Girl Behind It All

Chapter 3

Authors Note : to my readers thank you stay tuned.

The rest of the week went by without Lucas saying anything to me or even looking in my direction. Which made Brea dinner and lunch uncomfortable.

Karen was great. Had rules I needed to follow. I had a curfew. Chores.

Which was all new to me but I was figuring it out.

Dan was nice intense and was very clearly counting down the months until I left.

Which I expected. I was an unplanned visitor. I had been getting into trouble my whole senior year. I almost didn't graduate.

What can I say I'm an adventure. A party anywhere I go.

One of the first things I did once I unpacked was go shopping.

I needed to see what I could buy in this small town I had never heard my mom mention until this trip.

Clothes shopping first. Then I stopped by a record store. How cute and outdated I mean no one even owns record players these days.

At least I thought so.

(I've been waiting days for this record to come in. I'm waiting to bring a copy home.) The young woman insisted.

Turning around as she almost knocked into me.

(I didn't t see you there. Sorry. I'm Peyton.) She said.

Brooke smiled. She was thin beautiful. Blond and wore alot of dark colors.

(Brooke Davis.) She replied.

Brooke awaited a reaction. But Peyton just turned her head.

(Thank God. My favorite person.) Peyton gushed.

Another young woman entered the store. The two kissed.

Brooke wasn't sure what to do or say.

(Anna Taggoro. My girl is passionate about her music. Hopefully she isn't keeping you from enjoying this place.?) She asked.

(Not at all.) Brooke said.

Watching as the cashier put a handful of records in Peyton's bag before.

Brooke left the store. She felt so out of place here.

Everyone knew each other had a history.

She shopped for awhile longer before going home.

The aroma of freshly baked food making her stomach grumble.

She got settled in the kitchen.

Not surprised to find Lucas already seated.

(What is you're problem with me.?) Brooke asked.

Lucas looked back at her.

(You being here at all. I like my life the way it I never wanted it asked for a stranger to move in.)

(But of course. My mom can't say no to someone in need. But you aren't in need.)

(You're a spoiled. Rich. Out of touch. Mean girl.)

(You're only here for a couple of months. Let's stay out of each others wsy.) Lucas proclaimed. As he grabbed his plate and went to eat in the backyard.

It was only then that Brooke saw his laptop open. Her name in the search bar.
