Chapter 2

Sarek's daily work schedule didn't allow for much time for contemplation, however, Amanda had entered his mind each day since she left a month ago. In fact, he would not travel to Earth for business for another two months, but he didn't want to wait that long to converse with her again. After their impassioned kiss, Sybok had entered the room and hesitantly, Sarek left, knowing that they wouldn't see each other again. That knowledge made him sick to his stomach for a short time but neither Sarek or Amanda had the foresight to make plans to communicate while she was on Earth.

"Ambassador, you have a communique from an Miss Grayson, would you like me to keep this message," one of my assistants questioned as I ate my evening meal in my office.

"Yes, please put it through," Sarek answered, after chewing his last bite. He picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth. After his assistant did so, the erudite Vulcan pushed the tiny button on his computer to play the message.

Amanda, dressed in a lengthy blue dress, materialized immediately. To his horror, he felt his heart skip a beat.

"Greetings Ambassador, I hope this communique finds you well. I wish to set up a time to converse with you at your convenience, and I look forward to hearing from you," Amanda stated pleasantly and then smiled brightly at him. Sarek thought she looked radiant, and he felt a warmness in his chest.

Eager to speak to Amanda, he replayed her message a couple of times as he finished his meal. Despite its illogicalness, Sarek rather enjoyed conversing with the beautiful earth woman and missed her.

After he completed his work, he contacted Amanda who answered right away. She too appeared enthusiastic to speak to him, and cheerfully greeted him,

"Ambassador! You received my message, I see! It is good to hear from you!"

"Yes, indeed. Please refer to me as Sarek, and may I call you Amanda?"

Nodding, she agreed and inquired about his health. After responding, Sarek chose to do the same inquire for her.

" I have missed our conversations, Amanda," Sarek huskily admitted, his cheeks turned a light pea green color because he was a tad embarrassed to reveal this to her.

"Likewise, Sarek," Amanda agreed, grinning.

They covered many topics such as his trip to Earth, her current assignment at the Federation Academy, Sybok and his work in an hour and a half. Sarek observed that Amanda was yawning, and she began to struggle keeping her eyes open during a short lull in the conversation.

" Amanda, I do not wish to keep you any longer to deprive you of your rest. May I contact you within a week's time?"

"Yes! You can contact me whenever. sarek," Amanda suggestively responded, with an arch of an eyebrow.

"Indeed? I will keep that in mind, Amanda," Sarek quipped with a twinkle in his eyes. Simpering, she blushed at his mini- flirtation then inquired her hazel eyes wide open,

"Does your position require you to go to Earth in the near future, Sarek?"

"Regrettably, not for two months, twenty nine days and twelve and half hours," Sarek rattled off.

"Such a shame, I would love to see you again sooner," she lamented disappointedly with a frown on her face, and she yawned again.

"Agreed, Amanda. Let me wish you pleasant dreams and keep you no longer," Sarek gallantly declared,

"Good bye, Sarek. Until our next conversation," Amanda responded, then she blew a kiss at him with a slight giggle. Puzzled, he was taken aback by her action until she explained it.

"Live long and prosper," Sarek replied afterwards.
