(A.N. A Time Force story that follows mostly follows each episode of the original series but delving deeper into Jen and Wes's feelings because let's be honest, it's one of the best relationships in the franchise. Jen's Revenge is one of my favourite episodes in the series – mostly because you can see Jen and Wes's feelings for each other growing – but also the last scene with Katie and Trip is brilliant. Katie is such an underrated character and I love her, so she'll be featured a bit more in this story. Anyway, enough of this, let's get into the story. I hope you enjoy and please feel free to let me know what you think :) )

Jen's Revenge

The last thing Jen remembered about last night was being thrown against the wooden crate and then watching as Ransik writhed in pain, everything after that was a blur. She couldn't quite decipher if what she was remembering actually happened or if it was simply a dream. Then she remembered his voice calling out for her and a glimpse of a red and black helmet as he held her before everything went black.

Her head ached and she was too afraid to open her eyes, scared to know where she was, if she was safe or the true extent of her injuries. She mustered up her courage and turned her head slowly, opening her eyes. Relief flooded through her as she saw the ceiling of the clock tower - she was safe. It wasn't a dream. She slowly sat up as pain radiated through her body and she managed to make it fully upright before she noticed the weight on her arm.

She looked down to find Wes asleep, his hand gripping hers. She didn't notice – nor could she help – the smile that painted her face as she looked down at him. He stayed with her all night, he slept beside her, slouched over with a tight grip on her hand. He never let go. Jagged memories of the previous night came back to her.

"Jen, where are you?"

"Jen!"Desperation filled his voice as he slid over the car to land beside her. He knelt down, bringing her to him. One hand on her back, the other hand cradling her neck as he begged. "Jen, are you alright? Jen, speak to me."

"She's hurt," Katie said.

"We've gotta get her home." Trip added.

She shook herself from her thoughts, her eyes still looking at Wes's hand on hers. Rested on the blanket she assumed he'd placed over her, she pulled her hand from under his, replacing it over the top and squeezing gently. The gesture said everything that she didn't - everything that she couldn't admit. She let herself enjoy the moment for a second longer and with one last deep breath, she pulled her hand and herself away.

They'd won, just as they had each time before but something about this one felt different. She picked up the mutant and put it into containment and paused for just a second before she felt Wes beside her, closing the lid. As soon as she looked up at him, he smiled. That stupid, adorable, boyish smile that she couldn't help but smile at.

Their moment was quickly interrupted by Lucas's voice. "Good job guys."

They turned around to face the other three rangers standing in a line and she felt as Wes walked up beside her, his arm around her, hand on her shoulder as he looked at her and said. "Come on, let's go home."

She couldn't help but grin as they made their way to fall into step with the rangers.

Back at the clock tower, Jen found herself sitting on the roof, thoughts flooding through her mind. So much so, she didn't hear Wes behind her until he said. "I know I'm not Alex."

She turned to find him leaning on his forearms on the windowsill. She turned herself fully as she held out her hand for him to help her back into the clock tower. As she was jumping down, she told him. "But I don't want you to be like him." Once her feet were firmly on the ground, – Wes's hand still firmly holding hers – she looked into his eyes then away as she nervously revealed. "In fact, I like you just the way you are."

"You do?" He asked hopefully.

When she looked up, the beginning of a grin was making its way onto his face as she answered. "Yeah, I do."

"Yes... Yes!" He laughed to himself before he cheered. The brightest grin she'd seen yet plastered his face as both of his hands held hers and she couldn't help but smile too. He brought her into a hug – his arms wrapped tightly around her shoulders as hers remained in the position he'd put them in.

She felt his hands slide down her arms as he pulled back before their attention was taken by a crash in time to see Trip and Katie on the ground with all three Time Force rangers looking guilty. Lucas began whistling as if he'd done nothing wrong while Katie pulled Trip up. Jen was in a daze before she seemed to realise the situation and she pulled her hands out of Wes's before pushing him away and looking at her teammates.

Katie seemed to see this as a golden opportunity and looked at Trip with mock nervousness, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she mocked. "I like you just the way you are."

Trip played along with a grin. "You do."

Jen missed the way that Wes smiled and looked at her, despite their mocking as she gasped.

Katie gasped, her arms out in a hug towards Trip. "Wes!"

The green ranger mimicked her actions. "Jen!"

They embraced in a dramatic hug and that seemed to be the last straw for Jen as she gasped and pointed her finger at them before running towards them. Wes laughed, warning them. "Oh run." The two rangers split directions as Jen ran after them, the pink ranger chasing her other female counterpart as Lucas and Wes watched them amused.

After all the antics were over and everything was forgiven, Katie placed her hand on Jen's shoulder. "Hey, can we talk?" The girl nodded and they went out onto the roof to get some privacy from the boys. Once they were both seated, the yellow ranger turned to her friend, starting with. "You know everything in there was just fun and games."

Jen nodded. "I know."

"Now putting all that aside, I think you've got a lot on your mind and you're trying to sort through it all."

She knew not to lie, Katie always had a way of being able to see right through her, she could read her like a book. "I'm just confused."

Katie shook her head. "I don't think you are. I think you know exactly what you're thinking and feeling but you're scared to admit it. You feel like it's wrong if you can actually make sense of what's in your head because you believe it's wrong for you to be feeling that way."

"But it is wrong."

"No, it's not Jen." She placed her hand on the pink ranger's shoulder. "Let it out – say it out loud – and make sense of it all." When she saw her hesitance, she added. "You can say anything Jen, it's just me. It's a safe space."

Jen sighed as she revealed. "I'd been so sure about Wes when I first met him. I thought he was some selfish, snooty rich kid that's never worked for anything in his life, I thought he'd unlock Alex's morpher and go back to his privilege..."

"But he didn't."

"But he didn't and the more we got to know him, the more I was glad he was on our team. He turned out to be nothing like I'd thought he was and everything like I hadn't. And now, it's just making everything more confusing."

Katie looked at her sternly. "You're avoiding Jen." When the pink ranger didn't respond, she sighed. "Alright, how about I give it a crack and you tell me how I do." She didn't wait for Jen's answer. "You and Alex have so much that was left unresolved and you haven't given yourself time to process any of it. Wes is the Alex of 2001 and the problem you're having is that you tried to vilify Wes to place Alex on a pedestal but now that Wes is breaking each belief you had of him, you're feeling guilty about Alex."

"It feels like I'm betraying him."

"Betraying him how? Liking Wes isn't a crime and hating him isn't going to bring Alex back." It was harsh but it was a truth she needed to hear. "You're friends with Lucas and Trip, how is this any different?"

Jen inhaled deeply before she quietly admitted. "Because I don't like Wes the way I like Lucas and Trip." She shook her head. "I told you, I'm betraying him."

"You're not betraying him Jen," she said as she pulled the girl into a hug. "I think your fear of hurting Alex is hiding the real reason you're scared." The pink ranger looked at her confused so she elaborated. "From the outside, Wes and Alex are basically the same person but they are so different that now you're second-guessing yourself. If I had to guess, spending all this time with Wes is making you question everything you thought you had with Alex."

Jen shook her head adamantly. "No, I love Alex and I know he loves me too."

"But Wes is falling for you, too." The pink ranger scoffed and shook her head, causing the yellow ranger to look at her incredulously. "Wait... You seriously haven't noticed?

"What are you talking about?"

Katie rolled her eyes. "Jennifer Scotts, you may be a damn good Time Force ranger but you are oblivious as hell." She received a glare in response, which she shook off. "Are you telling me that you haven't noticed the way he always seems to be next to you and how he's always smiling at you?" When she didn't respond, Katie placed her hand on her friend's knee. "Jen, I know you probably don't want to hear this but Wes cares about you, – a lot – probably the most out of all of us. I think I need to fill you in on a few things."

Jen nodded and the girl continued. "When you went off last night, Wes was the one to realise you were gone. He was the first one into that warehouse and he was the first one beside you. He slid over a car to get to you. Now whether you remember that or not, I'm not sure but I wish you could've seen him after we got back. Obviously, I got you out of your uniform and into your pyjamas but the rest was all Wes. He had your bed down there ready for you, he covered you with the blanket and he was the one who bandaged you up."

Wanting to give him credit where it was due, Jen added. "He stayed with me all night. When I woke up, he was slouched over asleep beside me... He held my hand all night."

Katie couldn't help but smile at that previously unknown detail. "Now you can't tell me he doesn't care about you." Jen didn't respond so Katie continued. "Now I know we were making fun before, but do you know what Wes was doing when we were teasing you, while you were too busy glaring?"

Jen glared at her in response which only made the yellow ranger laugh, but her curiosity got the better of her so she asked. "What?"

"He was looking at you." Katie shook her head with a smile. "While you were glaring at us, Wes was smiling at you. He looked like a love-sick fool but Jen, I've never seen someone look at another person like that." She didn't know whether she should say the next part out loud but she did anyway. "I've never seen anyone look at you like that... Not even Alex." Jen flinched and Katie immediately regretted saying it. "I'm not saying he didn't love you, we all know he did, but... There's just something about the way Wes looks at you, it's different."

"It's starting to sound like you don't like Alex."

"Come on, Jen, you know that's not true." Katie sighed. "I do like Alex, we all do, you know that." She chose to think about her words carefully this time as she said. "It's just that you're different here. You know I love you no matter what but you seem so much more you than you do in the future. Wes brings out the best in you Jen, and we love the person you are when you're around him." Jen went to argue but Katie interrupted, knowing what she'd say. "Yes, yesterday wasn't the best example but you've gotta admit it, you're different when you're around Wes, in a way you never were with Alex."

Jen nodded slowly. "I am." She shook her head, her eyes misting as she looked up at her friend. "What do I do Katie?"

The yellow ranger brought her into a hug before answering. "Talk to him Jen, tell him the truth and then you can decide together." She pulled away to meet her eyes. "You know I'll talk to you about anything any day and I'm more than happy to be your confidant but I think in this case, Wes deserves to know the truth and you deserve for him to know the truth."

She sighed. "You're right."

Katie placed her hand on her shoulder."I'll support you with whatever you decide but we've got a few more mutants and Ransik to take out before we go back to the future, you've got plenty of time for you guys to make decisions."

Katie got up, leaving the rooftop and leaving Jen to her own thoughts. Conversations with Katie usually always helped clear everything up, but in this instance, it only became more complicated. Knowing Wes's behaviour from an outside perspective made her already confusing feelings for him even harder to sort through. This led to doubts.

As Jen looked out at the city from the rooftop, one thing swirled around her head. 'I always thought I knew what I wanted and I had exactly what I wanted with Alex... but now, after getting to know Wes, now I'm not so sure.'
