Low-Voltage Shock

Pairings: Takuya x Junpei tension. Referenced one-sided (canon) Junpei x Izumi.

Summary:

A mild electric shock. A delayed reaction.

The difference is Junpei's a guy and Izumi's a girl.

Yeah, that part is self-evident. It's also Takuya's defence for the disparity between his reactions to two similar mishaps.

When Junpei accidentally landed on him, Takuya was inconvenienced, but the moment passed quietly without either of them making a big deal of it.

When Izumi wound up falling on him, oh boy, she made him hear about it!

Junpei agrees that Takuya shouldn't be falling on (or falling for!) Izumi-chan!

Because Junpei loves Izumi.

Because Junpei is straight.

"Junpeiii, Izumi fell on me!" Takuya had to be clear who'd been at fault.

When Junpei fell on him, Junpei took his weight off right away at least, whereas Izumi slapped him in the face, screamed at him, and pushed him into the leaves.

In Izumi's case, Takuya felt everything – the pain, the screams, the flecks of spit – all at once.

And in Junpei's, Takuya felt only the initial impact of Junpei running into him.

But that was then. He knew now his collision with Junpei had resulted in a low-voltage shock. His reaction to it had been delayed.

Way, way delayed!

They're glued to their cell phones.

Takuya is tempted to yell "Spirit Evolution!" for old times' sake. Not that it would do much since his Digivice reverted to the regular mobile currently in his hand.

Those days were finished.

"Junpei, listen –"

"I love Izumi-chan."

Takuya perceives a miniscule fluctuation in Junpei's voice.

It was all he needed.

"I got it, Junpei." He understood.

Junpei had experienced a low-voltage shock on the Wandering Island too. That was ample for Takuya to be happy.
