She stood in front of the door, sighing. She could hardly believe what Kevo told her. To think that Melio was living with other people. And she was taking care of two young girls. She couldn't help but worry about how she was handling it.
Taking a breath, she rings the doorbell.
"Coming."
She tries to still her nerves before the door opened.
"Hello?"
She was surprised to see another girl open the door, looking surprised.
"Um, hello. Is Meilo Kobayashi in?" She said.
"Um, she's out at the moment. How are you?" The girl asked.
"My name Taila Kobayashi, I'm Melio's big sister." The woman said.
"Really?" Tohru said, looking her over.
"And you must be Tohru? Kevo told me about you." Taila said.
"I am. Is there something you need?" Tuhro asked.
Taila took a breath, hoping this won't backfire on her.
"Can I come in?" She asked, first.
"Sure," Tohru said, stepping away.
After going in, and taking off her shoes. Taila looks around, surprised to see that her sister still had the maid things she loved.
"Can I get you something?" Tohru asked.
Taila sighs. She needs to get this out of her system.
"No. But I have a question." She said, confusing Tohru.
"Sure, what is it?" She asked.
"Is...Is Meilo happy?" Taila asked.
"Yeah. Miss Kobayashi does seem happy." Tohru smiles.
Taila looks down, trying not to let her emotions get the best of her.
"I..." She started, making Tohru look at her.
"I don't think she's happy." She finally said.
"What do you mean?" Tohru asked.
"This. Her life. You." Taila said.
"Huh?" Tohru asked, confused.
"Look, I'm worried for my sister. This just doesn't feel right. I mean, taking in two young girls?! A maid?! Why would Meilo do this?! This isn't her!" Taila said, trying to keep herself calm.
"What do you mean?" Tohru asked.
"I...I want you to leave." Taila said, looking away.
"Leave?!" Tohru said, surprised.
"It's nothing personal! This is just too much! I don't think Melio could handle it!" Taila said.
Tohru sighs. It was clear that Taila didn't know what happen the last time she left. She walks up to her and has her sit down before serving some tea.
"Look, I understand that you're worried. But I can't leave Miss Kobayashi. I already did that once, and I have regretted it since. She was such a mess when I came back. She even looked happy that I returned." Tohru said.
Taila took a sip of her tea, trying not to let her emotions out.
"Since then, I promise that I'll never leave Miss Kobayashi like that again. I like working as a maid. I like staying with Miss Kobayashi." Tohru said.
Taila took a breath before looking at Tohru.
"I'm sorry." She said, looking down.
Tohru looks confused before Taila stood up.
"I'm...still not convinced Meilo should be doing this. I won't ask the young girls to move out, but..." She started.
"I'm home."
Both of them turned as they saw Kobayashi walk into the room.
"Taila?!" She said, surprised to see her sister.
"Meilo!" Taila said, running up and hugging her sister.
"What are you doing here?" Kobayashi asked, surprised.
"Kevo told me about what happened with you. I can't believe you did this." Taila said, not letting go.
Kobayashi sighs. It was just like her to worry like this. She patted her sister's back before pushing her away a bit.
"Taila, I'm fine." She told her.
Taila looked unsure before she notices the two girls behind them.
"Who?" She asked.
"Oh, right. Taila, these are Kanna and Ilulu. Kanna, Ilulu, this is my older sister, Taila." Kobayashi introduce.
"Nice to meet you," Kanna said.
"Are you okay?" Ilulu asked.
Taila steps back, trying to keep a grip on herself. Kobayashi notices and sighs.
"Can you all wait in your room, please?" She asked, Tohru, Kanna, and Ilulu.
"Um, sure," Tohru said.
"Okay," Kanna said, with Ilulu nodding.
Once the three dragons enter their shared room, Kobayashi took her sister to the table and sat down.
"Taila," She said, seeing that her older sister was starting to relax.
"I'm sorry. This is just too much." She said, feeling calmer.
Kobayashi shook her head. She places a hand on Taila's shoulder, making her sister turn to her.
"Taila, I didn't think my life would change until I met Tohru. She has changed my life for the better. And I like it." She said.
"Do you? You were alone for a long time." Taila said, still not wrapping her mind around this new life her sister had.
"I do. I understand that you're used to me living how you saw me, but I made some changes in my life that I don't regret. Tohru does a good job as a maid, and Kanna helped me understand what it's like to have a child, even if I'm not her real mother. Ilulu has fit in since she moved in with us. They help me feel like I have a family again." Kobayashi told her.
Taila looks away before Kobayashi hugged her.
"But that doesn't mine I forgot about you. Even if you don't have the same passion for maids as I do, doesn't mean I didn't forget all the fun times we had when we were younger." She said.
Taila was unable to hold back her tears anymore. She turns and hugs Kobayashi, crying on her shoulder. Kobayashi looks surprised before hugging her sister back, knowing she needed a shoulder to cry on for while.
10 minutes later,
After collecting herself, Taila decide to get to know the three girls that were staying with her sister. She was already aware of Tohru being a maid and was surprised at how good of a job she was doing.
"Where did you hire her?" Taila asked Kobayashi.
"Oh, well, funny story..." Kobayashi said before explaining how they meet, leaving out that Tohru was a dragon from another word.
"She was hurt?" Taila asked, surprised.
"Yeah. But Miss Kobayashi saved me and offer to live with her as her maid. I seek her out the next morning, and helped remind her of our meaning since she had a hangover and couldn't remember." Tohru added.
"Oh, Melio," Taila said, shaking her head.
She then turned to Kanna and Ilulu, who were watching TV. Kanna looked young and was very cute. Ilulu threw her for a loop when she saw her bust size, but could see that she was still a child as well. Though, she was surprised to learn that she was 16.
"So, what's their story?" She asked, looking at her sister.
"Well, Kanna's family basically outright ignored her since she was younger. Thinking she could grow up on her own. So she pulled off some pranks to get their attention. Sadly, it caused her to be kicked out of her home." Kobayashi said, sighing.
"WHAT?! They kicked out a 9-year-old onto the streets!" Taila said, shocked.
"I actually knew Kanna before that. We would play together from time to time. She actually came looking for me and Miss Kobayashi offer her to stay with us as she did with me." Tohru said.
"I still can't believe it," Taila said, feeling bad for Kanna.
'I can't believe I was going to try and make them all leave Melio. What was the person I was trying to become?' She thought.
"Ilulu is different. She lost both her parents and was raised to be much different. She told me that she made friends before and liked being around them. Sadly, the people she was with didn't see it that way and a huge fight broke out. Her parents and her friends were killed and she grew up how the adults wanted her to be." Kobayashi said.
Taila gasps in shock, not believing something like that would happen.
"I mean her one day and I tried to help her. However, it turns out there was a man that was looking for her and didn't kind she was a child. He was planning on killing her because of how she was raised." Kobayashi continues.
"Is he...?" Taila started to ask.
"No, I protected Ilulu and he hit me for it. Tohru showed up and save us both." Kobayashi said, looking at the Dragon Maid.
Tohru blushed, liking the praise she was giving. Taila sighs, glad to know that Tohru cared for her sister. She still couldn't believe what she tried to do earlier.
"But I did get hurt and passed out after Tohru dealt with him. Both she and Ilulu brought me back here, and I let Ilulu stay with us." Kobayashi said.
Taila sighs. She was regretting her actions even more now.
"I'm sorry." She said, confusing her sister for a moment.
"I came here to make them all leave. I thought that you weren't ready for this. But now I see that I was the one who was not ready. I was so used to seeing you alone most of your life. I thought it would stay that way. I'm sorry." Taila said, looking ready to cry again.
Kobayashi smiles and pats her sister's hand.
"It's alright, Taila." She said.
Taila then felt something tug her shirt and looks down to see Kanna and Ilulu looking at her. She knew they were worried for her and she smiled.
"Thank you." She said, glad they didn't hate her.
Kanna and Ilulu then hugged her, surprising Taila for a second. She returned the hugs and Kobayashi smiles.
"Just know, you're welcome to visit at any time." She said.
Later,
After Taila left, feeling a bit better, Kobayashi sighs as she leans back.
"Are you okay, Miss Kobayashi?" Tohru asked.
"Yeah. Can't believe my sister was doing this again." She said.
"Again?" Tohru asked, confused.
"Taila worries about me too much. She thinks I'm still a young girl that can't do some things on my own. And if something is different, then she needs to change it back. I love her and all, but she can be overprotective at times." Kobayashi sighs.
"Huh, I don't have a sibling so I never felt like that before," Tohru said.
"I kind of envy you. But, I know Taila for a long time. She might worry too much, but I know she's just being an older sister." Kobayashi said.
"She was nice," Kanna said.
"Maybe, but I'm surprised she wanted us to move out," Ilulu said.
"It's family. They get like that." Kobayashi said, smiling.
"We're family too. Right, Kobayashi?" Kanna asked.
"We are. I don't think I'll change that for anything." Kobayashi smiles.
Kanna nods before she started to eat her dinner. Ilulu smiles, glad to be part of Kobayashi's family before eating as well. Tohru sits down before looking at Kobayashi.
"Is there something wrong, Tohru?" She asked.
"Oh! It's nothing." Tohru said, shaking her head.
Kobayashi looked confused but still smiled. She had a strong feeling that Taila was going to be the last family member they will see.
And I came up with something for Kobayashi's sister. She was more of an over-worried sister that thought Kobayashi was ready for the big chances of her life. But once Taila listen to her sister and heard the backstories of the girls living with her, she regretted her actions. And if anyone is wondering why I haven't explained what Kevo and Taila looked like, it's because I couldn't think of anything when I was thinking of them. So, feel free to think of your own versions.
Okay, the next family members that will visit will be Kobayashi's Grandparents. And since Kobayashi is only 26, I don't think her grandparents will be too old. Maybe in their '60s? Maybe closer to their '70s? Not sure yet.
