Nova then pulled her arm back and drove the spear head down towards Xena. A moment later Xena yelled in pain and anger as the dagger sunk into her shoulder while she grabbed her chakrum and slashed at Nova. Slitting the Amazon's throat and throwing off her aim for Xena's chest in the process. The blood began to pool on the ground under them as the world went dark for Nova with a sickening gurgle and she fell dead next to Xena.
XENA
Damn it that hurt.
Xena winced as she pulled the spear head out of her shoulder and tossed it aside. She tore off some fabric from a nearby slain Amazon and tied it around her shoulder wound as she got up and retrieved her sword before running off to find Gabrielle. But Xena was stopped when she saw someone suddenly standing in front of her.
XENA
(Angry tone) I don't have time for your crap now.
She scowled at the god of war in her way with a smug expression on his face.
ARES
That looks like it hurt.
Ares casually noted Xena's shoulder wound.
XENA
(Angry tone) I'll live.
Xena preceded to walk past Ares but was again stopped when her grabbed her arm. She glared at Ares as he smirked.
XENA
(Angry tone) Ares I swear if you don't get you hand off me right this second...
ARES
You'll what? Kill me?
Ares laughed knowing that Xena was fully aware of his immortality. Xena yanked her arm out of the gods grip.
XENA
(Angry tone) I might not be able to kill you, but trust me I can still beat the living daylights out of you.
ARES
Now that's the Xena I like.
Xena sneered as she began walking away.
XENA
I don't have time for this.
Xena stopped and glared fiercely at Ares who appeared in front of her again, blocking her way. Xena couldn't help but think that this sort of nonsense was one of the many reasons why she had a real dislike for gods in general. Especially the ones who just seemed to love to meddle in her and Gabrielle's lives. And the worst offender of them all was the god standing in front of her at that exact moment. Ares was completely obsessed with Xena and it had caused both Xena and Gabrielle a lot of trouble over the years. And in all honesty Xena was really getting sick and tired of it.
XENA
(Angry tone) I'm warning you Ares don't push me right now.
ARES
(Mocking tone) Oh no Xena's mad, what will I do?
Ares laughed until he felt Xena's fist connect with his cheek. He shook off the shock and looked back at Xena in front of him.
XENA
(Sarcasm) Sorry I didn't catch what was so funny. Oh did that hurt?
Ares scowled.
ARES
You tell me.
Ares punched Xena with an uppercut to her jaw and sent her flying back with his godly strength. She landed on her back a few feet away. Xena layed there for a moment while the sky came back into focus from the hard hit. She sat up and wiped the blood from her mouth. Ares smirked as he stood there.
ARES
Would you like to give up now or should we continue?
Xena got back to her feet and held her sword tight.
XENA
Ares I'd die before I surrender anything to you.
Ares sighed as drew his sword.
ARES
Such a disappointing waste. Okay Xena have it your way.
Xena ran at Ares and the two crossed blades as their fight began.
GABRIELLE
Gah!
Gabrielle took another hard punch to her midsection and doubled over as Alanis grabbed a handful of Gabrielle's hair, forcing her to look at her.
ALANIS
What's the matter Gabrielle? Aren't you gonna put up a fight?
Alanis drove another shot into Gabrielle's stomach and let her go as Gabrielle dropped to her hands and knees.
GABRIELLE
(Thinking to herself) What's going on? I can't seem to do anything against her. Why can't...
Gabrielle's thought was cut short when Alanis drove her knee into her face. Gabrielle fell back in pain and looked up at the Amazon standing over her. She quickly kicked at her and Alanis just seemed to take the hit, but not feel it. The Amazon looked down at Gabrielle and smirked.
ALANIS
Is that the best you've got? I seriously wonder how you've managed to stay queen for so long and still be so pathetic.
Gabrielle kicked Alanis again, but like before her hit had no effect. She got up and backed away a little. She knew that something about Alanis wasn't normal. Between her incredible speed and power along with the fact that Gabrielle couldn't seem to do anything to the Amazon. There was definitely something strange about the whole situation. Alanis could see that Gabrielle had figured out that her abilities didn't seem natural and flashed an evil grin.
ALANIS
Oh right you probably haven't figured it out yet have you?
Alanis quickly grabbed hold of Gabrielle's throat and lifted her off the ground with one hand. Gabrielle kicked at Alanis as she gasped for air while trying to pry the Amazon's hand from around her neck.
ALANIS
I suppose since I can tell you before I end your worthless life.
Alanis threw Gabrielle down and crouched down next to her as Gabrielle coughed and took in a few deep breaths. Gabrielle swung at her and Alanis easily caught her hand.
ALANIS
(Angry tone) What's it gonna take for you to realize that it's pointless for you to keep fighting?
Alanis smacked Gabrielle across the face. The shot hurt, but it was ment to insult and belittle Gabrielle more than anything. Gabrielle glared at Alanis who smirked.
ALANIS
Looks like I have your attention now.
Gabrielle didn't say anything as Alanis stood up and walked around a little as she spoke.
ALANIS
You see it seems that you've been making all sorts of enemies all over the place Gabrielle. And honestly I'm not surprised by that fact one bit.
GABRIELLE
(Angry tone) What are you talking about?
ALANIS
Well alittle before I came into this battle I received a rather useful gift from someone very interesting. Oddly enough they seemed very happy with the thought of me killing you and granted me power to help me achieve that goal.
GABRIELLE
(Thinking to herself) Someone else wants me dead?! Who? And why?
Gabrielle didn't have time to think about that because at that moment Alanis grabbed her and almost effortlessly tossed her away from her. Gabrielle hit the ground and rolled a bit before coming to a stop. She winced in pain as she layed on her stomach and slowly raised her head to see Alanis turning towards her. The Amazon stretched a bit as she began to speak again.
ALANIS
(Sinister tone) Ah I think I'm finally getting used to this new power.
Alanis began to slowly walk towards Gabrielle.
ALANIS
(Sinister tone) And now that I've gotten a hold of this, I think it's time to finally put an end to your reign as queen for good.
