Starlight
The Doctor looked at Yaz, Ryan and Graham. The three of them were having fun and the Doctor could not help smiling. Despite a detour where they had encountered Weeping Angels, the TARDIS had driven them to the 25th century during the coronation ceremony of Queen Charlotte II of England. Of all the coronation ceremonies the Doctor had attended, whether in the 9th or 30th century, the one of Charlotte II was the most lavish. She hoped that this new destination would please them. And seeing their smile, she had not been mistaken.
Suddenly, someone walked past the Doctor. She froze and opened her eyes wide. It might have been a stranger among many, but even after all these centuries, the Doctor would have recognized her among hundreds of other people.
"Rose," she whispered.
A torrent of emotion ran through her. She wanted to cry and laugh at the same time.
"Doctor ?" Yaz asked. "Is everything alright ?"
"Yes," replied the Doctor a little hesitantly.
Her three companions looked at her worriedly. But they should not be worry, she thought. Quite the reverse, finding Rose was the best thing that could happen to her. She looked in the direction Rose had gone. She was moving further and further away. Soon she would lose sight of her.
"I have to go see someone. See you later."
She pushed her way through the guests. Her companions called her, but she no longer heard them. All she thought about was finding Rose before she disappeared again. She saw her go out on the balcony and she followed her. The Doctor suddenly thought the TARDIS was there. Perfect, she thought. If Rose saw the TARDIS, then she would be waiting for her. The Doctor arrived on the balcony. Night had fallen and the stars lit up the sky. She saw Rose in front of the TARDIS, her hand resting on the door. Seeing her like this, the Doctor had the impression that Rose and the TARDIS were able to communicate. Rose put her hand to her ear, as if she had an earpiece.
"No, I haven't found him yet. But the TARDIS is there, he's not far. I'll contact you later Mickey."
Mickey ? So she had met up with Mickey and Martha again. Thousands of questions crossed the Doctor's mind. How had she managed to come back ? What had happened to her clone ? How many years had passed by for her ? But above all, would she recognize her ? Would she like her new look ?
"Rose ?"
The blonde turned towards her. She gave her a questioning look, but after a few seconds, she had a gleam in her eyes and a smile lit up her face.
"Doctor ! I finally found you."
Rose rushed to her and threw herself into her arms. The Doctor put her arms around her and hugged her. She never thought she could one day have the feeling of having Rose in her arms again. Rose pulled away slightly.
"You regenerated."
"Is this a good or a bad difference ?"
The Doctor felt as if she had found herself back centuries ago, when she had first regenerated in front of Rose. What she thought had always been important to the Doctor.
"A good difference."
A huge smile lit up the Doctor's face and all the anxiety she could feel was gone. But first of all, she had so many questions to ask.
"I have so many questions for you. How is it possible ? How did you come back ?"
"We need you Doctor. The stars are going out in every universe."
The Doctor frowned. She understood that Rose came from her past.
"The universe is about to end. I... I've been through it before. You have gone too far into the future."
"How long ?
"It does not matter."
"Doctor, how long has it been ?"
The Doctor sighed. It was useless to lie to her.
"Several centuries."
Rose looked down, understanding what that meant.
"I see. If it happened centuries ago, I died for a long time."
The Doctor put her hands on either side of her face and looked her straight in the eyes.
"Rose, it's gonna be alright. Everything will be fine, I promise you."
Rose nodded and put her hand on top of the Doctor's. She approached her face to Rose's and rested her forehead on her. They did not take their eyes off each other. Even if she knew she was going to be gone soon, the Doctor wanted to enjoy this moment with Rose as much as possible.
"Do you have to leave soon ?"
Rose nodded.
"Wait a few minutes. Stay with me for a few minutes one last time."
"All right."
The rhythm of the music changed and slow music was heard.
"Rose Tyler, do you want to dance under the stars ?"
A huge smile lit up Rose's face.
"I do."
The Doctor put her arms around her and Rose rested her head on her shoulder. They danced slowly. They kissed. This kiss expressed all the love they had for each other. Time had stopped. The only thing that mattered was that they were together and that they loved each other. The music stopped. But Rose and the Doctor did not pay attention. They continued to kiss under the starlight.
The end
