able to hang out with them now that we are in different houses?

"Your attention, please." Professor McGonagall, according to a classmate of mine said.

"Let the feast begin." Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster, as I heard, said.

Suddenly platters full of food appeared on the table. Everyone was talking and eating.

"No, actually my parents aren't both wizards. My dad is, my mom isn't. But she knew even before they had me. They love each other very much." the girl seating beside me said.

"What about you?" she asked me.

"Oh, my parents are both muggles. Well, my adopted parents. When they found out I'm a witch, they told me that I am adopted, so I don't know who my real parents are."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"Don't be!" I said in a lighthearted tone. Then ghosts started flying through the room. Actual ghosts. And everyone was laughing. I looked over at the Gryffindor table and saw a ghost with his head almost chopped off. I was this close to a heart attack.

After supper, the prefects lead us to our common rooms. The stairs were a bit tricky since they changed direction on their own, but we made it. The common room was beautiful, full of plants and vines and natural light, in warm colors, with doors shaped like barrels. I was blown out of my mind. It was so peaceful and only being there calmed me down.

Each of us went to our assigned room. I was with another 5 girls, but the room was big so it was okay, and they were all nice. I was exhausted so I quickly changed into my pajamas and I soon had already fallen asleep. Tomorrow was a new day in this new world.

Suddenly, you hear a creepy old voice saying: Don't worry, my child. More chapters are to come.
